โI was extremely disappointed with the staff at the Hampton Inn in Austin, Oakhill. The staff were rude, argumentative, and unprofessional, lacked any sense of candor, and genuinely seemed like something you would see in a bad movie. For context, my wife traveled to Austin on a business trip, and I was recommended by a colleague that she should stay at this hotel. I couldn't go because I was in Pennsylvania, visiting my mother in the ICU unit at Passavant hospital. I told the representative I wouldn't be there because my mom was being taken off life support, and it would only be my wife checking in. I mentioned this to the worker on the phone because I wanted to know if my wife could use my military discount if I booked the hotel for her and sent them a copy of my military id via email, as they requested. โThere After her check-in, I received a call from the front desk, stating that they could no longer give us the military rate because she didn't present the ID. I was confused by this because they asked me to send a copy via email, which they now had on file, but the representative was unwilling to listen. I asked to speak with the manager and she was even more uncooperative and downright disrespectful. I continually asked if I could explain myself, and let them know they have my ID on file, but the woman threw a tantrum and said my wife has 30 minutes to leave their hotel and we just paid for 5 days. It was easily the worst hotel experience I've had in 42 years, and I wouldn't recommend anyone stay there. I have a long list of colleagues that come to Austin and work in this area, and it's a shame for military families to be treated with such disregard. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, as the poor level of professionalism and candor from the staff was unacceptable. โThere are many other hotel options in the area, and I would suggest looking elsewhere for a more enjoyable and customer-focused stay.โ

It is a hotel with a good cp value. There is a kitchen in the room, and the pots and pans are quite complete. There is also breakfast, which can be taken back to the room and eaten by business people. It is very convenient for families with children to live in; It is very comfortable to have a swimming pool. If you are looking for just a bed to sleep one or cook, this place provides that. The location is quiet. The water runs and the toilet works. The AC works. The fridge works. I didn't try the wifi. If you are looking for an experience, then you should keep searching. Breakfast is some starch presented as muffins, tea, coffee, grits and hot chocolate. They run out of muffins before breakfast is over. This is not the place for pancakes, apples, yoghurt, bananas, orange and apple juice, eggs and potatoes. The carpet is in dire need of a wash or replacement. The towels are cheap grade. The bedside table was in need of dusting. Overall, I got what I needed, a place to sleep.

Cleanest, friendly hotel in Austin thus far, it is located in a safe place. Would recommend any of my friends or family to stay here! They serve a hot breakfast and that is rare these days. Nice hot coffee. Also I would recommend on staying on the top floor, nice and quiet and no one walking over you!

The scenery is very good, and the corner windows are very satisfying, especially at night when the lights outside the windows are very impressive. The room is clean and tidy, a little small, but the view is good, these are not important

I arrived at the Stephen F Austin Royal Sonesta at 2am after a delayed flight. It took 20 minutes for me to check-in due to issues with the hotel computer system. It might have been worth the wait, because I was upgraded to a suite. But I'd say that the suite was quirky: two rooms, nice furnishings, but no amenities. For example, the bar area in the living space had a sink but no accessories or drinks that you might expect to find on a bar. I fell asleep at 3am, and was woken at 8:45am by construction noises directly behind my bed. The noises included loud voices, drilling, banging, and scraping. Even with top-of-the-line ear plugs, it still woke me up. When I reported this issue via text message, the hotel manager looked into it instantly. He was on my floor talking to the hotel engineers by the time that I left my room. The manager recognized that I was the guest who had complained about noise, and apologized. He let me know that the work was supposed to be completed later in the day, and expressed sympathy for my rough morning. The manager set me up with some perks that made my stay more enjoyable and made up for the bad experience. So, all's well that ends well. The rest of my stay was good, especially because the hotel was in a really convenient location -- walking distance from my business meetings, restaurants, and tourist sites.

Facilities: The facilities are quite new
Hygienic: very clean
Environment: The location is very good. It is very close to the state capital building, but the lobby is very small and the hotel does not have a parking lot. Valet parking service is 15-55 according to the time limit.
Service: The waiter was very good and gave a free upgrade. The air conditioner in the back room was too loud and upgraded again.

Outstanding
GGuest UserWe pulled in about 2:00 am. We were tired and pleased to find a place near the airport at a reasonable rate. Our plan was to relocate to a better/different place in the morning. It turned out that the staff and facility were so good, we extended our stay for a few more days. A huge THANK YOU to the staff at the Wyndham Airport location. A great value because of the great staff!
GGuest UserPerfect!! New and SPOTLESS room. Yes, a little small for American standards but more than enough for a short stay. Good breakfast, with healthy options (fruit, good yogurt, omelettes)โฆ my husband would have liked more options but I had to remember him that itโs a 2-star hotel. It did not seem like that, but above ๐
Body soap, shampoo, condicioning and body cream. The only thing that I missed was a hairdryerโฆ I have brought one just in case from some others 2-star hotels reviews. I didnโt ask but I am pretty sure that they would have provided one at your request. The room also had an iron & iron table. Very kind personnel. Andโฆ kids stay for free!! We are a family of three but even better deal for a family of four!!
Close to the highway, 15-20 min driving to Capitol and downtownโฆ and perfect location to explore the sorroundings!!
GGuest UserI chose this hotel because I had an early flight out after staying 2 days. Upon checking in I noticed a few tiny ants on my bathroom counter and killed them but didn't think much about it. When I woke up in the morning there were tiny ants all over the counter including on my toothbrush and razor and all over the sink. I went to the front desk and told them about the ant problem, showed them pictures and asked to change rooms. They gave me another room which I am happy to say didn't have any ants. I was surprised that there was no offer of any compensation, either in discount or points when I brought this problem to the front desk. I did eat breakfast one morning in the hotel restaurant. I got the eggs, pancakes, bacon and potatoes. Everything was fine except the potatoes were cold. Also, the time it took to get my food from when it was ordered was slow. If you look at the satellite view there is a way to walk to the terminal in about 15 minutes if you don't want to take the free shuttle. I do like that the hotel sent me a text with a link to track the shuttle when I called from the airport and needed to be picked up. I probably would not stay here again since downtown is just a 20 min ride away.
GGuest UserConsistently lovely hotel with consistently good service. The juevos rancheros I ordered and had delivered to my room were incredibly good! And the coffee was nice and strong โฆ.. glad I asked for extra cream and sugars ! Great location near the Arboretum stores and shops at the Domain . Also close to Whole Foods, HโEโB grocery store, Gateway movie theater, and lots of good restaurants, many within walking distance.. Large rooms, bathroom stocked with Aveda products. (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bar soap for hands) was a very nice touch!
The only thing I didnโt like was they have recently started charging for self parking in their uncovered lot โฆ.. I paid $20 on 1/31/24. I donโt like that at all. Just put the price in your room rate and say free parking!
EExpatCambria is a newer hotel amidst the redevelopment projects taking place near Rainey Street, a historic landmark of homes turned into entertainment venues. Cambria is opposite side of the spectrum with innovative decor and relaxation. Note that parking costs 49USD per day with valet access only. We chose not to rent a car based on our needs in Austin. Came to visit my son and his family with my eldest son, so we wanted to have some options near nightlife activities. Local drivers shared info on the changes made to the nearby historic street, and staff was friendly with all needs. The water statiins were a plus. Where I think Cambria can improve is in the price of the rooms, menu items and operation hours of their lobby bar/roof bar since staff was short during our stay. Walking to the entertainment street required the back alley short trek, and that aspect took away from the lush atmosphere of the hotel. Grafitti and Limestone hotel venues can easily adjust their marketung strategies towards in-house entertainment along with the Valet arrangement to flow more smoothly and affordably. Itโs a lovely hotel which can become full circle staycation with a few adjustments regarding that aspect. New business developments working alongside grass roots businesses is key to smooth changes for both visitors and long-time locals. The pool atmosphere is great, the gym is clean, and the first floor waiting area an easy meeting spot.
GGuest UserI was extremely upset to see a movie with nudity and a scene of a nude man and a woman having sex (AKA porn) on the lobby / breakfast room television. I was even more upset when after asking the the manager, Diana, to change the channel she came into the area and I instead of just changing the channel to something more appropriate, asked the man seated behind me if it was okay for her to change the channel as if something like that was up for a vote among guests instead of hotel policy. To say I was angry at the way she mis-handled this would be an understatement . Despite the fact I stayed at this Hampton at least a half dozen times last year or so
, I wonโt be returning. Keep porn off public televisions and teach managers how to deal with matters of corporate policy would be my suggestion Hampton/Hilton.
Otherwise the location is good and the rooms are clean. Too bad they allow unclean programming to be played on their television in the public area. Thankfully no children were in there at the time this occurred.
My company Amazing Art Expo did a Disney, Star Wars, Anime art event at the Holiday Inn Midtown the weekend of Feb 1-3rd and my staff and I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. I want to first state, the rooms were incredibly clean, comfortable and the beds were very comfortable to a point where I slept better here than I do in my regular bed at home. The parking was plentiful and free and my staff and I felt safe with the surroundings that each night we walked to a restaurant without any worries. In first contacting the hotel about a month prior to the event, I spoke to Angie Mitschke who took the time to go over potential dates and respecting my budgetary needs, Angie worked extensively with me to accommodate our budget and reserve the ballrooms for us. I then proceeded to communicate with Mayra Lopez. Mayra was very adamant about making certain our room setup fit our expectations and her communication with me was outstanding. Despite our move-in date scheduled for Friday morning, Feb 1st, I requested at the last minute if we could unload the merchandise in our truck on Thursday afternoon in order to save time. Mayra and Angie both made this possible which gave us much more time to set up on Friday. This was a very nice add on and was greatly appreciated. The ballroom setup person (unfortunately I forgot his name) often checked in with us to see if we needed any service. Needless to say, the staff went above and beyond expectations. I highly recommend this hotel and I plan to do future business with them.
