After my first trip to India earlier this year, I once again chose Forts & Palaces to organize this journey. This time, I traveled solo as a woman, exploring Northern India all the way to Ladakh. Once again, the trip was planned in a very personal and flexible manner right from the beginning. Bahadur accompanied me throughout the trip, making many special moments possible. His extensive experience, calm and warm nature, and above all, his flexibility made this journey very unique for me. I never felt like I was merely following a predetermined itinerary. If I wanted to see something spontaneously, it was always possible. Plans could also be easily adjusted whenever something interesting came up along the way. My route took me from Delhi to Haridwar, Rishikesh, Chandigarh, and Amritsar, continuing to Dharamsala and Manali, and eventually traversing the awe-inspiring Manali-Leh road to Leh, the Nubra Valley, and Alchi. Some of my best experiences arose from this flexibility. In Chandigarh, we spontaneously visited the Le Corbusier Centre and ended up joining a tour of the government district that led us into the Parliament building. Often, we found ourselves off the beaten path, exploring small alleyways and immersing ourselves in the local life, meeting incredible people. A conversation with young individuals in a remote mountain village remains particularly memorable to me. Of course, there were major highlights as well: the Golden Temple in Amritsar, the border ceremony, the breathtaking drive from Manali to Leh, the high mountain passes, Leh itself, the Nubra Valley with its sand dunes and camels, and the ancient monasteries of Hemis, Thiksey, and Alchi. Traveling alone through India with a private guide and driver offered me a remarkable blend of freedom and safety. I could decide what I wanted to do, while always feeling well taken care of. Our driver was exceptional—calm, dependable, and extremely skilled, especially on the challenging roads and mountain passes. I always felt completely secure. The background organization worked flawlessly. Bahadur’s son quickly and efficiently managed any changes or spontaneous arrangements. This balance of solid planning alongside the freedom to adapt during the journey was what made this trip so extraordinary for me. My most important tip for other women: Be brave and dare to discover India beyond the well-known paths. Venture into the side streets, be curious, and connect with the locals. Often, the best interactions and experiences are found where you least expect them. My heartfelt thanks go out to the entire team, Bahadur, and our driver for this exceptional, personal, and unforgettable trip.

The campus air is always filled with a gentle scholarly vibe; walking down the corridors, the breeze gently carries the fresh scent of greenery mingled with the faint aroma of library pages, compelling every rushing student and teacher to slow their pace. The students here always have a bright sparkle in their eyes. Whether they are huddled over stone tables working through math problems or gathered under the shade of trees discussing assignments, their faces wear a calm and focused expression. When teachers walk by, they always pause to patiently answer questions, completely unpretentious and as approachable as old friends. Classroom discussions are never just one-way lectures; everyone is free to speak their mind. Diverse perspectives clash and spark brilliantly in the air, bringing even the dullest subjects to life. As evening falls, the setting sun bathes the entire campus in a golden glow, illuminating every corner. The joyful laughter of youths running echoes from the sports field, while the comforting aroma of hot meals drifts from the dining hall. A warm, hopeful atmosphere permeates everywhere. Every moment spent here will become one of the most tender, unforgettable memories in the years to come, capturing the most beautiful essence of youth.

Adventure: The ultimate adrenaline hub. Famous for White-Water Rafting (with cliff jumping), India's highest Bungee Jumping, and massive Ziplines directly over the Ganges. Cafes & Vibe: Relaxed, global backpacker energy around Tapovan. Great for river-facing cafes serving excellent vegetarian/vegan food and wood-fired pizzas. Yoga & Spirituality: The "Yoga Capital of the World." Filled with serene ashrams, meditation centers, and a much calmer, musical evening Ganga Aarti compared to Haridwar. The Takeaway: Go to Haridwar for raw rituals, but go to Rishikesh to choose your own pace—whether that's jumping off a cliff, relaxing in a café, or finding total silence by the river.
