Apartments in Crete, Greece

I was very pleased with my stay here for 6 nights. I arrived late at night so the hotel reception was a little tricky to find, and I was nervous since all the shops were closed and the streets were kind of empty but actually the neighborhood is entirely safe and right in the middle of all the action. I loved having everything right at my doorstep - restaurants, shopping, the old town center. The room was clean and actually much larger than I expected. Good wifi, powerful air conditioner, comfortable bed. Overall I had a great stay and highly recommend for anyone watching their budget but wanting to be in the heart of everything.

Crete is probably our favourite Greek destination and frequently visit Heraklion for a few days before venturing to other parts of this vast beautiful island! Previously, we had always selected to stay in a hotel but due to the current pandemic we felt reticent due to the various restrictions imposed, hence losing the overall hotel ambience! It was for this reason I decided to search for an alternative and fortunate to come across the City Lion Apartments! The brand new apartments, completed 2020, are located metres away from the famous Morisini Fountain! The building has been restored and extended to feature one/two bedroom apartments! Although only two of us, we chose the two bedroom loft apartment featuring a mezzanine floor! The apartment is fully fitted with all the mod cons, fully fitted kitchen, dining area, bathrooms second to none, air con, international tv stations etc! The apartment also had a balcony so we could view the everyday life of this vibrant city! Christos, our host was most welcoming and, along with Michael, went to great lengths to make sure our stay lived up to expectations! City Lion Apartments, Heraklion, is without doubt a 5* accommodation amidst this wonderful historic city!

The hotel is not in the old town of Iraqi Lion, but the location is very good, 5 minutes walk from the station, parking around is also convenient. The room was clean, spacious, quiet and the facilities were very new. We enjoyed our stay very much. Hotel service is also very good, help us call a taxi. Many local rentals in Heraklion do not play tables, so I ask for the hotel, which is very convenient. Recommended stay.

Home now from a wonderful stay at Mary. Everyone there goes out of their way to make your stay special and you leave feeling like part of the family. Even leaving a gift for you at the end, such a thoughtful and kind gesture. The hotel itself is super clean, rooms are large and very well equipped and appointed. We loved our room D12, with two balconies to watch the sun come up on one and go down from the other! Again all staff are super friendly and helpful, the bar serves great Raki 😉 and good food too! The location is fab, with lots of Tavernas, bars, bakeries, shops and supermarkets on your doorstep. We particularly enjoyed Finikas and Sky park for dinner. The beach is only a few minutes walk away with loungers and parasol for just €7 at Pavlou beach. Hire a car if you can and go and explore as much of this beautiful island as you can. Crete really is stunning. We will certainly be recommending this hotel to family and friends and we hope to return sometime soon too! Just back from an amazing week at Ledra Maleme. I cannot put one word of criticism for this brilliant place. It was spotlessly clean, perfectly located just 5 mins from the beach, supermarket and local restaurants, the room was modern and beds comfortable and clean. The pool is the only holiday pool I have ever been in that is at the perfect temperature, no shock getting in, just cool enough to take the heat out. We ate at the hotel a few times and the food was freshly cooked and so tasty. Cretian night was great fun! Mr Costas works so hard to make sure all the guests are looked after. Every aspect of the holiday was perfect, from the taxi transfer, to getting the little train to the waterpark, the bus to chania, the weather if course, and Cretian people are so welcoming and helpful, I simply cannot fault it at all. Perfect!!! Thank you Crete!

We are currently on our last day at Minos village after being here for 10 nights! This hotel is the perfect hidden gem. The rooms are spotless, modern and have everything you need. I brought my hairdryer and have not used it once as the ones provided is fabulous. We stayed in a 1 bed apartment room 301 overlooking the pool. The hotel is nice and small with around 20 sunbeds, some days you needed to pick your patch but most of the time there were some available. If not the beach is a sort walk away with loads of choice for sunbeds. The hotel is situated next to 5 taverna all traditional Greek food which we have eaten at most. Then a short walk down the hill takes you to the main *****. The pool bar is where you eat breakfast with a range of choice from hot English breakfast to meats, cheeses and pastries. They also have a snack menu, ice creams and drinks throughout the day. All of the staff are super friendly and always happy to help with anything your need. We really have had the best time and can not wait till tell our friends and family about the hotel. We will definitely be back! Thank you for having us ❤️

For many years I have traveled 100 or more days a year. In SEP-OCT 2022, I traveled for a month in Greece staying at 12 hotels (and on an overnight Ferry). In this context and related to price, Heraklion Old Port Apartments was above average. PROS: Cost was very reasonable. The room with living room was clean, very spacious and with a well provided kitchen and fridge (supermarket food was extremely inexpensive in Crete). There were extra towels so no need for service. The young woman at the desk was very helpful and cordial. CONS: Close to the old port but about 700 meters to center of town and more to the National Museum or the main bus station (to Knossos or to the beaches). Still all can be reach by walking. The add say the room had great views which did not materialize. Heraklion has a lively main street around the fountain of the lions and a Great museum on the Minoan civilization which was spectacular. The museum in Heraklion was great but Knossos (reach by city bus) was very disappointing since I care for historical archaeology and not for the distorted recreation of the site by an over-imaginative British amateur. The beaches near Heraklion (which can be reach by inexpensive regular city buses) are adequate but not spectacular. In late September the beaches were not crowded at all, but still with warm water to swim. Heraklion was of interest in itself and where I rented the car to visit the rest of Crete (Xania with a picturesque Venetian port, spectacular Elefonsina Beach great for snorkeling, great ruins of Faestos, and many other atttractions). I spent 6 nights in Crete and could have enjoyed another week at least. Next trip I will stay longer in Crete. Parting remarks: Greece is wonderful, except for the touristic islands which were crowded even in October and I may skip them altogether next time. The Peloponesse resulted better than expected. Athens was safe anytime anywhere I moved, even after midnight. Travel light because not all hotels have elevators and in ancient towns you will climb many stairs and walk over cobblestones. Missing church number 59 was OK, sitting in a café watching people go by and doing nothing was inspiring even for hyper me. I had a wonderful trip.

From the moment we checked-in to the our check-out, the hotel staff was helpful and accommodating. Mary checked us in and helped us with our air-conditioning since we had an issue turning it on. Mary greeted us with a homemade Greek drink and we had complimentary snacks in our room. The location was perfect for us as we took the ferry into Heraklion and walked about 10 minutes from the ferry dock to the hotel. I chose this hotel due to our transportation needs. Our plan was to stay one night and we needed to take the bus from Heraklion to Chania, and the Central Bus Station is right across from the hotel, which made everything easy and convenient. We also took the local bus to Knossos Palace, and the bus stop happened to be across from the hotel as well. Since we only stayed for one night, the hotel has a luggage room that we used because we wanted to tour Knossos Palace the morning we checked-out. I highly recommend this hotel to others.

I have had a very good experience. For a sudden illness I had to cancel the booking the same day I should arrive, and they were so nice to refund me the money, reselling the room thanks , very polite people They wrote me immediately as soon as they found to rebook the room

overall a lovely hotel with a great pool and poolside area as well as lovely food. the music around the pool is good but repeats the same songs a few times a day which can be annoying when picked up on. the room i stayed in was nice and had cooking utensils and appliances as well as a fridge/freezer that stays on even without the keycard in the slot whilst you are out of the room. however, the shower did not hold itself up on the wall so we had to create a creative diy solution. in addition i found the bed and pillows to be quite uncomfy but my boyfriend had no issues with them. the room doesn’t get too hot just a bit stuffy as the aircon does not come with the room and if very expensive per night (€10 for one night and €8.50 for multiple nights) so we did not end up getting it. there was no hairdryer in the room but upon asking at reception we were able to get one for free.
