Afternoon Tea Having visited last year and had a wonderful afternoon tea using a Wowcher voucher we decided to take advantage of this years Wowcher offer of a Prosecco afternoon tea at the hotel Well what a disappointment after last years amazing tea The sandwiches where probably the only full sized offering on the stand - the scones ( 2 savoury with no butter offered and 2 plain with jam and cream) where one bite size literally and the cakes where also one bite sized I had actually expected a second stand to arrive with duplicate offerings when I had seen the first stand as there was really only just enough for one person! The Prosecco saved the afternoon but even the surroundings of a plain table with no table cloth and being put in a dark corner of the back room didn’t help with the experience I appreciate it was a half price deal but after last year ( which was also a half price deal ) it was extremely poor and if reflective of there current offering then I would avoid even at half price!

I came with a couple of friends for afternoon tea. Wanted to return as the afternoon tea we had had a couple of years back was delicious. We unfortunately left very disappointed. The service and food was lovely but the afternoon tea was not to the standard from our previous visit with serious cutbacks. There were some finger sandwiches, a tiny fruit scone with a small pot of jam and cream and a tiny cheese and chive scone each. We each had a small quiche. The three desserts were also miniscule, being a two bite sized cheesecake and Bakewell tart and a slightly larger chocolate brownie. Everything was delicious but even with a wowcher voucher it certainly did not justify the amount paid.. Don't think we will be coming back unfortunately.

We stopped off with our horses after a long ride on a very hot sunny day, and what an oasis we found. We were welcomed into the garden and made to feel very welcome which was so nice as our ponies have very large feet and were delighted to start eating your immaculate lawn! Thankfully we didn’t cause any noticeable damage. The beer was the coldest most refreshing beer ever. The ponies were treated to plate of carrots which was also very much appreciated. Thank you for spoiling us we will be back.

If you’re looking for excellent food and service then you will not find better! Good value for money and the staff can’t do enough for you !They go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble . I highly recommend their home made pies !!!

Exceptional service and food! Arrived to a lovely welcome from the staff to have pre dinner drinks before our lunch. We had a lovely table jn the terrace up by the doors to the beautiful garden. We had a wonderful Sunday roast, cauliflower cheese was amazing. Staff were very attentive, checking we was happy. Brûlée and cheesecake were homemade so nice to go out to a lovely setting,nice staff and homemade food. Bar was very well stocked too. We will be back.

Rooms are very light, huge windows, furnished traditionally as befits an old house. Happy with room facilities but more hangers, coat hooks and towel rail would be useful. Windows overlook a delightful village & spacious garden. Quirky building with uneven floors and steps up and down in doorways on first floor. Despite strong bannister in the stairwell, it proved difficult but not impossible for elderly family member. Prior to arrival we asked for him to have a walk in shower, this was accommodated without problem. We found all staff to be welcoming, professional and friendly yet not intrusive. My slight *******, water pressure very low so difficult to wash long hair and the pillows too puffy for my personal preference. A small housekeeping issue was dealt with immediately that I mentioned it. The restaurant was well laid out with very comfortable dining chairs and the food was fantastic on the short but well balanced menu. Ingredients were of the highest quality both for breakfast and evening meals, cooked to perfection and presented as if entering a competition. We had three different chefs during our stay and they were all wonderful. I would however single out the chef who cooked my lamb on the first night. This talented lady, barely out of her teen years, was exceptional for one so young. The balance of flavours, texture and colours on the plates was extraordinary. She has an artistic eye for presentation, her culinary skills faultless and the high point of our stay.

Lovely facility. Great breakfast. Nice to have small pub in facility in case you'd like to stop and smell the roses. Lovely grounds well kept

Very friendly hotel to stay. The age of the building leads to challenges re maintenance and repairs. Staff very efficient. Food OK. Hotel needs some’TLC’
