This was a really disappointing experience. We have stayed in several hotels in India (heritage hotels, cottages, chains like this one) and in many 4 and 5 star hotels around the world, and this place was near the bottom of both lists unfortunately. The rooms themselves are okay and some of the staff are very friendly, but a number of things conspire to make the stay unpleasant. Firstly the hotel is noisy. The soundproofing on the windows is poor so you can hear the horns from the main road in front of the hotel. But this is nothing compared to the fact the hotel hosts events with pumping bass that shakes the room (we were on the 3rd floor). This stops at 11:30 but isn’t helpful when you want to be up before 6am for sunrise sightseeing! Secondly, the pestering for reviews is relentless. This is common in India but on entering the restaurant here we were offered a QR code for Tripadvisor before we were offered a drink! It was non-stop - much more than we have had anywhere else. Thirdly, the services from the hotel are expensive and not super reliable. We booked a car to the Taj through the hotel and do not recommend it - we ended up getting an Uber back and writing off the money. A real shame as we were hoping for a bit of an oasis of calm to offset the full-on sight-seeing and Agra experience, but this did not fit the bill at all. I am sure there are much better options.
