With a stay at Container House Villa Kurokawa in Minamioguni (Kurokawa Onsen), you'll be a 4-minute drive from Aso Kuju National Park and 5 minutes from Meotodaki Fall. This holiday park is 1.8 mi (3 km) from Hiranodai Kogen Observation Deck and 5.8 mi (9.3 km) from Sujiyu Onsen. This holiday park offers designated smoking areas. Free self parking is available onsite. Make yourself at home in one of the 5 air-conditioned rooms featuring LCD televisions. Your bed comes with down comforters and premium bedding. Complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected, and cable programming is available for your entertainment. Bathrooms feature showers, complimentary toiletries, and hair dryers.

"The rooms had all the essentials and I really liked the small onsen. The only issue was the instability of the Wi-Fi which kept dropping off even after staff helped me connect to a new one. I came here during summer so I cannot comment on insulation during winter as you’re affectively sleeping in a container."

The Guesthouse Kuju No Kura provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. The Guesthouse Kuju No Kura offers a pleasant stay in Minamioguni for those traveling for business or leisure. Miyaji Station is located approximately 27km away while Kumamoto Airport is 59km away. There is no shortage of things to see in the area, with the 黒川いご坂の大杉跡, Morinoyu and Fumoto Ryokan all nearby. In their spare time, guests can explore the hotel's surroundings. If you demand a high level of service, our guests have indicated that this hotel has excellent standards.

"There are private rooms and dormitories. The kitchen and bathroom are all very clean, so if you're feeling a bit overwhelmed by ryokans, I highly recommend this place. I had a wonderful, relaxing time, boss. The horse meat was truly amazing! ㅜㅠ! Next time, I'll bring a friend, and I'll treat you to some delicious Korean food. Definitely!! Stay healthy! It was so much fun."

I honestly do not know where to start, I booked the hotel without really knowing much about Kumamoto Prefecture. After arriving in Kumamoto City and then realising Ueki Onsen is another 40 minute bus ride I was thinking oh dear where am I staying. After arriving at the hotel I was greeted by the manager of the hotel who showed me to my room and gave me a tour of the facilities. Once settled in I realised there isn't great public transport around and I primarily wanted to see Beppu and Yufuin during my stay, I enquired with the manager on where I might be able to rent a car, with little to no Japanese language under my belt he took it upon himself to reserve a vehicle for me and offered to drive me himself to collect it. He then also said he would take me back to return it a few days later. After my trips to Beppu and Yufui village (Not to be missed) and not to miss the outstanding and beautiful surroundings in Uekimachi and the Aso region. The manager and I set off to return my hire car, on the way back he took me to Kikuchi shrine to pray and also gifted me coffee and cake. They also accommodated me with use of the on site onsen (amazing) after hours as I'm heavily tattooed. I feel truly grateful to have found this hidden gem of rural Japan and if you are thinking of traveling this great country I emplore you to go off the beaten path. I experienced untold kindness during my stay and have memories of a life time. Thank you so much guys

It’s a good private house. But I’m won’t recommend if weather is cold or raining, or if you’re traveling with young kids. I travelled with my family with two toddlers. The bath and onsen are outdoors, not quite well lit and not well covered. The hot water water pressure is low, and the water is either very hot or very cold. It was a cold, raining and windy that night. It was a horrible experience for us because of the above, and the kids had a lot of trouble taking a bath. And we were worried they might catch a cold. And strangely the door lock of the bath is locked from the outside and not from the inside. Also remember to buy food before entering. We bought ours and cooked our own dinner. Otherwise, it’s a good private house, probably best for adults.

The hotel is located right at one of the very busy shopping streets of Kumamoto with many shops and restaurants. We had had very pleasant stroll there and had dinner and snack. The room is very spacious and clean. The two matt glass windows cannot be opened per se. One has light and the other very little. The soap provided is of better quality than that of the other hotels I have stayed in. The dispenser says Kao.

There's nothing around the hotel, but the appearance and interior were amazing. It has a luxurious atmosphere, yet is reasonably priced!! The front desk was also polite, and I had a very comfortable stay. I'm very satisfied.

The service was absolutely incredible. The location was a bit awkward, being a 5-minute drive from Kurokawa Onsen (but a 30-minute walk). I emailed them beforehand to explain the situation and requested a pick-up, which they happily accommodated. We even missed our pre-booked highway bus from Fukuoka to Kurokawa and had to change the time on the day, but they still helped us. The highway bus was incredibly slow, making us 40 minutes late for our agreed-upon pick-up time. I almost teared up feeling both apologetic and grateful to the elderly owners, who helped us so kindly without showing any sign of inconvenience. I want to express my sincere gratitude again. Thank you so much! Thanks to them, my four friends and I had a wonderful trip in Kurokawa. The owner's wife advised us in Japanese to book a taxi for the evening from the information center. However, as our Japanese isn't very good, we kept putting it off and ended up not booking one. As a result, after finishing our onsen and dinner, my four friends and I had to walk for over 30 minutes along a dark forest road to get back to our accommodation ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ. For others, please make sure to book a taxi for your return trip at the information center as soon as you arrive at the onsen. It's a very rural area where you can't call for a taxi, and cars are rarely seen after 8 PM. Walking back to Mori No Cottage is just not something a person should do. It was so hard. It was dark, scary, and the uphill climb was exhausting. Aside from that, the accommodation itself was excellent. It was a wooden cottage, and I heard the owner's husband designed it himself. It was a very comfortable, clean, and pleasant place to stay. The next day, we had to return to Fukuoka, so they helped us with a pick-up to the highway bus stop at 9:30 AM. However, they dropped us off at the wrong spot, and it could have been a big problem if we hadn't moved to the correct location. We almost missed the bus again. I think there was a communication error because our Japanese isn't very good. It turns out we were supposed to get off at Fukuoka Airport, not Yufuin or Beppu. Thankfully, we managed to get to the correct stop, so there were no issues in the end. I think it's crucial for others to communicate very clearly. All in all, I was truly grateful and happy.

The hotel decoration for Christmas was superb & beautiful. Initially when we checked in, the passage way at level 2 had an unpleasant musty smell but a few hours later the smell was gone. I think the hotel should look into improving the ventilation & add some aromatic scent. The breakfast spread for 1320 yen was excellent. There were Japanese as well as Western food choices.

Location is a bit far from Kumamoto station. Walking distance is about 35min but you can take a tram to reach. Overall the hotel is good. There is also a public bath with hot pool. For those shy or feel uncomfortable to use the public bath, there is also a very private bathroom attached.
