Beautiful villas. Well maintained with excellent staff and a great buffet breakfast. Staff couldn’t do enough. Quiet location with car parking. Ideal for us to explore the south and a little of the west coast of the Algarve. Nearby Luz is a little gem and quick trip to Lagos for a beautiful narrow little centre with great restaurants and shopping.
Montinho de Ouro

The place is nice and remote and very peaceful. We stayed here during the first week of August. The staff work hard and they look after their guests. It’s obvious they take pride and it really shows. The rooms can vary, some are very nice, especially near the pool. They are more like studio rooms and very spacious. Both rooms we had also had a TV and a fridge. Quite a few reviews mention having a car. I recommend this, I thought I could get away without a car hire but later regretted it. Although saying that Bolt, Uber and FreeNow were great apps for cabs and the fares were crazy cheap. There is a 30 min walk to get to the beach, just check Apple/Google maps (we ignored the ‘private’ sign as it was a public path anyway :P Pros: - Wonderful staff - Peaceful location - Beautiful scenery - Amazing pool - Excellent rooms (ones we had 1 and 2) - Breakfast was ok - Manager lady is super helpful - Air-con - Fridge (for nice cold drinks) - Secure gated access Cons: - You need a car ideally - Some rooms didn’t look too great - Breakfast was ok - No dinner (although we did find out there was dinner if you asked, they would tell you what was available that evening) - No shops for quite a distance (if no car) I know I listed some cons, but they are more of guidance to take precautions like hire a car, get snacks and drinks from the local Spar, etc.. I loved our stay here, it was wonderful.
Quinta do Mar - Country & Sea Village

5 night stay end May beginning of July 2024. One bedroom terrace garden view terrace room with bathroom- bed and breakfast. Room with no window only balcony door with no bug net so no option to keep them open for night to get fresh air. Air-conditioning extreemly old made so much noise that could not have it on. Comfortble bed but very dated blanket. Room small, damp and very dated. Bathroom with smll window and shower over bath. All requires proper deep clean. Mould all over as on picture. Room was not clead throughout the whole stay- only rubbish takennout. Last day dropped hearband to the floor and found tomato under cupboard- not mine. Terrce with no sun launger. As well overtaken by ants so possibly would not be able to sit there anyway. Gardens very pleasant with beautifull flowers. Used only one swimming pool- good size but again not seen anyone maintaining it in the morning. This was possibly a very good resourte about 15 years ago but lacks of maintenance, renovation and cleaning. Breakfast- good coffee, nice staff. No heathy hot options. Boiled cold egg, scrmble and bacon...to many cakes to little healthy food. Good porridge and fruit. Location very remote, really enjoyed birds singing and clifs walk on your backyard. Will not be coming back, shame as looked really different and appealing on photos.
Belavista Da Luz - Wellness & Lifestyle Hotel

We have been visiting the Hotel Belavista for over 20 years now and have always had a most enjoyable holiday here. The hotel staff are extremely pleasant and helpful, Elke and Zinica on reception go out of their way to ensure that you have everything you require and sort out any problems that might arise. The standard of cleanliness of the hotel is excellent and the housekeeping staff keep the rooms and bathrooms exceptionally clean. Rosa has been there for the 20 years of our visits and works so hard with a real pride in her work. She is an absolute treasure for this hotel. The restaurant and pool bar staff were friendly and helpful and Manny was invaluable in managing breakfast as he has always done. The restaurant would be lost without him. We had a lovely holiday overall and enjoyed our break as we have always done. The hotel is in the process of being renovated and we feel we need to make the following comments. (as the new spa in the basement was not yet open on our visit this year we cannot comment on that). However the pros and cons of the renovations we experienced in our opinion are: Pros: Public areas and rooms have been modernised with new soft furnishings and the bathrooms have had a much needed upgrade. All very nice. New furniture on balcony, 2 chairs plus one comfortable chair (note, 2 comfortable chairs are needed as the chairs round the table are very uncomfortable to sit on and have no arms). Pool furniture has been replaced and is modern with two curtained day beds if you like that sort of thing. Fridges have been retained, an absolute must in the rooms here, along with tea and coffee making facilities. We understand that extra room mirrors and washing line on balcony are to be replaced too. Great news! Cons: sun loungers have been chosen for cheapness and clearly not sat upon by whoever chose them. They have a hard bar under the seat exactly where you sit and they are totally uncomfortable to use. Maybe ok if you only have two nights here but for a week or longer they are dreadful. They require replacing or a foam topper provided, deep enough not to feel the bar. Whilst the new umbrellas are very effective there are insufficient of them to go round if it is very hot. They are also cheap and the one we used already had one corner that had come away from frame. The pool bar has insufficient protection from the sun if you want to sit and eat there. There is a new wooden canopy but it doesn't cover all the tables and still lets sun through. This stopped us eating there at lunch time. Breakfast - oh dear! For twenty years we had the best ever cooked breakfast here - not anymore. The cooked food ie bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms are served in a mountain of garlicky grease and the bacon is no longer the lovely back bacon we used to get - again all on the cheap. We asked for poached eggs every day and only once were they cooked properly, mainly totally hard as bullets or on one occasion totally underdone. We tried to ask
Vila Luz

This place was pretty perfect for us! It had everything you need and plenty more too but without being unwelcoming or unfriendly. The staff were so lovely and seemed pleased to help whenever we asked anything of them. The room we stayed in was large, lovely, beautifully clean and provided all we could need as well as looking out over the ocean. We spent 5 nights without any issues at all and really loved our time there. The breakfast each morning was something we looked forward to as it was varied and great quality with variation each day and felt like a real treat. The decor is classy and understated in a way that makes you feel at home but also like you are getting a treat. Upon arrival we learned there was a sauna you could book and use which was small but perfect for us in an evening after good hikes during the day. The pool was cool but kept very well and, with everything, very relaxed and not loud or busy. The place was clearly pretty booked up but never felt busy or anything other than very relaxed and restful for us. Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to rest and enjoy in the area!
