The staff, accommodations, and location at the Reykjavik Residence Hotel were exceptional! We traveled with 3 families from the USA to Iceland with our elderly parents as part of our dad's 80th birthday bucket list. We corresponded with the hotel staff via email before our trip and they were very prompt and helpful in answering questions. You never know when you're emailing a hotel operation if you'll even get a reply. Imagine our delight when they replied quickly and were extremely helpful, even with offering restaurant suggestions or to call taxis for us. We organized the airport pickup car service which made our arrival very easy. With 6 people and lots of luggage, the car size was adequate and driver very professional. The driver took us to the hotel reception desk. We'd taken a red-eye flight and the hotel staff greeted us with a very warm welcome. They offered us coffee, a place to sit, and use of bathrooms. The reception area was comfortable and the bathroom even had a full-size luxurious tiled shower if needed (definitely not a truck stop shower here!). Our rooms weren't ready so they stored our luggage at no charge and were very accommodating when we needed to retrieve items. Upon check-in, they called a taxi to transport us and our luggage and to the building. It was only a few minutes walk, but this was very thoughtful considering it was a cold and windy winter day. Our building was newly renovated and was very clean and fresh. We had rooms on the basement level, the main level, and the top floor. Each room was spacious, had a large kitchen, and clean and comfortable bathrooms. The basement room had a full-size sliding door that walked outside. The top room had a mini balcony that overlooked the harbor. We'd read some reviews about a sulphur smell in the bathrooms or the water supply. We didn't experience this at all. In fact, we routinely filled our water bottles with the tap water in the rooms and it was perfect to drink. They performed daily housekeeping service automatically and we left laundry one day which was returned within 24 hours with no problems. Definitely take the breakfast option. The bread is baked fresh, filled with air pockets and crusty outside. Hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt (skyr), meats, and cheese. This was a great way to start the day. Coffee was included in the room and the kitchens also had mini-fridges which included a supply of milk and apple juice. The beds were very comfortable and rooms were well-heated. Wi-fi was fast and included. We spent one week at the hotel and highly recommend staying here. It was the size and layout of an apartment, with the amenities and service of a 5-star hotel. Things to watch out for: If you're traveling with others, try to arrange to be in the same building. The buildings are definitely spread out and are a far distance from the reception area. We stayed here for two nights by the end of our holiday in Iceland. It is located a few minutes drive from the city centre. The studio was of very good size with wide window. The bed and the pillow are reasonably comfortable. Towels are provided every other day but fine to us. The table which was supposed to be for dinning is pretty small though. We did not use the kitchen which has limited but sufficient utensils. The bathroom is on the small size but quite functional with strong shower. But there are a few things. First, there is no on-site staff and the entry was keyless by codes which are supposed to be emailed to us. We have not received the email. We called the number displayed in the notice on the ground floor which was immediately answered. It was found out that the email provided by expedia.com (I made booking through Agoda) was not related to me. The second problem was that, after resolving this without delay, we entered the room and found that the bathroom door was damaged to the extent that it could not be shut. Called again and this was not resolved by the first staff without returning a call to us as promised. We called the second time when Maria was a lot more helpful but was not able to contact the manager after many attempts. This was not resolved until the next day. The third problem is about parking, there were no instructions or advice as to where should we park, except for display of some non-English signs.

We had a fantastic stay at Sif Apartments in Reykjavik. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with our 2 teenage boys. The apartment was really clean and well laid out and kitchen well equipped. Having 2 bathrooms was really handy. The covered balcony was a really nice touch. It was within walking distance to the city centre and about a minute walk to bus stop 12 for most tour pickups. It was quiet in the neighbourhood so nice and quiet. The communication was excellent throughout and we knew exactly what we needed to do. There are grocery shops close by so we cooked most nights and made sandwiches for the day to try and shield ourselves from the prices We had a car which we parked in the underground car park. This was probably the only negative it’s quite expensive and the parking app pretty rubbish along with the pay machine. It scans your number plate on entry but when you leave you still have to put in your entry time. It was all a little weird and easy to get wrong. It is an underground car park though so protected from the elements! Overall a very positive experience and we will definitely stay again if in Reykjavík. Plus we saw the Northern Lights which was a massive bonus!

It has a kitchenette, but no microwave. The location is in the heart of the most touristy part of Reykjavik. This is the third hotel I’ve stayed in while traveling to Reykjavik. The others, both lower priced, were not afflicted with the smell of sulphur (rotten eggs) in the water. It is possible to filter this out, and a person paying the price this hotel is asking should be able to expect better quality water. If you want to be in the thick of the tourist action and don’t mind smelly water, this place is OK. Otherwise…

This apartment is in the city center. The location is very good. The room is large and has all the facilities. It also has a kitchen with new pots and pans. The room is also very clean and the heating is on. However, there is no parking lot in the hotel, so parking is very troublesome. , and many roads are one-way streets. The check-in front desk is in another hotel, which takes three minutes to walk. Moreover, the first floor is very noisy. You can hear the sounds of cars and people on the road clearly. It is basically impossible to sleep in the morning.

Check-in and check-out instructions were clear. Emails were received promptly prior to our stay. Good location - apartment was easy to find and very close to Laugavegur Shopping Street. Convenience store (Vikivaki, I believe it was called) is just right in front. ”Bonus” grocery store is also nearby (around 5 mins walk). Good base for tours as Bus Stops #9 and #10 are just close by (around 3-5 mins. walk). Apartment was very clean and cozy, with soft comfy beds. Good amount of space to move around. Kitchen essentials were available - pots, pans, dishwashing soap, plates, utensils, spices, coffee machine and pods, tea, spices were available. Bathroom was clean and spacious. Perfect for stays with family (4-5 persons)!

I had a wonderful stay. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The location was perfect for reaching different areas on foot or by car. Parking was always available right in front. The surrounding area has a supermarket within steps. So convenient. Communication was easy. I definitely recommend a stay here and I will stay again.

The kitchen sink and shower seemed to be clogged and water would accumulate. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, utensils, but no microwave. There is an attached parking lot which is very convenient. There is a washing machine attached. Still a highly recommended place to stay.

This home is really very satisfying, apartment-style hotel with kitchen is very convenient for cooking. The outdoor temperature in Iceland is very low, but the heating in the house is not enough at all. Very close to the city center, walking about 5-10 minutes

I have nothing to say, I highly recommend it, there are several advantages: 1. Although it does not contain breakfast, the pots and pans are all full, you can do it, and you can eat well; 2. The problem is coming, what do you do? Shopping? The road is opposite to the supermarket, and there are supermarkets around, everything is there; 3. The location is not in the city, but the road within 4 kilometers, the basic self-driving here, so there is no problem; 4. The airport is closer than the city, and it will be fast in a while.

Great location just outside the city which made it easy to access highways to travel. Very clean. Spacious. Amazing quick response from management whenever we had questions. We were able to check in early for a minimal fee as our flight arrived in the morning Highly recommend

Very good boss, personally serviced after we arrived, knew that we stayed for another night, gave us a free upgrade, the room was new, and personally sent us into the room, the service attitude was absolutely good.
