I had high hopes for our stay at Relais Villa Carola, which was supposed to be the highlight of our year. My partner and I were so excited for this stay. Sadly, due to an unexpected personal emergency, we had to cancel our trip. We reached out to the hotel with four days’ notice, explaining our situation and hoping for some understanding. Unfortunately, we were met with zero flexibility. The hotel refused to offer any kind of refund or even a credit for a future stay. Losing $5,000 like this has added so much stress to an already difficult time. We were really just hoping for a little compassion, but it feels like they only care about their bottom line. It’s incredibly disappointing that a place with such a good reputation could be so unsympathetic. If you’re considering staying here, just be aware that if anything unexpected happens, you’re on your own. I expected much better treatment from a hotel like this.
