After reading the reviews, we went to this hotel with mixed feelings and were definitely very pleasantly surprised. Since we didn't arrive until midnight, the key was kept in a key box and we were given the code for it beforehand. This all went smoothly. The stay was very pleasant, many thanks to the entire Touring au Lac team. However, I can't help but address the predominant criticisms of many of the reviews, as I find them incomprehensible to us and are simply unfair to the hotel staff: 1. Noise Yes, there is party noise outside the hotel every evening until late at night from the various outdoor bars at the harbor. But this is not the hotel's fault and everything is done to keep the ”nuisance” to a minimum for guests trying to sleep. The windows insulate really well, you can hardly hear anything when they are closed and if you prefer to sleep with the window open like we do, there are even earplugs ready for you on arrival. Anyone who expects absolute peace and quiet from a city hotel with such an excellent location (right by the harbor and just a few steps from the old town) is simply naive. 2. Rooms Yes, the rooms are not big, but hey, the building is quite old and that used to be the usual room size in hotel construction. In addition, the room size of each room category is clearly stated on the homepage and anyone who gives a bad review because of that is simply not being fair and only wants to harm the hotel. 3. Facilities OK, we were probably lucky because we had obviously been given a renovated room. The furniture was neither old nor worn, the beds were super comfortable and there was even air conditioning in the room (which we didn't need, however, as despite the hot days, wonderfully fresh air flowed into the room at night through the large windows). I don't know what the other rooms look like, but at least the hotel management is gradually remedying the lack of air conditioning. It should be clear to any logical person that you can't equip all rooms with air conditioning at once (cost factor). After all, the hotel is not run by a chain that can easily invest a six-figure sum. All of the points that the staff and hotel management can influence were absolutely right for us at the Touring au Lac: friendly staff, clean rooms and floors, room amenities (hairdryer, mineral water, coffee/tea, good TV). Everything was top notch. The price-performance ratio is absolutely right for this location. If you are looking for a good, central city hotel in one of the most beautiful small towns in Switzerland, this is the place for you.
Very Good
