Absolutely loved the hotel. This was my first time experiencing a self-check-in process, where you register via a tablet at the entrance and receive your key card, rather than interacting with a person. It's incredibly convenient and perfect for introverts. The room was clean and cozy. There was water in the fridge, and they provided several charging cables for different devices, which is super handy for anyone who might have forgotten theirs. The bathrobes came in individual bags. I particularly liked the shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. I also appreciated that the bathroom and bedroom were separated by a small hallway.
I spent three nights at this hotel located not far from the entrance to Seorak National Park.
So let's start at the beginning by stating that this was one of the main criteria that guided my choice and helped me narrow down the wide range of hotels in Sokcho.
I wanted to be within easy reach of the reserve since I'm a hiking enthusiast.
A word of advice, though: take a taxi, which will likely drop you off below the parking area.
This way, you'll be sure to arrive well warmed up before your trekking session.
But I'm getting further away from the hotel...
A second element, logically related to the above, if, like me, you were looking for a quiet and peaceful place to rest after your workout, you've found it. A true haven of peace... perfect for a good night's sleep, except in exceptional circumstances, since the first night I had a serious snorer, and since the walls aren't very thick... I won't draw you a picture.
Breakfast is available by informing reception the night before.
For the price, don't miss out.
Room cleaning is also available, just request it in the lobby.
The rooms are remarkably clean, although not very spacious. But the hotel offers almost all the usual amenities one would expect in addition to the room amenities: toiletries, free 5G internet access, bottled water, French coffee pods (be careful, there's a catch) and green tea...
Unfortunately, when it came time to extend my stay by one night to rest in the dry - the weather is very bad in Korea right now - reservations were fully booked due to Chuseok - Korean Thanksgiving - a major family reunion event where ancestors are honored... needless to say, this is also the most difficult time to find accommodation and, of course, the most expensive for us as guests.
Prices easily double.
Keep this in mind if you come to Korea, and especially if possible, book in advance during the fall holidays. Unfortunately, shortly after booking elsewhere, a room became available...
And where I landed, I quickly found myself in a completely different world, with a clientele and atmosphere that were the opposite of what I had so enjoyed at the Amaranth Hotel.
So British in a very nice way...isn't it?
Amazing hotel. The room has everything you need. The sea is nearby 😍 and there's a beautiful lake on the other side. There's a bus stop behind the hotel, easy to get to from the train station.
There are lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. There's a 7/11.
Thank you for your hospitality 🥰
Personally, it is the cleanest and prettyest value for money among Yangyang accommodations. The ocean view from the inside is really the best. The bed is also high-end, and the amenities are the best. !!
I don't know if it's the staff or the boss, but I'm sorry that I accidentally broke the wine glass, but he said it was okay. Thank you for your kind welcome. ! I enjoyed using it :)
I will visit again next time. !
Front staff are friendly The location is great, so it's easy to access anywhere. I stayed because I liked the time to enter and leave, but it's convenient.
Great location:
5min walk from gangneung ktx station, eateries nearby, a convenience store right at the corner, walking distance or take bus to the central market. Central area but quiet neighbourhood.
Comfy environment:
Hotel is very neat and clean, looks very new and smell nice once you step in entrance. Self-check-in.
P.S. i only found out after check-out that guests may choose the aroma oil at the lobby n bring it to room :] nice Flow-er experience 🌺😌
Nice amenities:
Reserved the spa n movie room while the room is equipped with projector n soundbar, n you get to control different lighting setup with tv remote control, pretty cool! Good time watching some kdrama n hot bath after long journey to spend the night. Love the fact that shower water is strong n hot enough which is very essential for me.
One downside is that the light of the ac and wifi router keep flashing at night and may affect if you are a light sleeper… everything else is great. I love how they have usb-a ports n also wireless charging!
You can also borrow extra amenities like charging cable n hair straightener at each floor locker cabinet.
Luggage Storage
Available after check-in/after check-out at each floor or lobby behind the water/coffee/refreshment section.
Overall, highly recommend with such price👍🏿
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the hotel. On the first day, I booked a 1.8m king-size bed room, but I was given a room with a 1.5m bed. However, after speaking with them, they upgraded me to a two-bed room for the second day. The room was very spacious, and I particularly liked having a separate entryway. They provided all the necessary disposable toiletries, and even the toilet paper was a good brand. There's a coffee machine on the first floor, so you can grab a coffee anytime. The front desk staff were all very friendly and helpful.
It's not that big though. I think it's good in terms of cost-effectiveness.
Moreover, it was nice that there were many dakgalbi restaurants nearby.
There was nothing particularly inconvenient.
Seems almost brand new with clean and quiet including surroundings. Highly recommend to everybody who has plan to visit Sockcho downtown. Having good memory of very friendly receptionist, my lazy late morning started even after passing a simple breakfast toast and coffee. My single bed seemed hard feeling to me, cos it might be my getting old age style. Enjoyable stay.
I have stayed here before to hike Seoraksan. This time, I had a nicer room; however, because it is near the mountains and older, there was a huge house centipede on the ceiling when I got there. Luckily, the bug spray they had worked on it. Other than that, there were some small stains on the bedding, but everything else was clean. The bed was comfortable, and the location is about 55 minutes walking distance from Seoraksan National Park. It's only about an 8 minute taxi drive there if not too much traffic. There is a beautiful river/stream nearby. This place is also only about a 16 minute drive from the Sokcho Express Bus Terminal. Obviously, I like this place enough to stay again. Breakfast was toast, cereal, and you could make eggs/a toast sandwich I believe.

Great
The hotel room is very big, spacious and clean, opposite is emart and daiso, olive young so location is quite convenient too, walking distance to bus terminal. Room equipped with cutlery and utensils like cups and bowls. Tea leaf and coffee capsule is provided too. The TV is big and sofa/ bed are very comfortable , highly recommend this hotel. The only downside is there’re no front counter for hotel services and check-in/check-out or any luggage storage services. You can only check in automatically by room password on 4pm. The hotel name wasn’t show in anywhere and the hotel actually located inside mari vista hotel, so we were looking for the access to room for a while.
The New York Spa room we booked is very beautiful. Do note that there is a flight of quite steep stairs to climb up in case you have huge luggage. The place is clean and bright and the bathroom is huge with a Jacuzzi but bathroom could be brighter with a bit more lightings. Bed and blanket is comfortable and heating is good. However we had problem checking in on the 1st day as the host was nowhere to be found. I had to roam around the house in a minus 8 degrees weather to find a way in. We called the number given and it was in Korean and couldn't get through. After contacting trip.com, we were told to call the owner's mobile number but owner cannot speak English at all. TRIP.COM advised me to go to the room with a keypad but no clear instructions on how to use it. We waited for about an hour+ in total to finally have the owner return. Understood that they might have went to the hospital in an emergency but they should have contacted us and informed us instead of letting your guest wait in the cold not knowing what to expect. The owner did not even apologize and couldn't speak any English at all. Add to the surprise, there was no water on the 1st night around 9pm. We had to call the owner and water is back after around 15mins. After the 1st night, the subsequent 3 nights stay went smoothly luckily. I would recommend making sure how to check in before you arrive at the pension to avoid the same encounter as ours.
The facilities were great, and I'm making great memories while visiting Chuncheon! I made so many great memories! The value was great, and the subway station pickup service was convenient. I want to come back! The room was warm and quiet.
I arrived from Sokcho and took an Uber from the bus stop. I had a hard time choosing a hotel in this area because I wanted a room with a bathtub, and most options were quite expensive. This hotel turned out to be a great choice — the room was really spacious, and there were only a few rooms in total, which made it feel more private. They offered free breakfast. I’m not sure about other options, but I remember being asked what type of breakfast I preferred. I chose a sandwich, and every morning it was already prepared on the table at the first floor — all guests seemed to have the same. There’s also free coffee and tea available. The amenities were excellent — the room was spotless and well-equipped with towels, bathrobes, slippers, a hair dryer, water heater, coffee and tea, a fridge, and complete toiletries including a toothbrush (which is rare in most hotels in Korea). Overall, it’s a clean, comfortable, and quiet place to stay. I highly recommend it if you’re planning to explore the Chuncheon area
Great atmosphere! The owners are super nice and very helpful (but little English is spoken). The area is very peaceful and there is an outside patio by the stream. The national park is easily reachable either by walking or by the frequent city bus (with can also take you to the guesthouse from the Sokcho bus station). The room is clean and comfy, with a little breakfast included. Recommend!
It's an wonderful combination to stay at high valley hotel, rent snowboard and ski at top ski rental and snowboarding at high1. The location of high valley is very convenient, nice Korean BBQ walk 3mins, only USD 12 and you can eat until you full. The rental Top Ski is 1 min by walking and it's an English store. Very few Korean people can speak English, even the service cent of high1 resort. Top one also sale lift tickets at 40%off price and you don't need to waste your time at ticket office. Nice view from room, and 3 different kinds of charge plug for you mobile phone. You can ask front desk to call a taxi to high1 valley ski house. The price of taxi is USD 3. By walk is 10mins, in havey sonw 20mins. And if you rent something at Top ski, they will sent you to valley ski house.
Good and very warm welcoming hotel in the heart of Seorak mountain national park. You have big rooms, simple self-service breakfast and free self-service laundry if you need. Beautiful views in a foot-step distance, and the Seoraksan cable car in 3 minute drive (or 20 min walk).
