This was my 3rd stay at the Riu Olivia Beach. Visited 18th September for a week. The hotel's location is the main reason I returned again. The weather was very hot. The actual hotel remains dated and is waiting for renovations to be approved although it does appear minor repairs are ongoing. My room (645) in the main building was a suite with separate bedroom and lounge and was clean. Towels replaced daily. No tea making facilities. Shower in bath. The rest of the hotel is clean. Food repetitive but always found something to eat. Self service Amstel lager, soft drinks etc. Staff friendly. Small shop onsite. Evening entertainment was ok. Bit of sun lounger reserving going on - the beach is an alternative venue with a few bars on it and loungers (paid for). I strolled along the beach to Corralejo a couple of times and less than an hour walk. Taxi back was 8 Euros. Outside the hotel on the main road is a bus stop and HiperDino supermarket. Taxi rank outside hotel. The lifts in the main building are worth a separate mention - 3 lifts and 1 didn't work. The other 2 were very slow, then when it did arrive usually already full of people, the doors sometimes start to close after a couple of seconds while you're still getting in and sometimes it didn't stop flush to the floor and you had to step up and out of the lift. They need servicing or something. This hotel is ideal if you want to be somewhere fairly quiet and in a fantastic location with sunny weather and you're not too fussed if everything isn't perfect. I hope to return for a 4th visit soon. Thank you all at the Riu Oliva Beach.

I rated a 3 because we stayed her last year and gave it a 5. It is a different experience. Clearly the leadership are delivering a different message to the staff. Last year they couldn’t do enough, we were blown away by the unique experience. We were so excited about coming back, but sadly we’ve been disappointed on numerous occasions. It’s just another hotel now. The staff appear gutted, I can only think this is the corporate experience as opposed to the previous boutique experience. It’s a beautiful hotel with great staff, but sadly they are not able to offer that unforgettable experience we had last year. It’s gone from a customer focus experienced to a revenue focused corporation. We felt like we were getting in the way here, that can be uncomfortable I was told that if I wanted to keep the iron for more than an hour I would have to be charged 9 euros….. in a 5 star hotel!! Bizarre.

Nice looking hotel was in the zensations building, premium junior suite, next to pool. Nice room, good size. Shame water not provided daily or water stations. Coffee was horrible. This was not replenished daily had to ask for milk, variety of tea bags limited. Cups too small. Had to order shower cap, bathroom amenities...ordered never arrived, did get extra pillows. TV good, brought firestick which earned great, had English channels as well. No ROOM SERVICE even though advertised on App and website. As rang to order was informed didn't do room service. Snacks aren't great same everyday. Ham burgers, hotdogs, onion rings, chips. Bit of salad. Top bar had a small selection of rolls some days, sandwiches hard and not pleasant. No umbrellas on tables, so beware even hot. Pools freezing cold... Food selection in evening was good and plentiful, loads of choice. Lunch was okay as well, not as good as evening. Breakfast had a good choice of cooked, cold and pastries. No choice of teas. Coffee from a machine. Drink quality was above average, wine was of a reasonable standard. Presseco was flat mist of the time. Lack of choice. Had 3 levels, normal all inclusive, silver then gold. We was silver but not much different from normal apart from giving access to rooftop bar. Most premium drinks carried an excess, ie aperol spritz would be 4 euros + on silver, slightly more on normal, slightly less on gold. Gold get to eat in a la carte restaurant, which isn't really a la carte as self service, except main dish is served to you. Had to book this could use once within 7 days. Didn't really use pools downstairs or see animation in day as was outside room or rooftop bar. Clean hotel, had animation in evening, had some decent acts. Room bit like Butlins. Lack of bars in evening, as only had entertainment bar and bar next to restaurant, and outside seating. Had entertainment here as well around 8ish, guitar or saxophone. Overall nice hotel, decent food, Lack of bar staff, not enough premium drinks. Probably worth 50% of what we paid for xmas. If normally around 600 would be good value for junior suite in zensations building. Fairly near to main town 20 min walk. Good bars, loads of shops, and restaurants great entertainment Square at end, bands on most evenings. Just round the corner is shops, bars and a centre with cafes, shops and entertainment whilst we was there at Xmas.

First the good news Good location. The staff are fantastic, friendly, helpful and work so hard.And always with a smile The rooms are comfortable and cleaned nearly everyday, fresh linen and towels every other day. The food was excellent and a wide choice offered.Additionally, a good drink selection offered. The buildings are looking a little tired and getting ready for an update. Some tiles around the pool and walkways were loose but attempts were being made to rectify. The hotel is described as 3*+ But in my opinion 3* is more accurate Now the bad news….. being reasonably priced it attracted some undesirable British Families who think it’s acceptable to sit and drink alcohol all day,allow their children run riot unchallenged, leave their rubbish for someone else to clear up. And then in the restaurant pile their plates to overflow, food dropping on the floor as they make their way back to the table, leave most of it and then re repeat with another selection. Not the fault of the staff, but I’ll let you decide whether you are prepared to accept it for a bargain holiday.

Feel a bit duped with this hotel. We stayed several years ago when it was Atlantis and weren’t impressed then. We booked a last minute getaway for new year and didn’t realise it was the same hotel under a new name. If anything it’s worse than it was in my opinion. The room- very dated and not changed since we last visited. Ours was dirty, mouldy bathroom, cracks in ceilings, dead bugs squashed into the walls, sons pull out bed was all stains, lots of dead bugs stuck behind the net on the window. My clothes when packing to come home were all really musty smelling. WiFi absolutely terrible, air con was a joke, absolutely roasting in the room. First night there i stood on a piece of broken glass, must have been missed by the maids. Floors were manky, umpteen pairs of white socks ruined. The view from balcony was a building site. Shower doors didn’t attach at the bottom or close properly. Pool area- main pool was heated but really small, it advertises 6 pools but they are all really tiny. Used to have foam parties and entertainment/dancing round the pool for the kids, none of that now. Usual beds being reserved and not used despite there being signs saying not too. Toilets at the main pool were absolutely horrendous, flooded daily, no lights, no hand dryers, walked back to room to use the toilet. Wouldn’t let my 12 year old son use the gym with his dad. At home he uses the gym daily so really missed this (partly my fault for not reading small print) just said it was their rules (pity they didn’t follow other rules as much) ie sunbed reserving, not letting kids touch food etc in the buffet, also saw underage drinkers, maybe 14 years old drunk and loud. . Granted this is also the parents supplying it but staff must have saw and heard them. Also young kids barefoot in the restaurant and picking food up and putting it back. We ate out every single night, food for us was just awful. Lukewarm if you were lucky, not great choices. I understand this is a personal thing but comparing this to other all inclusive we’ve been to all over the world id go as far to say that this is the worst. Pink chicken at the bbq. I’ve posted a few pics of some of the things. Large Queues for drinks, food, toilet, reception!! Had to pay for a bottle of water for the room as they wouldn’t supply it, at a 4* all inclusive, this is just unheard of. The 20 euro deposit for towels was strange to us also, never had this before, usually just towel cards. And to say you only get 1 wash per week for them. The token system introduced for drinks could be annoying as well. They say to reduce plastic but the tumblers were reusable anyway. But they’ve introduced small plastic tubs of ice cream rather than the different flavours they used to have when you just helped yourself to scoops. Regularly had to go on the hunt for cups, glasses etc at breakfast. Lesson learnt from now on I’ll be checking and double checking when booking. Absolutely not a four star.
