I just finished two nights at the Hotel Hokkai in Abashiri. The hotel is fairly dated, yet very, very typical of what you find outside Hokkaido's main cities. It is very easy to find, along HWY 39 that runs between Asahikawa and Abashiri. The room size, decor, and tiny unit bath are all typical, something I've seen too many times to count. So, in that sense, I knew what I was getting, and am ok with that. One particular thing bothered me though, and completely changed my view of this hotel. I was running late on Friday night, having driven the 350 km from Sapporo. When I made the reservation I guessed my time of arrival would be at 11 pm. I arrived at 11:55. This is how the conversation went. ”Hotel: X-san. We were wondering what happened to you. We called your house.” ”Me: You called my house? Why?” ”Hotel: Because you were late.” ”Me: What time did you call?” ”Hotel: At 11:15” ”Me: So, you called my house when I was only 15 minutes late?” ”Yes. The last train to Abashiri has already arrived and you weren't here.” ”Me. Why did you think I would take the train?” (NB: I have a Japanese driver's license and drive everywhere. Clearly they think non-Japanese don't drive here.) ”Hotel: didn't answer my question...” ”Me: You shouldn't call my house late at night because I'm running late.” ”Hotel: No one answered at your house.” ”Me: That's because most people are asleep then. It's 11 pm!” After that, he handed me my key and I went up to my room, not happy. Honestly, I lost all respect for the hotel at that point. I've been to 80+ countries and thousands of hotels and never has one called my house when I was late, let alone 15 minutes late. As a result, I won't be staying at this hotel again. I'd rather sleep in my car.

I don't think the room will change from other Toyoko Inns. If breakfast is included and it costs about 6000 yen, it is a reasonable price. Be careful as you need to bring your room clothes and amenities from the lobby. The number of breakfast items is not abundant, but you can eat in the room with basic lunch box + other ingredients (taste nori, sausage, yakisoba, etc.). You can also eat in the dining room, but because you concentrate. There is only one elevator, so you will have to wait quite a while.

As the title suggests, it is a guesthouse full of hospitality. I made a reservation just before, but it was really nice at this place! There are places in the guesthouse where employees and guests are at a reasonable distance, but in Imodango Village, both the owner and staff carefully look at the customer's situation and talk to them appropriately, so it is more comfortable than the facilities. I felt the goodness of. From the owner, I was able to hear a lot about Abashiri and travel stories, and I had a fulfilling time. At the time of parting, he came out of the front door and waved his hand. It's not difficult, but there aren't many places where you can see off. In that sense as well, it was a guesthouse that I was really glad to come to. The next time I come to Abashiri, I will definitely visit!

I had a very good experience while staying here. The hotel employees are accommodating, friendly, and efficient. I was in a room that faced the water and the view was beautiful. The size of the room was generous with a good use of space. I especially liked the table and built in seating area. The breakfast buffet had many options. The Onsen was nice, seemingly clean. I recommend renting a bicycle and checking out the area.

We who came to stay from Honshu 4 When we asked if we could only eat together with our family living in the area, or even add a day trip bath, despite the busy season (the day was full) It was helpful to be kindly and smoothly to respond to the addition and plan change without waiting. The originality of the northern ancient culture theme was explained while carrying luggage, and there was a pleasure not only to stay. In the place where I could meet Ezoris, I could see 3 animals up close even through the glass. The melon juice and hass cup juice at the free drink corner were very delicious. In the room, there was only drinking water in the glass pot in the refrigerator, but there was water in the free drink corner, so it was quite good. 4 The type of guest room where people can stay is large with a dressing table sideways, and women 4 can make it at the same time. There are multiple sinks, which is helpful. The comforter is feather, light and soft, and I could sleep comfortably. The buffet restaurant has a wide variety of dishes using plenty of local ingredients, especially potato dishes such as potato butter and meat potatoes, and sweet shrimp and sail sashimi. The vegetable pizza that I had to put my favorite ingredients on the dough and bake took a little time, but it was baked in a pizza pot and it was delicious. Breakfast milk 3 It was fun and delicious compared to drinking in the production area. There is also soft serve ice cream in the morning and evening. Miso soup is a style of taking the ingredients from the buffet and boiling them a little in a pot of soup on the table. I'm at a loss because there are many kinds of ingredients. I was worried about the rugged rock surface in the open-air bath. The shop was compact but convenient with good items. Some foreign-affiliated luxury hotels in central Tokyo and Okinawa have obviously lost their service quality due to labor shortages before and after Corona, but they are not worth the price. I didn't feel that there was enough staff here, and I thought ”I'm glad I came” to the simple and warm customer service.

This trip has set up a few half-packages (early and late) hot spring hotels. I have read the comments before saying that this dinner is good. As a result, I still have to be moved by the sincerity of the hotel (ಥ_ಥ), let me not even mention this kind of food. Can be eaten, not to mention the quality of sea urchins and crab legs is quite good, said Jin Jiyu gave two per person, too sincere. In comparison, the dinner at the hot spring hotel where I lived was a cloud, so it was not important to pick up the car late and the pool was too small. After the check-out, the hotel will take us to pick up the pick-up on request, give a 20-minute view, and then transfer to JR station. The fullness of the small flowers can be taken a lot, and there is a sign at the door of the film. Once again praise the hotel. Need to remind everyone that the hotel pick-up must be confirmed on the same day, I used to contact the station through Ctrip, the result is that the bus did not appear, call again, 15 minutes later, pick up the site in front of the jr station open space. The room in the hotel itself is also good to see the scenery.

The buffet at this hotel is the most exquisite, tasteful and seafood-rich of the ones I have ever eaten. Most people who come to this high-class hotel are looking forward to tasting the seafood that has just been brought from the Sea of Okhotsk. Therefore, shrimps and shellfish have more sashimi and are very fresh. Other mixed vegetables, tempura, fresh soup noodles, ice cream, etc. are also exquisitely delicious. However, there is not much cooking here, and people who can't eat raw, cool dishes may be worthless to stay here. In addition, this is a high-class hotel that is not tall but tastes good. For example, the room is not big, but the tatami is a small collapse in front of the window. There is a telescope, which is specially used to sit or lie down and watch birds. In the morning when the tide ebbs, the herons are looking for food at the bottom of the lake. It is still very happy to sit on the tatami and see the birds finally catch the fish. For example, there is a bookshelf in the lobby, with a variety of picture books, poems and books about the Okhotsk Sea (Japanese), magazines, you can bring back to the front desk to see. The hotel is completely surrounded by nature. There are no so-called tourist attractions around. There are very few people. Apart from watching nature, fishing, cycling, hot springs, playing table tennis and billiards at the hotel, there is nothing else to do. If you are lucky, you can meet Hokkaido red foxes, eagle and other wild animals while walking in the nearby Nature Centre. There is a small department selling local products. The nearest convenience store is about 7 kilometers away from the commissary and there is very little public transportation. If you don't drive, buy something you need and come over. The hotel staff's service was excellent, with 4 points because the hotel seemed to be less suitable for foreign tourists. I use Japanese to communicate, so the problem is not big, but if it is in English communication, various introductions may be omitted. The Chinese marked on the coffee machine is also automatically translated, very strange.

GGuest User 2023.06.30
The A-Building twin was 26 ㎡ and was spacious and clean, and the bed was about a semi-double width and had a wide bus. The hot springs are hot and a little oily and lukewarm, and there are many types such as sauna, cold bath, bubble bath, and sleeping bath, but there is no open-air bath. My hair was squeaking because it was body soap and conditioner in shampoo. There are no skin care supplies or cleansing in the changing room, so you need to bring it with you. Even though it was Saturday as an intermediate point for sightseeing in Abashiri and Shiretoko, I stayed cheaply without meals and the cospa was the best.

GGuest UserMy wife finds out that I'm planning a drift ice trip with 4 old men who are drinking and playing mahjong. and was criticized. I had no choice but to go out with my wife for a preliminary inspection before that, in order to get in a good mood and have him sent on the trip. Arrive at Memanbetsu Airport and take the airport shuttle bus directly to the drift ice tourist boat departure point at the roadside station Abashiri Ryuhyo Highway. Unfortunately, I had to wait for the 15:30 flight right after the 14:00 departure. Luckily, there was drift ice this afternoon, and I was able to enjoy the fantastic scenery and the power of crushed ice. Unfortunately, this hotel does not have a pick-up service, so you have to drive your own car or take a taxi. There is a taxi stand at the sightseeing boat dock, but it is not always on standby. When I asked how to call the tourist information center in the hotel, they called me on the phone. Arrived in a little over 10 minutes after departure. I got the impression that the building was made by adding old storehouses and mountain huts. In the corridors leading to the lobby and guest rooms, there are a large number of various handicrafts and handicrafts on display. Evaluation of these will depend on each person's taste. However, old photographs of Ainu people were displayed, which was interesting. The room is a twin bed room in a wooden room with the same size, facilities and equipment as a city hotel. There is no bathroom in the room, only a washbasin and a shower room. However, in the ba*****t there is a large hot spring bath with a cypress bath, an open-air bath, and two private baths. It seems that this hot spring is not free-flowing. The reason I chose this place to stay is because my wife doesn't like the so-called ryokan cuisine and izakaya cuisine, so they serve light French dinner. As a result, this was the correct answer. Marinated flounder salad, scallop mousse with tomato flavored risotto, Abashiri wagyu rump steak, all of which are of good restaurant quality. Draft beer, white wine by the glass, and red by the bottle of German wine. The volume is never light and is sufficient. My wife is satisfied with these. Breakfast is Japanese, with Saikyo-yaki atka mackerel from Rausu, pork, stir-fried wood ear*, scallops in tomato soup, and dipping sauce. As someone from Kansai, I felt it was a little salty, but I guess it's a standard seasoning in Hokkaido. During breakfast, we had a good time with the Ezo squirrels who came by the window. The price is a little high, but if you think about the food, you can be satisfied.

GGuest UserI just finished two nights at the Hotel Hokkai in Abashiri. The hotel is fairly dated, yet very, very typical of what you find outside Hokkaido's main cities.
