Cabogata Beach Hotel

Stayed here for 2 nights (should have been 4 but after the first night decided to return home early yesterday). Food was very disappointed in the both the buffet restaurant and the pool bar/tapas bar. A lot of the food in the buffet restaurant was cold, both in the evening and at breakfast. Very little choice for children. Very expensive (190 euros for 3 adults and 1 child). We ate in the Tapas bar in the second evening. Service okay and we got by with our limited Spanish! We were still waiting for our son’s food after we had finished eating. When it finally arrived ,he ordered a rack of ribs which consisted of 4 ribs and some chips. Not a vegetable or salad in sight (although think I was more bothered by that than him!) Live entertainment outside both evenings but for those with young children, it goes on until 11.30 so may not be ideal. It is in a very Spanish area with very little to do or visit outside of the hotel. Some cafes which are very well served by the Spanish locals. Beach location is great and you can walk along the beachfront for quite a way. Rooms are lovely and spacious although air conditioning didn’t work in the children’s room. My daughter left her shorts around the pool area although when we asked on departure they hadn’t been handed in. However, whilst we were waiting to depart at the airport we had a phone call from the hotel to say they had found them and would bring them to the airport. We were grateful to them for this.

We didn’t stay here but the reception staff were absolutely lovely and saved our day. We had been waiting for an hour at a taxi rank in the heat with my 5 year old and the man at reception very kindly called us a cab so we could return to our resort. Foyer looked spotless and everyone was super friendly. Cannot thank them enough.
Barceló Cabo de Gata

The hotel itself is amazing but: - Shower door did not close properly and therefore we got ”floods” everyday in the toilet. - Mosquitos: I do understand that we are in a ”wild” enviroment but it was amazing every time we open the curtain of the terrace how were falling many mosquitos. During the night, going to the toilet was an expirience as well. Too many mosquitos...they should try to do something with this. - Meals: they do not include beverage, its normal until you are charged 3'5€ for an opened bottle of water when they should serve or at least give the option to have it for free since the law says that. - Checkin: the girl of the counter just told us, ”hey scan this QR code and everything is explained”, why shall I download an app of the hotel? is it so hard to explain just in few second all the activities of the hotel? - Breakfast: Bakery quality worse than any other hotel I tried... Speaking about amenities hotel is perfect, big pools, nice decoration, buffet was ok and it has direct access to the beach. Its a pity that the service is not at Barcelo level standards.
Hotel Cabogata Jardín

After a pretty hectic couple of months, I decided to book a solo trip to Spain and after some searching, this hotel was the best price. However, I now understand why the hotel was such a low cost and TUI listing the hotel as 4* is laughable. Some aspects of the hotel are lovely (my room was nice and modern and the pool area is really nice) but everything else is bang average. The staff’s downright unpleasantness and hostility to English people is also something that I need to mention. During this week stay I have lost count of the amount of times that I have been completely blanked by members of staff when trying to order food and drink to a point where I’ve had to get up from my table and walk over to the bar area so they physically cannot ignore me. Spanish people, however, are served at their tables and quite clearly treated a lot better. I have worked in customer service roles my whole working life, and know for a fact that it is not difficult to be nice to people - Particularly people like me who are clearly travelling on their own. Another absolutely mental thing that just happened was that a short time before me typing this, I returned to my sun bed after popping to the toilet (I was gone for a max of ten mins.) on my sun bed was a note warning me not to leave my belongings or else the staff have a right to remove them if they are getting in the way of other guests??? Literally all of the beds around me bar one are completely empty!! I have been on a sun bed in the same area all week so the staff know that I get here early and stay here all day, so to receive this note is frankly quite nasty and underhanded. What would you like me to do, wee in the pool??? I have attached photos to this review showing the note as well as the empty beds around me. Overall, weather has been fab and it’s been lovely to have a relaxing break away. I wish, however, that I’d booked the Barcelo next door instead. Do better Cabogata Jardin.
