I will preface this by saying I do not normally write reviews, but after sharing my experience with friends and family they encouraged me to share my experience with others who may be considering Miraval Austin. Background: I have stayed at the Lodge at Woodloch and my expectations were beyond exceeded. Miraval Austin, however, did not meet my expectations for a Spa/Wellness resort. Pros: -easy, clean, comfortable airport pick up / drop off (I believe provided by a 3rd party) -2 of the 3 spa services were phenomenal (relaxation massage and Kokoro ritual) -ladies locker room was clean and continually refreshed with new towels -request for different pillows was immediately addressed -request to turn off room's exterior light immediately addressed -consistently prompt attentive service in the dining room Cons -2 days prior to arrival we were emailed there may be noise in the men's locker room (not great, but not a deal breaker) upon arrival, we learned the men's hot tub was drained and would not be available at all during our stay -the 'quiet lounge' is not truly a quiet lounge because every half hour providers enter the room and callout their client's names thus disrupting all in the lounge (note to Miraval: why not consider a tv monitor that displays a clients name when its their time for service? or other silent method that would not constantly disturb the lounge?) -I tried to order a smoothie from the Nest, but was told they were unable to take out one of the ingredients from the menu item which did not make sense to me (the smoothie was strawberries, kale, spinach, etc) which for a wellness resort, these ingredients should all be fresh and easily left out when making smoothies, but I was told this was already pre-mixed? which did not make sense, unless it was a frozen mix of some sort which I would not expect from such a resort -the grilled chicken breast I was served at lunch tasted like it was of low quality / frozen; again, not the quality of food I would expect from a wellness resort -we called the front desk requesting more tea for our room, but never got it -there were multiple fireplaces around the resort that were off which didn't make sense because if they aren't turning them on in January when its cold and the warmth is needed, are they ever? -multiple maintenance issues: ladies outdoor firepit area dirty - cushions and ground, carpet frayed in dining room, light flickering in hot tub by the gym, missing portion of steps leading to our room (note to Miraval - probably want to fix this before someone falls and hurts themselves) -seemed that some staff members lacked training; we asked if there was a library anywhere to borrow a book and the employee we asked didn't know, then when speaking to the employee at the front desk, he was not aware that the men's hot tub was unavailable, when speaking to the front desk manager about our dissatisfaction with the men's hot tub being unavailable, she stated she did not know what was advertised
