we where impressed by the overall appearance, though parking would be tricky if a big car. lucky it was a small car and able to drive down small opening to the small parking at the back. The room was lovely but would of been helpful to know that breakfast was from 8-10am and we needed to leave earlier, offer of putting out some cereal was helpful but had been looking forward to the cooked breakfast.
Over all we enjoyed our stay and plan to return next year .

Our twin room was spacious and nicely decorated. Plenty of options for dining in and our beef stroganoff was wonderfully tender. Only downsides were the narrow staircase to the top floor (no lift available), and the very narrow driveway to the car park at the back of the property.

We went for my graduation dinner. There had been a mistake with their books and our booking wasn’t there but that didn’t matter to them. They took us into a private dining room and we got excellent private service from the manager Tony. He was so accommodating, chatty and gave top of the range customer service! Him and his staff could not have done a better job. Thank you so much Tony and staff for making my graduation dinner so special. You guys rock 🤩

There should be a 6th star for the excellent staff. Wonderful historic restaurant, bar and hotel in a fine area of the Granite City. Great value, fabulous quiet room with very effective black out curtains for the best nights sleep. A

Our room was comfortable and quiet . The busy bar and restaurant served nice food. I think it would be really important to book at the weekend. The breakfast selection was good and vegetarian and vegan friendly . We should have got the man who served us name as he was great. The only negative was the awkward car park although it cannot be helped as the building is old so the driveway very narrow. It's acceptable with care. All in all a good choice and good value for money.
