So we were were a little disappointed by San Lameer. The security to enter and exit made me wonder if politicians were negotiating major trade deals or controversial war ceasefires. Whilst I do understand the need for good security it seemed a bit over the top. Back show a room was in a dingy section of the hotel 201 and whilst we had a good view the furniture in the room was tired and everything seemed to me to suggest it needed somebody with a good eye to give it some upgrades which would probably not have cost much money. We had two televisions but one of them was permanently blue tinged. We had breakfast and although the staff were unusually busy it appeared that they were not prepared and a bit over it, particularly the egg station. The omelets were very good though. Afterwards I had a swim and the pool water was like milk. You could not see your hand as you were swimming and for lap swimmers you kept having to look up for fear of running into the end of the pool and ending up with big dental bills. There could have been bodies on the bottom of the pool and you would not have seen them. I mentioned this in reception and they did not seem to understand the issue which apart from being unpleasant was a genuine safety issue as the pool deep end is 1.8 m. We had some issues that morning leaving on time as the checkout is early at 10:00 a.m. and I asked for an extension and they said 10: 30 and then we received a phone call at approximately 10: 55 (our bad) saying we had overstayed our welcome. Thanks though for allowing us the extra time.
