Gingerhill Farm Retreat
4.4/524 Reviews
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Gingerhill! 5 out of 5 stars, 2 thumbs up, would do again. We stayed in the Jungle Canopy, which is a perfect oasis for two. We like to travel more DIY-style (and honestly, on a budget) and this fit the bill perfectly. It’s pretty much as described - a glamping tent canopy with a small kitchenette, running water, toilet, and outdoor hot shower. If you are looking for 5-star accommodations and lux service, then this is not the place for you, but if you want a nice retreat from the tourist bustle and like to travel more on the independent side, you can’t go wrong here. After a long day exploring, it felt so good to come back to our little jungle retreat and rest and recuperate. The bed is amazingly comfortable. Once we got used to the noisy nightlife, we slept very well. The kitchenette has a small refrigerator, hotplate, sink, and - very important - coffee grinder, coffee provided! and french press. The basics in terms of dishes, utensils, etc are also provided. A major bonus were the farm kitties who came by to say hello multiple times. All our interactions with the owners and staff were lovely - they were very quick to respond to any of our requests for assistance or amenities. Some tips for anyone booking here and important to note - this is only for the Jungle Canopy - all of the accommodations are slightly differently equipped: 1 - bring headlamps and extra lighting - maybe a solar lamp or two. These were absolutely essential. While there is modest lighting, it wasn’t quite adequate especially after dark. You really are surrounded by jungle vegetation and natural lighting is limited. 2 - bring ear plugs. The frogs and jungle life at night are pretty deafening at first. We needed ear plugs the first couple of nights and then, amazingly, we adapted and were able to sleep without them. Tips that go beyond the Jungle Canopy: 3 - There is a very good grocery store less than 5 minutes from Gingerhill - the KTA. We got everything we needed there, service was friendly and we were pleasantly surprised to find that prices were not as expensive relative to the mainland as we expected. 4 - Our favorite snorkeling spot, or at least, in our top 3, was one of the closest to Gingerhill. There is an informal parking area for the Captain Cook Monument hiking trail about 5 minutes away. The hike is a bit long and steep compared to other places with closer ocean access, but the snorkeling there was on par with everything else we explored. It had perhaps the most abundant fish we saw. 5 - If you’ve done your homework, you know that a lot of sunscreen is not good for coral reefs. While you can buy “reef-safe” sunscreen, the best option is none at all. Consider using long-sleeve rash guards or dive skins instead - it offers superior sun protection with no concerns about harmful chemicals in the water.

Aston Kona by The Sea

The Condo was in good condition, could’ve used new carpet and paint touch up but despite that very clean!!! The size the condo was perfect and we could see the ocean from the patio doors. The kitchen was well serviced with clean nice dishes. The washer/dryer was a fabulous feature we used!! The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Parking was including and easy to find. Condo was close to Kona Inn shopping and the bypass road used for Hwy 11. Would definitely recommend staying there!!! The guest book in the condo to write your own entry was so fun to read what other guests had done!!
Aston at the Executive Centre Hotel

Downtown Honolulu
Located in the legendary city center. The mattress was sunken, and it was covered with a blanket, and the color was a bit inexplicable. Intensely contact yourself and bring a 4-piece set. Due to the old mattress, the head and feet are higher than the buttocks after going to bed. Service is acceptable. The air-conditioning sound is crazy loud, estimated to be 50 decibels. The space is larger and the sea view is a little bit too. The equipment is relatively complete, and you can cook if you are diligent.

I stayed at Hilton a few months ago. I would definitely stay at Ilikai if I had to choose between the two. I could stay in an ocean view room with a kitchen for less though the room was a little outdated and less beautiful than the room at Hilton. The staff was all friendly. I got a free ice cream, two bottles of water, and a newspaper every day in addition to admissions to two museums.
Banyan Harbor Resort

Our family rented 7 different condos for wedding. Each one was different decorated and layout - the Banyon was perfect. Location is excellent - close to airport, ABC Store, etc. Walk to beautiful beach, stroll along the path near Marriott and Dukes - at night tiki lights . Had 2bed/2bath for my husband and 2 adult sons. It was a nice separation. The kitchen had dishwasher, coffee machine, pots, silverware, plates, microwave, refrigerator - we cooked breakfast. Able to see the Disney Wonder from pool area - very nice - pool area has BBQ, showers, bathrooms (didn’t use but were in good condition). Parking can be tight at times, but we always found a parking spot near by condo. Enjoyed the chickens. There are fancier places to stay - but much more expensive with parking and resort fees - for the price - Great stay - I would come back.
Aston Islander on The Beach

It's not what it seems. It is a hotel that has very good things and others not so much. When we arrived we were given a room with a double bed and a sofa bed. We had booked a twin room and were told this was Trip's problem. That they only guarantee the views. All the furniture is wooden and very old. The old sofa, with a thin mattress and perforated sheets... Finally the next day we were changed to a room with two beds (and sea view) which was much better. However, the furniture was also old. It is advertised here that the cleaning of the room is daily but it is not true. They clean only one day for stays of at least 5 nights. If you are staying less than a few days and you want the room to be made for you, 50 USD. If you want clean towels, 10USD. The hotel does not have elevators, so you have to carry your bags up the stairs to the room (on the floor you are on). Just arriving they charge you 147.45USD in taxes (amenity fee, ta tax, ge tax, county ta tax...). Good: Prime location, in front of (private) beach, with restaurants, supermarkets and shops next door. The main road is right there. Swimming pool with hammocks and a bar (opens at 3pm). There is a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave in the room.
Aston Waikiki Sunset

The room is reasonably designed and is a suite with two bedrooms inside and outside, suitable for family travel. Open kitchen, large dining table, complete pots and pans, clean and organized. The sea view room on the 27th floor has a wide view and good sound insulation effect. This was a very satisfying stay, a perfect ending. When I got into the elevator, I met a couple with five children. I guess adding an extra bed, a matching double sofa bed and a 1.8-meter large bed would be very comfortable. You can go to a Japanese-run supermarket in 10 minutes, which offers good quality and low prices. You can get discounts on fruits and vegetables if you enter your passport. There is a bar on the first floor with singers, as shown in the picture below. Five minutes walk to the beach.

If you book a foreign hotel, you don't need to find Ctrip! If you book a foreign hotel, you don't need to find Ctrip! ! If you book a foreign hotel, you don't need to find Ctrip! ! ! Up to now, Ctrip has not shown the extra cost to the front desk. After Ctrip has paid the money, you will wait for the cleaning fee of 115 knives for the cleaning fee of 115 knives at the front desk. It is almost another time. It’s a fee. Where to fly the pig or something will show the extra cost, how does Ctrip have done so many comments reflect this problem or ignore it? It’s just a big bully. After an hour of international calls and Ctrip tears, I went to the beach to watch the sunset, completely ruining my mood. Ctrip said that we are half out, it is already very kind, we did not write is our fault, but these costs are international practice, you should pay. We have already suggested, “You may need to pay other taxes in accordance with local regulations.” So in Ctrip booking hotels, will you encounter these extra costs, you will definitely look at luck. Hehehe, as a 5-year-old user, turned from this powder to black.
