So I moved to Morelia a month ago and of course am still exploring around. Decided to head to Pátzcuaro where the island on the lake is near by called Janitzio . Left Saturday morning from Morelia for about an hours drive with beer stop included 😊. Found a hotel in the center for about 150 us a night keeping in mind they go back 300 years so cosmetically not worth it but historically more. Spent the night in the market, and listening to music song dance and live bands, had an amazing time. People are very helpful and not pushy at all. Slept decent but very chilly at night because hotels here do not have a/c or heat. Apartments are the same as the weather is nice all year round. Next day (Sunday) head to the island for another adventure (almost died walking up thousands of stairs) but a good time just the same. Peeing and pooping is 5 pesos but includes 10 sheets or so of paper, use sparingly , haha. Anyways folks hope this helps, highway is safe plenty of traffic and nice shops etc. really nice stuff to buy but carrying it around turned me off, will have to go for a day of shopping as I love hand crafted stuff.

If, like me, you do not care for hip design boutique hotels, and opt more for sincerely generous, warm hospitality, and an extremely comfortable environment, this is the option in Patzcuaro. Of all the bnbs there, this is the best. Most space, comfort, e everything, while feeling you are at a private compound as opposed to a hotel.

We arrived to find there was nobody to help us with our luggage, so we hauled it upstairs ourselves. (To be fair, it's only one flight up). Then we checked into the master suite, which is a strange affair with a spiral staircase leading up to a mostly useless loft area. (The upstairs has nothing but a couch and an old fashioned clawfoot bathtub). The main room downstairs has a king size bed with a comforter that might have come from Goodwill. The bathroom tile was faded and dingy. There was warm water in the shower, but not really hot, and the drain was very slow. (Take a quick shower or you'll probably flood the bathroom!) Bring earplugs, because there is traffic noise from a street just outside the window and noise from the restaurant across the courtyard. On top of that, the internet didn't work and we were given several possible reasons: It doesn't work when it's raining; we've been having trouble with Apple devices; or, the woman who turns it on wasn't available. Lots of excuses, no service. I was, however, able to do some work online in the lobby. Overall, this place is not so sweet.

We arrived fairly late after a long travel day, and only spent one night. Restaurant was already closed. Despite being part of a group staying only a short time, most of us were placed in rooms upstairs, and with no elevator, had to somehow get our suitcases up all the steps. Luckily a male guest took pity on me and came to my rescue. Room was a good size and comfortable but unfortunately, I had no hot water when I tried to shower. Thankfully the heat in the room worked very well and there were extra blankets to warm myself up. Grounds were very pretty and I enjoyed walking around the next morning. I know there was supposed to be a pool, but signage isn't great and I had no luck finding it despite following the one sign with an arrow that said ”Pool”. Breakfast area was very busy, with a long line-up at the omelet station. I would have liked to enjoy sitting in the atrium area, however, it was booked for some big corporate group so we had to sit in the back area. As I was dragging my suitcase down the stairs to checkout after breakfast, another kind soul came to grab my case and bring it down for me. Thank goodness for guests of this hotel! I did report the water issue at checkout, and staff appeared unconcerned, so I have no idea if this is a normal issue or if it got repaired or not.

I already knew the hotel, but I had a bad experience because when making the reservation I selected 2 adults and 2 minors and the page reserved a single room for me, I had to pay an extra payment for an extra place
