Szentendre: The Filming Site of Jolin Tsai’s Music Video — traveler post in Pest

Szentendre: The Filming Site of Jolin Tsai’s Music Video

📍Budapest 🇭🇺 Hungary Szentendre | A Half-Day Suburban Getaway Szentendre is a charming artistic and tourist town nestled along the Danube Bend, about 20 km north of Budapest, the Hungarian capital. A train ride takes about 40 minutes, making it a perfect spot for a half-day trip. For many Taiwanese visitors, this town is famous because Jolin Tsai filmed the music video for "A Wonder in Madrid" here. I remember when we first arrived in Hungary, it felt just like winter—the wind was brutal and it was freezing. I was bundled up in a sweater and jacket all day. But after ten days of traveling, summer suddenly returned! XDD The day we spent in Szentendre was so scorching at noon that I almost got heatstroke. The town is quite small, so we just wandered around, strolled along the Danube, and hiked up to the Szerb (Tobakos) Kereszt viewpoint for the scenery. Town Highlights · Fairy-tale Streets: Features vibrant low-rise houses, winding cobblestone paths, and the famous colorful umbrella street. · Artistic Hub: A gathering place for many painters, galleries, and art museums. Town Attractions · Szentendre Downtown Main Square: A very recognizable filming location from the music video and the liveliest area in the center of town. · Church of Saint John the Baptist: A church perched on a hill, also featured in the music video. · Colorful Umbrellas: A classic landmark. It’s wild to think the music video wasn’t actually filmed in Madrid, but in this suburban town near Budapest, Hungary. My whole reason for visiting this town was purely for Jolin. While I was there, I kept comparing the scenery to the music video. Can you believe "A Wonder in Madrid" was released 20 years ago?! While the iconic Cross Square and the hilltop St. John's Church remain unchanged, the rest of the buildings and streetscapes felt both familiar and different. I couldn't find the exact colors or spots that looked exactly like they did in the video anymore. · NOTE: "A Wonder in Madrid" was included in Jolin Tsai’s album "Dancing Diva," released on May 12, 2006. 📷 2026.06 photography 2026

Family Trip to Hungary, Czech Republic, and Austria

Friends planning a family trip to Hungary, Czech Republic, and Austria, bookmark this guide! For those preparing to take their kids on a Hungary-Czech-Austria family trip, this is a must-read! Many people planning their first Eastern European travel itinerary worry not about the scenery but about complex cross-border transportation, tiring schedules for kids, and overly adult-oriented attractions 🥲. Actually, Hungary + Austria + Czech Republic can be perfect for family trips if you plan the pace right. A 10-day trip without rushing, tailored for families, can turn palaces, thermal lakes, salt mines, and fairy-tale towns into experiences kids can truly enjoy. 📍 Hidden Gems for Family Trips in Hungary, Czech Republic, and Austria This isn’t your typical sightseeing tour but a slower-paced cultural route designed for families. Salt mine adventures, floating in thermal lakes, palace mazes, and fairy-tale towns—every stop has activities kids can participate in. 🌉 Budapest|Starting on the Danube Stay for two nights to ease into the trip. Visit Fisherman’s Bastion to see the white towers during the day, and take a Danube River cruise at night to admire the Parliament building illuminated. The first stop sets the tone with a sense of ceremony ✨. 🏰 Gödöllő Palace|Sisi’s Royal Residence Explore the palace with your kids, but don’t rush into historical details. Follow the story of Empress Sisi to find the purple room, then leisurely stroll through the gardens and corridors. This makes it easier for kids to engage. ♨️ Hévíz Thermal Lake|Floating on the Lake This isn’t just any swimming pool—it’s a natural thermal lake. Adults can relax in the hot springs, while kids, under supervision, can experience the sensation of floating. Life rings are available for children under 12, ensuring safety. ⛏️ Salzburg Salt Mines|Underground Adventure Dress as miners, ride the mine train, and slide down wooden slides—turning geological education into an exciting adventure. This stop is sure to thrill the kids! 🏔️ Hallstatt|Fairy-Tale Lakeside Town A postcard-perfect lakeside village. Take a leisurely walk by the lake, enjoy a boat ride to see mountain reflections and church spires. No need to rush, and every moment is picture-perfect. 🎼 Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna|Palatial Learning Experience Schönbrunn Palace isn’t just for sightseeing. Explore the hedge maze, listen to royal stories, and make art and history accessible to kids. 🌇 Prague|Ending in a Fairy-Tale City Red rooftops, Charles Bridge, and the castle district—spend the last day strolling leisurely through the city. It’s a beautiful way to wrap up a 10-day, three-country journey. What touched me most about this trip is that it’s not just about taking kids to Europe but turning Europe into a storybook they can understand 📖.

The most chill town near Budapest! Half-day trip to Szentendre

A town on the Danube River composed of colorful houses, a gathering place for Hungarian handicrafts, and a great place for a city walk near Budapest: 📍Szentendre/Szentendre ⛰️And because of its pronunciation, it has a down-to-earth Chinese name: Shandan Dan🤣 Only 20km from Budapest 🌈City walk route: The main road in the town runs along the Danube River. You can start at the Retro Design Center and walk all the way to the Christmas Museum. The popular Shandan Dan check-in spot is located about halfway down the main street. It is a colorful alley with many umbrellas. The specific location is: Herendi Porcelán 🌺There are many Hungarian-style handicraft shops along the way, including flower fabrics, ceramic flowers, and animal & fruit 3D plates. It's worth a visit. I recommend a local handicraft shop called RAKU, where you can buy handmade ceramic refrigerator stickers with the town's name 🍦There are also some restaurants, ice cream shops, and cafes in the town. You can sit in the sunny town square and drink coffee. It feels great. There is also a small church next to the square 🚶You can walk out of the alley and sit by the Danube River at any time The whole journey takes 2-3 hours 🚗I drove from Budapest and parked outside the town. It's very convenient. If you don't drive, you can also take a train

What is it like to live in a luxurious palace in Budapest?

📒 Hyatt Collection Budapest 🚶‍♀️Walking all the way along the Danube River to this famous Art Nouveau resort, the hotel’s palace-like majestic architecture also fully reflects the profound cultural heritage of Budapest’s inner city~ 🔑𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘭 I was so happy when I saw such a luxurious castle for the first time🪄 It was like a castle in a fairy tale! This castle is located in the center of Budapest, next to the Danube River, where you can explore the charm of the past. It is so beautiful! The hotel’s bar and cafe are located in the 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘻𝘴𝘪𝘜𝘥𝘷𝘢𝘳 arcade, under a glass ceiling and hexagonal dome🕌It’s really stunning 🔑𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘴 This time I stayed in a city view deluxe king bed room. The room was very warmly decorated and gave people a very comfortable feeling, which is my favorite style🏠The overall facilities of the room are also very advanced, with independently controlled heating and air conditioning. Just lie down and you can fall asleep beautifully🌙I asked the handsome front desk guy later and found out that this is a 300-knit bedding, no wonder it is so comfortable hahaha 🔑𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵 Regarding food, I am lazy and have it delivered directly to the room! It’s good news for lazy people ☝️ The hotel’s cold crayfish, pan-fried sea bass and 𝘗𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘬𝘢 chicken breast are all very delicious😋 If you want to change the taste, no problem! Discover the secrets of 'Fisherman's Bastion,' a pristine white fortress and dreamy architecture in Budapest. — traveler post in Pest

Discover the secrets of 'Fisherman's Bastion,' a pristine white fortress and dreamy architecture in Budapest.

Fisherman's Bastion in Budapest, Hungary, is a breathtakingly beautiful and enchanting location showcasing a perfect blend of ancient architecture, blending fortified balconies and Neo-Gothic art in a classic and harmonious way. This invaluable cultural heritage site boasts pristine white stone buildings and exceptionally well-preserved architecture, celebrating the splendor of the Danube River fortress and the timeless beauty of the city. The sacred Matthias Church, with its stunningly colorful glazed tile roof, offers a truly captivating and uplifting atmosphere. The clear emerald waters and natural stone block squares are perfectly situated amidst lush, forested hills, providing a refreshing breeze that is incredibly relaxing and invigorating. · A Masterpiece The highlight of this trip, popular for its leisurely strolls and opportunities to experience Eastern European lifestyles, is the scenic walking route along the fortified balconies of the old town on the Budapest hills. The natural stone block walkways and arches surround the square and its key landmarks as follows: · Fisherman's Bastion Towers & Flower Beds: A magnificent view of the unique, pristine white, conical towers towering above the stone square, adorned with rows of white tulips and colorful wildflowers blooming spectacularly against the azure sky. · Sunset view through the Stone Arch: A popular spot for taking wide-angle photos against the sky, offering stunning views of Budapest along the waterfront through the arched Gothic archway. The sunset is breathtaking as the sky begins to change to warm orange and pastel purple hues. · Grand Stone Staircase & Bastion Wall: An intricately carved stone terrace stretches along the lush forested hillside. Below are large granite stairs leading down to the Danube River. • Reflecting the natural stone fortress structure that has survived time perfectly and amazingly. · Matthias Church & Steps: A masterpiece of architecture standing prominently next to the Fisherman's Bastion, with its towering spires and intricately colored ceramic tile roof, emphasizing its solemn grandeur alongside the arched walkways in front. · Trinity Square Courtyard: A wide stone block courtyard in the heart of the fortress, open to fresh breezes and warm sunlight, offering views of the surrounding stone architecture, perfect for a leisurely stroll to soak in the fresh air. · Statue of Saint Stephen I: A green bronze statue of the great Hungarian king on horseback, standing majestically on an intricately carved stone pedestal, elegantly surrounded by towers and the spacious area of the square. · Getting There Connect by local bus lines 16, 16A, or 116 from the Pest side across the river and alight at the station. Take the historic Buda Hill Funicular (Szentháromság tér) to the top of Buda Hill for the most convenient and independent access to these areas near the square. (The best time to visit with clear, cool weather is during spring in May, or during autumn when the forests change color. You can sample authentic "Goulash" (a rich, traditional meat soup) and "Chimney Cake" (freshly baked chimney cakes) at the restaurants located near the square, enjoying the true flavors year-round.) · Opening Hours and Entrance Fee The square area, the lower terrace, and the viewpoint around Matthias Church are free to walk around and take photos 24 hours a day (except for the top viewing terrace and the interior of Matthias Church, which have a small entrance fee for maintenance during the day). · Dress Code We recommend bringing comfortable hiking boots or walking shoes, as the entire area consists of cobblestone courtyards and ancient stone steps that may be slippery in some areas. For clothing, we suggest light cotton clothes, earth-toned, clean minimalist outfits, or light jeans. It will help to highlight your features and make you stand out when taking backlit photos against the backdrop of the pristine white stone walls and the cityscape, creating a truly exquisite and harmonious scene. #fishermansbastion #budapest #hungary #matthiaschurch #budacastle #travelshungary #fairytalevillage #pinpointbeautifulplaces #amazingphotospot #hungaryreview #natureview
