Surprised Vlassis is not rated even higher on TA, it deserves to be much higher than current 153. Took a chance and walked to Vlassis from the Hilton, this was one of the higher ratings in the area, and reviews sounded very positive. Well, first of all, service and accommodation was superb. Recommendations were all very very good, so trust the staff if you are not sure what to order. And when we said we wanted to try more items, they offered a few half portions. We had: - baked lamb which was on the special menu, recommended over the lamb on regular menu. It was perfectly cooked, and tasted devine. - burger and fries for my child, have to say one of the few places where fries (aka fried potatoes in Greece) are done well. Everyone else's fries tend to be under cooked. Note these are bun-less burgers in Greece. - fresh salt cured sardines. This was awesome, a little like sashimi, very smooth, not fishy. And how did they de-bone the sardines? - stuffed grape leaves with rice and herbs, without meat was one of the best we have had - chickpeas baked with onions dill and tomato was unexpectedly delicious, this was a recommendation from the waiter. - we also had a soup which wasnt as memorable (but still good), only because they also provided a really nice lentil soup like chef's welcome appetizer. Not expensive, quaint restaurant with inside and outside seating. Just really lovely, considering the food, service, price and decor, one of the best meals we have had.
