Never one to read too much into earlier reviews, I came here with an open mind at a very reasonable price through jet2citybreaks. Wow was that a mistake. The hotel is conveniently located not too far from St. Catalina bus station, about a 10-15 minute walk so easy to get too from the airport, and when you are here it is 2 minutes from the beach - first impressions - tick. The lobby looks nothing like the pictures, it’s dark and unappealing but the man on reception was very friendly and helpful. He even chatted to me about the possibility of keeping the room a little longer on my last day as I have a late flight home. The room itself - this is where you suddenly realise your mistake. I was given an internal room, with a small window opening into a sealed central courtyard - so no airflow at all and a faint smell. The bathroom, also - no ventilation, very dark and in poor repair. Considering it’s 30 degrees currently - I hoped the air con was good but sadly it barely worked. The food service is the next disappointment, you come to realise that the staff are extremely rude - not interested in helping you and wander about glaring at you and pulling plates out from under your nose whilst still eating. The food itself was quite nice, although after only 24 hours my tummy isn’t feeling great. I have checked out and found myself somewhere else to stay. Don’t make the same mistake I have - this is not a nice hotel and you will be seriously disappointed.

Hotel is located near the airport of Las Palmas about 20 minutes in the most inner area of the island. I must say gentleness of the owner who waited for me tonight because the flight and the car rental delivery have caused a little delay. small room with terrace, no lift is available. simple but good breakfast. stayed for one night
Apartamentos BlueBay Beach Club

Spent 4 nights at Bluebay Beach Club across the back end of November. Overall I wouldnt say it was a bad holiday. You pay for a cheap holiday, you get a cheap holiday. There are a few things I would change or update. Firstly the rooms definately are outdated, so dont be suprised with them. TV socket was hanging from the wall not secured properly, however the view overlooking the sea is brilliant and its a huge balcony too. Youre hardly going to spend much time in the rooms anyway, but it would be nice if a bit more time and money were invested into them. The rooms are big, completely seperate bedroom to the living room, with a kitchen that has everything you need. Dishwasher, oven, toaster, big fridge. So if you want to cook in your rooms its easy. Television we had to pay to get the international channels. It was €10 for 3 nights that we took, you could do less or more depending what you wanted. Also had to pay for a safe which is €4.50 per night. This was frustrating though because you shouldn't have to pay extra for a safe or to have tele seperately, Im sure most would agree that youd much rather have both of these included, but have it charged within the cost of the holiday itself so you dont see it. Would make much more sense just to increase the price of staying at the hotel by £50 per package and have that cover the costs of the safe and television. Customers would appreciate that alot more. The hotel is right next to a little airport so you do get a few planes going over to land or take off. Didnt bother me at all, but its something to be aware of. This only happens during the day and it isnt constantly happening, and it isnt overnight or early in the morning There is a shop downstairs on site so you can get all your basic needs there. Water, juice, bread, snacks, shower gel etc for the room. No chemist though. For the chemist you have to go out the hotel. Because we know the area very well, we was getting taxis down to one of the better beaches by San Agustin shopping centre, which was a 5 minute taxi drive and cost €7 there, and then €7 back. The food in the restaurant wasnt too bad. Get your mix of pizzas chips, some nights, others its fish, chicken rice. You do have to pay for drinks when having your dinner though! This was annoying because again its a hidden cost you dont expect. Again, itd be better to just charge this against the overall cost of the hotel so you dont see it, but you get it. Our room was quite high up so we didnt see any cockroachs at all in the room, but it was a bit of a walk to the reception. We did happen to stay next to a noisy parrot though which was a shame. Not the hotels fault, nothing they can do about a neighbour who has a parrot out. It would sometimes be noisy middle of the night so if youre a light sleeper you would wake up, but it does stop and go quiet for hours on end and it wasnt every single night that it made noise Pool area is really nice with lots of sun loungers and places to sit. Firstly I came here last year and I highly rated it as a solo or couples retreat. I recommended this hotel to my family one of which is my sister who is pregnant. The hotel management would not reassure us of what they are doing with a couple who has a child with measles. All we asked is if they have seen a doctor to see if it's the measles, are they quarantine if the child has the measles as it can be a health concern to elderly people, pregnant women and people with reduce immune system. They have been spotted around the complex talking and meeting people and it was concerning the hotel were not doing anything about it. We had to go to our tour operator to move us from this hotel. The staff are great and they were told by the management to deny and not say anything about it.

We stayed in the suite with jacuzzi, a brilliant self-contained space tastefully decorated and furnished with quality. The garden is large, with a couple of hammocks and the jacuzzi, which was very welcome after a couple of days of strenuous mountain hikes. We had fresh pomegranates from the garden every day. Arold and Alienka are perfect hosts, warm and welcoming and ever available to provide additional information and excellent local tips. Arold's breakfasts, served on a beautiful rooftop terrace, are an inventive delight and he served my wife the best gluten free pancakes she has ever had, as well as managing to give her gluten free bread that actually tasted delicious. A culinary genius. They clearly love their vocation and really enhance the holiday experience. The hotel is in a lovely peaceful location, surrounded by quaint narrow streets. (If you are thinking of hiring a car I'd recommend something small. Our hire car had multiple dents and heavy scratches). We went to four restaurants in the village, all within a 5 minute walk from the hotel, and all were very good. For fine dining, at reasonable prices, we especially loved La Vicaria. The closest restaurant, whose name escapes me, is run by a lovely, but bonkers, guy who serves local Canarian cuisine, basically whatever he fancies and has available, whilst happily chuntering away in Spanish despite being aware that we didn't speak the language. Good fun with excellent food. So, a perfect holiday in a perfect hotel in a perfect location. We hope to be able to return.
