Mystic River Resort

Wow!! True jungle experience!!! So incredibly beautiful, and everywhere you walk it just smells so fresh like flowers and the sounds of nature are so relaxing!!! Rooms are spacious with comfy beds. Rooms have ceiling fans and standing fans to battle having no A/C. Highly recommend hitting the pool before bed for a night swim to cool off!! Gorgeous views from our balcony of the river. We went tubing (very slow moving), kayaking, birding, hiking at the resort. Went across to Sweet Songs to explore. Food is all homemade and they grow their own food. The gardens are huge!!! Service is soooo friendly and helpful. The tour guides are amazing!!!!! Ask for Marlin (he did all of ours!!). We did excursions to Xunantunich and cave tubing at Nohoch Che’en. Awesome! So great having the guides to give you history and explain everything. Definitely recommend Mystic River!!!
Venus Hotel
4/548 Reviews
The location is in the heart of the town, with shops, restaurants and the farmers market all right there. It is bustling and a bit noisy, but that was fine with us. The room was decent, but the mattress was tired, and no shower curtain resulted in an unnecessarily wet bathroom floor. The price and location made up for those negatives, and joining excursions from here was easy and convenient. Good value for the price, as long as you are realistic about charming old hotels.
Cahal Pech Village Resort

Maya Bella Downtown Hotel
4.4/556 Reviews
We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel after reading some not very good reviews. The hotel has the most perfect location. The rooms are spotless, spacious and quiet. The air conditioning works perfectly well. The bathrooms are very clean and obviously recently renovated. All blankets, sheets and towels smelled fresh and were changed daily by request. There was coffee and fresh fruit every morning in the lobby. The staff was wonderful, helpful and friendly. The only downside was the absence of closets, but there was a rack with hangers and several big shelves, so we didn't miss the closet space much. The hotel offered very good service but didn't break the bank. We will definitely recommend this hotel!
Ka'Ana Resort & Spa
4.5/577 Reviews
Our stay at Ka'ana was absolutely magical. We picked Ka'ana for a luxury jungle experience and that's exactly what we got. We stayed there for a full week. Our room was everything we pictured and more! The private backyard and plunge pool was the best part. The housekeeping staff kept our room clean daily, and always replaced our towels without us even asking. The bar and restaurant staff were extremely attentive and friendly. We ate at the restaurant for breakfast every day (except one morning at the San Ignacio market square on Saturday - at the suggestion of the staff!),lunch most days and dinner most nights. The menu had enough variety that we tried different things every day and it didn't get boring. The front desk staff was extremely knowledgeable and very responsive when we had questions or requests. We felt very taken care of all week, and we knew they would help if we needed something. We went on a few excursions through the resort and they were both incredible. Eddy took us to Xunantunich and gave us the most informative and interesting private tour of the area and ruins. Brandon took us to the Mountain Pine Forest Reserve and spent the day showing us Rio Frio caves and pools and Black Rock Falls. Both tours were professional, informative and inspiring. We also had a couples massage while on the property in the spa - and both masseuses were extremely skilled and made our experience comfortable and relaxing. Overall, every member of the staff we met was incredibly helpful, informative and respectful. They all deserve a raise! The hotel grounds were absolutely stunning, with a beautiful organic garden on site, that they use for ingredients in their restaurant - true ”farm to table!” We can't wait to go back.
