Booking online with Trip was simple. The Dorsett have clean rooms and staff are lovely, plus it's attached to the Gold Coast Casino. I was pleasantly surprised that the hotel is equipped for people with disabilities or use a wheelchair. This includes self opening and closing doors, shower and toilet set up with aids that can be pulled out to accommodate needs and there are wheelchair touch buttons for opening the door.
I showered before going out and it flooded the bathroom, luckily there were 2 infloor drains. Within 2 mins or asking for maintenance they had a lovely young man up to fix it, then another minute later housekeeping arrived with fresh towels. The maintenance man also gave me a good rundown and recommendations on the restaurant's at the Casino.
2 negatives -
1st, it is hard to work out where to park as you use the Casino parking, the carpark directs you where to go but there is no clear signage on where the hotel lifts are. I only knew this from a past visit over 2yrs ago. This is something that needs sorting out.
2nd, the entrance address for the hotel foyer is actually on the Casino entry side, so you drive around looking for it. I now know that instead of turning off onto The Darling Ave, as gps instructed, you take the slip road before The Darling Ave exit. This takes you past the residential tower and to the front of the hotel

Lovely hotel located at the other end of the Esplanade. The broad walk at the back of the hotel was nice to stroll along and an easy way to get to the city center. Kudos to the reception staff, Riccardo for leaving a really good first impression when I first arrived. He was so clear in explaining everything I needed to know before I checked in, and subsequent days when I saw him he was also really helpful with whatever requests I had. The room was big and spacious, very comfy beds!! The housekeeping staff were also friendly whenever I saw them as I head out for the day. Food from the room service was tasty. However, the breakfast buffet options were almost the same everyday though, wish there could have been more variety. But overall, I still had a rather pleasant stay here(:
Very nice room with good layout and spacious enough. Near pool and restaurant, I'm glad it was a quiet Monday night and not a weekend otherwise noise could have been an issue. Good service and tasty food. The place had a nice atmosphere, great to meet friends or family and enjoy the ambience.
It is the best hotel in Airlie Beach. The scenery is unbeatable, the facilities are good, the hotel story and the founder's development vision and the final implementation effect are all great!
The room is very clean, and the kitchenette has a microwave, which is very convenient. The only thing I can't accept is that the owner is Italian š The quilt is a sheet sandwich towel blanket with a few small bumps, but it's still good overall

The location was close to airport and Cairns cbd.
Room was clean and bed and sheets were clean.
We got Garden view which was on second floor. It was quiet and if you are travelling with big suitcases consider being on first or second floor.
Staff were freindly.
Pools were clean and great for a family with young kids. Having cafe and playground next to the pool was perfect.
Defenitly will consider this place for next trips to Cairns.
Great location and secure no need at ease breakfast is yum coffee is hot can sit back and relax and enjoy the weekend and they have it covered the rest of your stay .
Thanks guys 10/10
Best part I loved was the balcony room 1502 pretty sure because this is right in the 0ath of fresh air .
And room service quick and affordable.
Having previously stayed at the Airline Beach Hotel, this time, with school holidays driving prices through the roof, I decided to give this place a try.
First, the positives: While not directly on the main street, there's a bus stop right outside, and a Coles supermarket and a few restaurants are just a few hundred meters' walk away, which makes up for not being in the livelier main area. The staff were also very welcoming. The pool area is beautiful, and on sunny days, the water color is simply delightful.
A few things to note: The rooms aren't large, so if room size is a major concern, keep that in mind. They have a rustic, holiday cottage style. One side of the room features a large glass panel, so those who value privacy will need to remember to draw the curtains. For environmental reasons, daily housekeeping isn't typically provided during your stay. If you need fresh towels or anything similar, you can just ask at the front desk.
My friend and I stayed here for three days. There were different social activities every night. We could play board games, taste cheese, sip red wine and enjoy grilled sausages with friends from different places. Friends who are not good at socializing can pet Spider, the store dogš¶
The kitchen is fully equipped with pots and pans, and basic seasonings are provided. There is a whole wall of refrigerators, so you donāt have to worry about not being able to put the purchased ingredients because there are too many guests. In the morning, simple toast, spreads, milk and tea bags are provided as breakfast.
I stayed in a quadruple room. The environment and shared bathroom were quite clean and there was air conditioning in the room. Unfortunately, the mattress was a bit soft and the soundproofing in the room was not very good. It seemed that no one stopped the guests from making noises and laughing by the swimming pool late at night, which made it difficult to fall asleep.
Itās nice and quiet, and pretty comfy, but thereās still a bunch of hair on the floor, and it doesnāt look super clean. The staff seemed a bit confused with the info, but itās all good. Just donāt expect five-star service, thatās all.
It was great stay. Clean room, quiet, peaceful ambiance plus the beach itself. Professional staff. In short we love it ā¤ļø

PPippa-louisePlace is amazing clean , fresh and of high standard .
But when it comes to booking and service this is another story .. for the money I paid to stay 2 night I thought this would be the perfect place to rest Iām 5 star style .. place yes , service a disaster. Firstly when I arrived at Swiss bel .. I went to reception to book in as I booked online a queen bed room he asked if I had a vehicle I said yes agreed to the $35 a night and he said he would just take it out of the bond I paid at end if that was ok I said yes perfect .. when I got up to my room it was 2 single I called reception and advised I had booked a queen bed and there is 2 singles he said oh the house keeper hadnāt changed the beds or didnāt look at booking , I asked if someone could just come up and fix .. he said there is noone to do this now come down and j will find another room for you . I went down stairs said I would go get something to eat and when I come back hopefully a room will be sorted. I came back he advised me that he had upgraded me and I asked if I could have the new key and I will switch rooms and come back down with the other key to save me bringing my luggage down and then back up again. I got to room and key didnāt work to go to 6th floor . So I brought my luggage down and told reception that key didnāt work . He said sometimes this happens with those keys /actually quite often said he would come up with me and check . Yes card did not work so he used his staff card to let me in said he would fix and come back . He came back 10mins later to test and it had been foxed . Not sure what the upgrade as as room was smaller than the first , had no shower gel (was empty container when I went into have a shower) thought it may have been replenished on next day with room
Clean still empty on second day and cleaner took face washers and never replaced them so I washed with shampoo and a hand towel .. when I came back on second day went to put card into open the car park and it didnāt work .. I went to reception to let them know I was trying to get into car park and the card doesnāt work, she (Asian lady) advised me that I hadnāt paid for parking .. I had to explain everything from the night before then asked me they will take it out of my bind I said yes thatās what I agreed with the night before . No apology just more interested in getting payment for parking. She added parking to
Card then said she would come out and make sure it worked as I said the night before man had to come
And make sure carry worked she forgot card for
The card so
Went back into get then came out .. followed me down then gave me a card .. I later received a phone call from a lady called Theresa asking how my stay was and I explain that it has been the most disappointing experience I have had ever ! Explained the above she said she would come and replace the shower gel and face washers I said itās ok I have already had my shower used a hand towel and shampoo because Iām already in bed .. she said that I hope that my stay apologetic on my experience already , I hope it is better from now and if I need anything to contact her and ask for Theresa I said thank you I appreciated the call ⦠then then 10
Minutes later she comes knocking on my door I have to get dress to answer the door she knocks again I said Iām coming
She is at the door with the shower gel and face washers getting me out of bed . I understand why she brought it but I told her I was in bed and I had already showered . So then I go to hand my key in to check out to be told I have outstanding parking I need to pay .. I advised Theresa that it is coming out of the bond payed and this has been told now to 3 people .. as I said place is absolutely fantastic.. apart from missing shower gel and tissues
Not sure what or how I was uograded as the room was smaller and no window as in first room

CChih minWe stayed in the hotel for three daysļ¼7/7-7/10ļ¼. On the first day, no one came to clean the room. We thought we needed to notify the service counter to arrange cleaning. On the second day, we used the ācleaning notificationā button on the phone in the morning, but no one came to clean the next day. On the third day, we reported it to the service counter in the morning, and they said they would arrange for a cleaning staff. As a result, when we returned to the room on the third night, we found that it was still not cleaned (this was the first time we were deceived). So we called the service counter again, hoping that at least they could change the bath towels for us to use. The service counter staff replied that they would ask someone to bring us clean bath towels, but they did not keep their promise in the end. We were deceived again.
GGuest UserOnly lost one point from me, because of the WiFi signal but I can live without I'm just glad I don't have the kids with me. Personally apart from that my stay was flawless. It has the perfect, location, service, security, cleanliness, not overly priced and I've also saved a lot of cigarettes (because I'm too lazy to walk outside to have one). Then there's the bed!! Wow the bed is lovely, on arrival I had things to do but I laid down for a ālittle bitā and I woke up at midnight š¬š®š
I will definitely be returning in the future. .
GGuest UserExcellent location. Room was spacious. A pillow case had mildew stains on. Iām not sure how a tall person would be able to shower in the bathtub.š¤. I guess food warming would have been provided for if we contacted room service.
All in all we loved it. The buffet breakfast was great and the staff there also.
Thank you Mercure on George!

AAnonymous UserI was mostly happy with the resort. There were some things missing like more food options (only two restaurants) and small luxuries like a sauna for example. Itās also hard to rate the staff as you had some incredibly helpful staff and then some real depressing ones that were just rude. The only other thing that was a bit of a shock was that the beaches were just full of dead coral and no sand. I hadnāt been to one of the islands in the Whitsundays so I was surprised to see that. The photos of the resort did not show this so it would have been nice to know so it didnāt lead to disappointment. Some positives though is that the resort was beautifully designed and they offered a lot of free water activities like kayaking for example. The buffet breakfast was also really nice.
GGuest UserThe hotel is pretty mediocre; both the cleanliness and facilities are quite old and worn. The location is good, but be aware that you have to pay a separate 200 AUD deposit, which is credit card only ā no cash accepted. What's more, they take an excessively long time to process the refund after you check out. We stayed on August 8th and 9th, and it's already the 15th, but we still haven't received our deposit refund! This is absolutely unacceptable and incredibly frustrating. Why do they charge such a substantial deposit and then take so long to return it?
RRay_ToowoombaVery close to the Fortitue valley bar area.
Pool is small on the roof top so itās not heated.
Generally quite good.
Not exactly located at the central CBD.
PPrasadThis hotel is spectacular!!! Not enough words can express how beautiful it is. Every staff member made you individually feel welcomed and genuinely looked after. Each person always had a smile and genuinely wanted to help. For example Gina and Alex in the breakfast restaurant Critique were extremely helpful and at your service. Rahul at reception was helpful and explained all the hotel facilities. The maintenance manager was extremely polite, friendly and helpful. The lagoon area made you feel as if you were in Bali, Phuket etc. To say it is spectacular is an understatement. For my entire stay, each staff member made my birthday extremely special, memorable and second to none ever experienced before. Thank you all the staff at JW.
WWillI recently stayed at Hides Hotel during a trip to Cairns and was pleasantly surprised by the value and charm this heritage-style hotel offers.
The location is absolutely unbeatableāright in the heart of the city and within walking distance of the Esplanade, night markets, Reef Fleet Terminal, and plenty of restaurants and cafes. Whether youāre heading out for a reef tour or just exploring the local area, Hides is a super convenient base.
The room was basic but clean and comfortable. It had everything I needed, including air-conditioning (a must in Cairns!), a small fridge, and free Wi-Fi. The building itself has an old-school character thatās a bit different from your typical chain hotels, which I actually really likedāit feels like youāre staying somewhere with history.
Staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, happy to give recommendations and assist with bookings. Thereās also a lovely wide veranda on the upper level, which is a great spot to relax in the evening and take in the atmosphere of the city.
Only downside was that the hotel is a bit dated in places, and depending on the room youāre in, you might hear a bit of street noiseābut thatās to be expected in a central location like this.
Overall, Hides Hotel is a great choice for budget-conscious travelers who want clean, central, no-fuss accommodation with character. Iād definitely consider staying again.
DDongfangyaoyangThe hotel boasts a perfect location with comprehensive facilities. From our room's balcony, we enjoyed views of the Ferris wheel and the swimming lagoon, and the breakfast spread was excellent. Evenings were magical, dining with a gentle sea breeze and live music, truly making us feel like we were on a perfect vacation. It's also incredibly close to the Reef Fleet Terminal, just a ten-minute walk away. We'd like to express our sincere gratitude for the thoughtful surprise we received upon check-in; the staff truly went above and beyond, making our Cairns holiday absolutely wonderful. Thank you! I highly recommend this hotel.
