Hanamuro Inn AKA Island
4.3/59 Reviews
I just left aka after a two night stay-was supposed to be three nights but s typhoon delayed our trip from Tokyo. You do have to walk 5 minutes from the ferry with your bags but we travel light so not a big deal. The room was small with two beds and that’s about it. There are two communal toilet and two shower rooms. The place is small, I think 6 rooms so this was not a problem. What made the place nice were the friendly staff. Always smiling and trying to help you. The ladies apologize for their English but we had no problem communicating. The food prepared was excellent. You eat on the patio all together at 6:20 pm for dinner and 7:30 for breakfast. The food had a good variety and very fresh with hisae cooking right next to the patio. We took the shuttle they provide to the beach twice and also took the little ferry to Zamami island 300 yen each way. The islands are very quiet and are for people that want a relaxing beach holiday with no night life other than a couple tiny bars on the islands. We loved our time on aka at the hanamura as this is what we were looking for.

The interior is similar to a nearby inn. . . At first I thought it was the same inn, but I was surprised to find out it was a completely different inn. According to what I heard, the owner of lagoon saw the interior of the inn and thought it would be nice, so he introduced me to the same designer. Even so, I don't understand how they can make it look so similar...even the Muji hanger is the same. It also felt a little creepy. However, this was the only accommodation available, so I decided to stay there as a trial. When I checked in, the owner spoke to me in a way that didn't seem like a customer business. Of course it's a tame mouth. I ignored him, but then he said a lot of other things, so I started to get annoyed, and then he started using polite language and changed his attitude. . . I have stayed at many hotels, but I have never seen such rude owners. I don't mind the smallness of the room as mentioned in other reviews, but I couldn't stand how small the bed was. Even as a petite person, I couldn't turn over smoothly, and when I lay down there was a painted wall in front of me...I couldn't fall asleep or feel rested, and I was sleep deprived. . . You can hear the voices of young people chatting in the courtyard and the music they play, giving it a guesthouse-like atmosphere. The atmosphere was different from Yuntaku, and I felt it was noisy. There is only one washing machine, and it cannot be used when the owner is washing the linens for the inn. Even though it's a guesthouse, I couldn't help but wash the linens in the washing machine for guests. Well, that's the feeling. Is it built like a row house and the owner's home is on the same site? I felt that I didn't like this a little. Overall, there was a minimum level of cleanliness. Personally, I don't reuse it 100%, but it may be good for people who want something as clean as possible and as cheap as possible.

This place is the best! I came here for two extended stays, one during Covid (remote work) and one vacation this year. If you want to travel but also to rest/relax, you can’t do better than a cozy Japanese house in a quiet hamlet on beautiful Zamami island. Takako-san will take care of you—she is a talented chef and such a kind person. The rooms are cute and clean. Over dinner you can enjoy meeting other travelers. The walk into town is lovely, with a gorgeous view out over the archipelago. You can rent snorkel equipment, beach tents, sun umbrellas, etc. Don’t hesitate, book this place!!!

The rooms are clean and well equipped with amenities and home appliances. In addition to picking up and dropping off from the port, we were able to pick up and drop off to the beach every day and enjoy it until the last day. there are many repeat customers. , It is due to the detailed correspondence and the personality of the staff. I definitely want to come back when staying at Zamami Island. Thank you very much.
Blue Suites Hanamuro

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights and we truly enjoyed it. Blue Suites Hanamuro is conveniently located close to the Aka Port and facing Maehama beach. We did snorkeling in 4 different beaches on Aka Island and every time saw many turtles. Hizushi beach was my favourite due to clear water, beautiful corals and closeby location from the hotel. I forgot my snorkel home but got to borrow one from the hotel. Food, especially dinners, were amazing and we were stunned by the views where we got to enjoy them. Many thanks to our lovely host Sakiko who took such good care of us! Our trip has continued to other island but our hearts are still in peaceful paradise-like Aka Island and we wished to stay longer.
