Arrochar Hotels with Airport pickup service

I would imagine that OAP coach parties love this hotel, but other guests may not have the same feelings. he hotel is in a superb location at the head of Loch Long, with rooms at the front having views of the ”Arrochar Alps”. It's also conveniently placed for Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. That's probably the best things about the hotel. The rest is mostly mundane or worse. The hotel is a bit of a 1980's time warp in places, our room was cramped with an oversized desk and chair taking up most of the available space. Dinner is a standard menu - 3 choices for each course, some good and some not so good. Lounge bar looks like it's had a recent facelift, but the bar manager did not seem at all concerned that the lager coming out of the pump warm. Breakfast was a distinctly average buffet. Staff attitude varied from very good to uninvolved. Overall i think it's trading on its location.

This hotel appears to promise many things that it really cannot deliver on. Firstly, the parking - the Car park is tiny and works on a first come first serve basis. Nearest place to park is down the road and costs £1.50 ph. Insane considering how much they charge for the rooms here. Secondly- the rooms are really small. Ours was a bit disappointing l, the key was unavailable when we got here (we suspect the room was still being turned over even though it was 8pm) the sheet wasn't on properly and the duvet cover was also not fitted properly. Not a huge issue. On the plus side- the bed was really comfy. The towels are small and few and far between, the pillows are not great. Otherwise not terrible. Again- comfy bed. Reasonably good night's sleep. Thirdly- we booked a dinner in the restaurant, staff were lovely. However, the service was not great. We ordered a starter each of black pudding croquettes and a main each of steak and veg pie with chips and veg. Initially, we were brought out 1 starter and 1 main. The server apologised, left the starter on the edge of the table and walked off with the main. The croquettes were lovely. Flavours were delicious, sadly, cold. But otherwise lovely. Later they brought out a 2nd starter. Hubby and I shared both starters so it wasn't all bad. Main was terrible. Steak pieces in my pie were mostly tubes, connective tissues and gristly bits. My veg was mouldy. Chips were nice though All in all, I really would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The views are pretty. The staff a friendly and there's a lovely chippy across the road. Otherwise, don't bother.

It is a medieval castle-style hotel with a sense of age. There is a kind white-haired British old man sitting in front of the service desk, working seriously. It feels like he has returned to decades ago, which is very artistic. In front of the hotel is Loch Lomond, with beautiful scenery.

Oh Forest Hills I am so disappointed. Some of my first ever memories are of having fun here as a child. Which is why I was so looking forward to staying here and using the pool facilities etc. Unfortunately we didn’t get far. The grounds of the resort are, as so many users have mentioned, just beautiful. I’ve had lunch in the lounge area a few times and it’s been lovely, staff have been friendly and nice food with outstanding views. Moving on to our recent booking. I emailed about a week in advance to ask about booking the restaurant as the website didn’t let me and also to confirm we had a cot for our baby. Nobody ever got back to me. Why not? I received a telephone call after 9.30 pm one night later on in the week preceding our stay. No message was left and no attempt to phone again. I only figured out it was the hotel as the location showed on my phone as “Callendar”. So the next day I phoned back and was informed unapologetically that “we’ve been having issues with our website recently”. I asked to confirm that we had a cot and was told with a slight attitude “yes we saw the age of the child in your booking”. Upon arriving at the room we found out there was no mattress in the cot. We checked this with the housekeeping staff who informed us that the hotel didn’t provide mattresses for cots. This wasn’t something we were expecting as we have stayed in 2 hotels since having our son and both provided mattresses without question. If it’s the hotel’s policy not to provide mattresses that’s fine, but why didn’t anyone confirm this either by replying to my email or during that telephone call when I asked if there would be a cot? A young man from housekeeping delivered the happy news that there would be no mattress, again with an attitude, please train him he doesn’t have a clue what he’s on about. Your staff just don’t seem to care. I did however receive a plethora of emails beforehand trying to get me to upgrade which just clogged up my inbox so thanks. The other issue was that the lift wasn’t working. From the reviews I’ve read it looks as though this may have been out of order since some time in March? What on earth are you doing not getting that fixed? We had to haul the pushchair up some stairs for our very brief visit! Not a member of staff in sight aside from the disinterested plainclothes housekeeping staff, who were too busy swearing to each other about their personal lives to even acknowledge our presence (it’s really not a good look, please sort it out). The lady at receptionist was civil but not that friendly and didn’t look up at us until she was ready when we were trying to check in (which was a bad first impression). So when my husband went to ask for a refund (which you provided without argument , thank you) the same person ignored him in the queue and he could see quite clearly that she was on WhatsApp lol. Come on now. Would you be happy with this if that was you trying to get your money back? To top it off the manager was

The room is big enough, but even in summer, the house is cold, but this is a relationship in Scotland, the hotel is not very soundproof, the people upstairs can hear it, the surrounding environment is very good, the food is their own restaurant, it is best to make an appointment, otherwise you have to wait

It was supposed to be a highlight of Scottish dining. We were seated about a metre away from the bar and it was like the M6; noisy and crowded. The meals were tolerable. I couldn’t say they were great but they were ok….which is pretty much what they aspired to. We had an entree of chicken and pistachio terrine. It was quite delicious but came with 2 small slices of garlic bruschetta.My husband had the beef and had to ask for English mustard. He was presented with pretty much half the bottle. I had the lamb shoulder which was ‘slow cooked’ which seemed to be an hour because it was grissley and the skin fat undercooked. We finished with dessert, a tepid ‘hot choclate tart’ and a rhubarb crumble (with whisky anglaise ), which had no oats. Afterall we are in iconic Scotland. Service was excellent; polite and attentive staff. It was a pity the Hotel itself didn’t deliver to the same standard; attention to detail and a high standard of food.
