Fabulous little hotel in Aberystwyth. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was delightful, with a view of the sea from the oval window. Breakfast, continental style, could be ordered the night before then brought to your room in the morning. Great choice too. Nice bar downstairs, and you're seconds away from the promenade. What's not to like?!

We had to be in Aberystwyth for a weekend and had booked the Castle Hotel. I believe it was room 6 we were staying in . A nice big room, with a decent shower and a double bed of a good size. It slept very well. Th room was clean and a tea/coffee 'dish' were present. The room offered a nice high view. We will surely not hesitate to book again, if needing to be around. Thank you very much !

Really disappointed. The room has frosted out windows and there is a cellar cooler or something just outside that annoyingly hums on and off all night. You can hear it with the windows closed so absolutely no chance of having the window open. I would much rather have had a word with someone to ask to be moved to a different room, but at 8.30 am everything downstairs locked and the phone number just tells me to ring later as messages are full. This was supposed to be a big treat for us, and I'm really sad and annoyed. Would definitely not recommend anyone to stay here. Pub seems really nice but it's not cheap, so the least you could expect is some way of contacting someone when a problem arises...oh an a night's sleep.

We stayed here with our 6 month old, having spent a night in the Queensbridge Hotel and the Marine Hotel. The standard of the room was far superior to the previous hotels. Spacious, clean and well equipped. It's not really a hotel but more of a pub with rooms upstairs but was great. We will use it again as a base for exploring. Parking can be a bit tricky so in parked the harbour area, which is nearby and has pay and display. Perfect and not far from the hotel.

Fabulous and friendly staff. We stayed in room 2. It was lovely and comfy and lovely and clean. However, the electric at times was rather sporadic- on for a few mins and then off and then on and off and repeat, a little disconcerting when in the bathroom and the lights go off and it made it impossible to watch television. The location is fabulous, right by South Beach and the Marina and Aberyswyth is beautiful in any weather.

This is a pub with rooms. When you first go into the pub it is a little disappointing, as we were expecting a hotel but, to be honest, the rooms are clean, functional spacious and well kept. The staff are more than kind and friendly and the rooms do have everything you need for a good nights sleep. Others have mentioned noise from the bar, we didn’t hear a peep and slept well. The bed wasn’t super luxury but the linen was good and the duvet very comfortable. Everything was clean with tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast is brought to your room, but nowhere to dine so we have that a miss and went to “Sophies” in the town which was Well worth the trip! It’s a nice enough place, just be aware it’s over a pub rather than a hotel and manage your expectations - we arrived late so not sure if they do food but local takeaways were open. Staff were extremely helpful, kind and friendly!

This pub and rooms is mis-sold on *********. This is not a hotel by any means so very disappointed as I was really in need of a luxury hotel experience night away. For £167 (supposedly the deluxe room!!) I would expect a hotel with a level of luxury not a pub with rooms upstairs, no lounge, reception, or breakfast. The place was all locked up when we arrived and just a scruffy piece of paper stuck to the window to call a number. We did, several times, but no answer. The barmaid was very helpful and friendly when we got in and the rooms ‘looked’ nice. The rooms were through a door in the wall between the toilets and the pub. Whenever this was opened or the outside door, which it was regularly until gone 3am, the door to our room banged hard. This was a bit scary at first as I thought someone was trying our door handle. The barmaid informed us breakfast was extra and would be in the room. I’m not sure where’s you’d eat that as there is only one chair. I didnt even check as I assumed breakfast came with a high cost room. Music ( heavy bass) was continuous from the bar downstairs and continued until 2.50am when doors were banging a lot downstairs as people were leaving, as was our bedroom door. So no sleep until gone 4am and no one to call to complain. The room was two single beds pushed together with the hardest mattress ever and lights that should have been dimable but didn’t work so it was very bright if you put any lights on. It has a dressing table and mirror but if you sat down you could only see the top of your head, it’s so badly planned out. The tv has a very bright flashing light on it and is situated nearly on the ceiling so you have to drag a chair over and climb up to switch it off at the back when you want to sleep. Not that it mattered as the tv had constantly interrupted reception. The shower door doesn’t work and falls off if you touch it. The room had great potential and glad we were at the top of the building or the music would have been even louder, a very disappointing sleepless stay. I can’t imagine the owners have ever stayed her to realise what it is like. Full refund being requested if I knew this as a noisy pub with rooms upstairs I would Not have booked it. A night away ruined.

This is not a Hotel! It’s a pub with rooms!! Turned up at 2:30pm to check-in but the door was locked with a contact number. No answer so I left a message which was never returned. We went off for a look around and returned about 4 when we were pleasantly greeted by the receptionist/barmaid. No problem there. Room appeared nice, we had room 6 on the 2nd floor which was quite expensive at £170 for the night. So we went out for a meal and returned quite early (around 9:30). We could hear people in the bar (pub) but went up to our room to settle in for an early night. This was when the problems started. Firstly the tv is located high up the wall and was switched off at the plug. The reason for this became evident later! Having moved a stool over to switch the tv on we found that every channel had interference and was therefore unwatchable. After much cursing and wrestling with the remote we gave up, switched off and decided to sleep. It was at this point we realised the Standby light was flashing and the reason for the tv being switched off at the mains. Off to sleep. The beds very hard but the sheets and duvet were nice. About two hours in to our sleep we were awoken to a full on party going on downstairs. With the aid of pillows I managed to get some sleep but my partner informed me the music stopped at 2:53am as she was awake for all of it. I would have gone down to complain but as I said earlier this was a pub NOT a hotel as advertised and the staff was the barmaid. I didn’t fancy going down to complain in my pyjamas. On to other issues, the shower door fell off twice (it’s runners need greasing). The mirror is too high to do your makeup in. My partners 5ft 8 so it’s not because she’s short. Breakfast was supposed to be included. It wasn’t and it’s served in your room. Where you’re supposed to eat it I don’t know as there isn’t a table or chairs. Non dimmable bulbs on a dimmer meant that you had to have them on flat out or they would flicker.

Stayed for 1 night, room number 7. The guys in the pub/reception were the nicest and kindest you could meet. Very helpful and polite. The room was good size and clean, had a big comfortable bed. It had some strange smell, I’m not even sure how to describe it, kind of like rubber….quite strong. The tv was constantly having a bad signal that it was impossible to watch. If those problems would be sorted we would definitely come back.
