Athens City Hotel Reviews

This is a very basic hotel where you can just sleep and shower and nothing else. It’s about 4km from syntagma square and centre. We didn’t use public transport and decided to walk around and use Uber which is quite reasonable. Athens as a city is one of the worse places I’ve visited. Nothing to see except the Acropolis. Will definitely not visit again.

The location is okay, about 20ish minutes from city center. But the hotel/rooms seem to be old with very tiny shower room, it was a bit uncomfortable to use.

It is very convenient to go to the surrounding attractions in the city center, and the room facilities are a little elegant. I like it very much.

The room was large and comfortable. The shower cubicle is large enough for a ten year old, or a VERY anorexic ramp model. No normal person can have any hope of washing properly in it. Breakfast was pathetic - no butter, only margarine, and the coffee was weaker than my granny. Small selection of food compared to all the other hotels we stayed in during our trip, including the 1- and 2-star hotels we visited. No hot food except for some boiled eggs. The neighbourhood seems a little sketchy. By far the worst hotel we stayed in during our three week trip across Greece, well below the standard of all the other hotels.

We stayed here for two nights and the reception staff were amazing from start to finish. They were very helpful my mother brought her mobility scooter and they allowed us to keep it near reception they also helped her figure out how to charge it. They also helped with information about thr local area if they didnt know they would find out for us. The cleaning staff were also very friendly. Breakfast was a basic continental but it was enough to start the day. Hotel is situated only 30 min walk from the archaeological museum. The rooms are quite basic but serviceable. We were disappointed that there was a bath but it didn't seem to work and the shower was a bit rubbish. We didn't sit on the balcony it wasn't very attractive but then we weren't there long. Beds were comfortable which is the main thing. It's a nice basic hotel in the heart of Athens.

If you are a person of color, DO NOT STAY HERE!! I visited last year and when I went downstairs for breakfast, I was verbally attacked by one of the front desk men (He had dark hair, not to be confused with the other front desk man with blonde hair because he was nice). I was the only African-American there and I'm the only one that received this treatment from him. He yelled at me asking what am I doing here, infront of a dining room full of guests and he demanded that I tell him my room number immediately, forcing me to tell a room full of strangers my room number which is a security risk. I did not get combative with him at all, and he followed me to the elevator to watch me go upstairs to make sure I wasn't lying.

Not in a very good location, room clean , water hot, breakfast forget it, no safe. would not use again or recommend . Can get local bus 5 or 11 to centre daily ticket 4.10 euros from kiosk . this hotel was booked by travel agent no choice given but suggest they go visit

This hotel is a slight step above a hostel. Not a very desirable neighborhood. No facilities. Shower rails hanging off walls or shower door missing. Breakfast wow this is what it is called. Supermarket 50yds down has takeaway section with good coffee so go there. One good thing was bed was comfortable and clean. This hotel and I use the word loosely is in urgent need of full refurb. Certainly wouldn’t recommend to any traveler.

Decent room and breakfast. Very kind staff. Big plus with the bus stop (3, 5 and 11) right next to the hotel and a café to drink a really good coffee because the breakfast one is not really coffee!

The Hotel is clean, the staff friendly, there is good bedding, the perfect value for money, as already specified in the other reviews the only downside is it is a 20 minute walk from the metro and when it is hot they seem long these minutes especially on the way back because it goes uphill, the breakfast is mediocre.

Very clean hotel, all the staff very kind and friendly. Negative of the hotel is that the breakfast is very scarce and of poor quality, I only went down the first day to have breakfast on the rest alone with my husband. The neighborhood is quiet, there are bars on the same street with good food. Trolley buses 5 and 11 leave you at the door of the hotel.

The location was one of the main negatives in this particular hotel... You didn't see a Greek in the area.. like a ghetto full of foreigners. rooms that are not on the street side, it is clean and the sheets and towels are changed every day.. it has good wifi, hot water, elevator and tv.. it offers a basic breakfast and the staff at the reception are willing and kind..

Only the bed and the staff was good. Hotel is noisy, we were woken up in the middle of the night by other guests. It is also faded glory. Everything is old and a bit dirty. The shower head could no longer be hung and the toilet seat came loose. Also, there was no shower curtain. We had a balcony, but a view of a wall and a hole down (with nothing). At night I was cold, staff did bring a blanket. They also did something about the noise of the other guests. There was also no free parking, only on the street or in a parking garage for 8 euros per day.
