Hampton Inn & Suites Abilene I-20

The hotel was but really needs some overhaul to bring it up to speed. Upon entering we learned we had been bumped from a king to two queens.... not a deal breaker but we do enjoy snuggling in a large knd bed. Our reservation clearly stated king but the front desk said that they would have to charge an additional fee to move us to a king. Not worth it for a single night! The room was OK, but nothing outstanding. The bath was less than expected, with missing tiles, moldy caulking around the bathtub, and the cabinets in the bathroom looked pretty beat up... not sure someone hadn't taken a knife to it at some point. But the most disgusting item was the rusty door jamb... It really looked bad, and nothing a couple of coats of paint couldn't help. The beds were comfy and the water pressure was fine, and the breakfast bar was well stocked and actually surprisingly tasty. Would I stay here again? Not likely but it was fine for one night.

My job is 100% travel so I pick up on the small details that really make the difference. No matter what the request big or small they always responded in a positive professional manner. Housekeeping excellent very detailed. Management Jolinn the GM and Martina in my opinion represents the standard why Marriott is the largest in the world. There are other Marriott hotels in the area that are also nice however I will return to this location when I am in town for business because great service always rise to the top. We stayed here without planning for it in advance; our travel plans changed that necessitated an early departure. I was thoroughly impressed by the staff member at the front desk being so helpful, and even more impressed by our room. When you stay at a Motel 6, you shouldn’t be expecting a room on par with what you might find at the Ritz-Carlton. That said, the room we got might as well have been Motel 6’s equivalent of a penthouse suite. It was immaculately spotless, and the 50” TV mounted on the wall lended itself well to the ambiance. It’s clear that the proprietors of this particular Motel 6 care about the little things, and it is easily one of the best Motel 6’s we have had the pleasure of staying at. I am only sorry we did not get the chance to stay longer, or have the opportunity to make use of the kitchenette in our room. The only negative observation I have to note is that the Wi-Fi signal in our part of the property was not strong. We stayed in the furthest corner from the front office, so perhaps that was to be expected. However, for a clean, comfortable room, I will gladly sacrifice reliable Wi-Fi.

Our room was clean and mostly quiet but we could hear the TV from the room next door. Basically appeared to be a new hotel. The pool was stated to be heated but it sure did not feel very warm. Check in was fast and friendly with many choices offered for where to dine. The only knock is the breakfast area is quite small and when it was busy people waiting for their waffles blocked access to the rest of the breakfast wall. If we find ourselves back in Abilene we would stay here again.

Stayed here on a one-night business trip recently, it’s a good location close to Abilene Christian University, with some pretty strong dining options within a couple of miles (or one could drive 10 minutes to downtown and find some other really good options, too). Seems to be an older property with some roof damage from previous weather, and if your in-room fridge does not produce ice (like what happened with me), there are no icemakers except in the kitchen area, so desk staff will have to help you. I was very pleased that they were able to check me in hour early, but I was not pleased that within 30 seconds into my room, a housekeeper barged in without knocking, because she wasn’t finished cleaning my room yet. I didn’t make a big deal of it, but the kitchen trash remained unemptied, and the bathroom counter was a little bit messy. After my first four hours, my freezer still had not produced any ice, so I took the ice tray down to the front desk to request some ice, and the clerk behind the desk asked me in a very condescending way, “well, did you turn the icemaker on?“ I won’t type how I responded, but she very quickly got me ice from kitchen. Still, this is a very good location away from the downtown area, and let’s face it… Some of the other lodging options closer to downtown are pretty sketchy. This place is quiet, you’re within walking distance of a Hooters (which is actually one of the nicer ones I’ve ever been in), and you’re a very short drive from a lot of other food options. I will definitely stay here again.

For the price and proximity to everything it is great. rooms need maintenance and deep clean. Housekeeping was very polite but one front desk clerk with no name tag was rude and short. Ac could work better but it was 100+ everyday
