I like the location. But they didn’t maintain well the room. . Water leaking from the shower. Wifi not working. You can watch youtube from the TV. I like about the staff honestly. I left my earing but they informed me. 5 star for the honesty. But overall stay is okay because of the reasonable price. Cannot expect more. Might consider staying they again for budget hotel.

SERIOUSSSLY RECOMMENDED! I read the 1 star review and I got the hotel which was totally opposite from what I read from the review of 1 star. The hotel was super duper clean! Super duper comfy! The equipment was super duper complete inside the hotel room. You can ask the company to clean your room in the morning, and yeah they will come and clean your room, you know! Just whatsapp them if anything is wrong. The procedure of getting the keys without any receptionist was totally a fun way and easy for someone who is introverted. AND CHEAP ALSO!!! Really near to the best MALL in Sabah as well. You can walk to the mall also.

Room was stylish and comfortable. Easy communication with reception through Whatsapp. A walk via the overpass to the Imago Shopping mall and several places to eat with a convenient store at the complex which was convenient. Checked out late because the extra charges were affordable. Found stains on the bedsheets though that was the downside. I didn’t really mind because they were clean but just stained though objectively this brought down the score.

We spent 3 nights at Gaya Island Resort and had a great time, I thought I would write a review because there are a few things worth considering before you go. Firstly, the place itself is amazing, the staff are super friendly and caring - probably the most professional I have ever experienced in my many years of travelling. So all in all it was a wonderful stay. The things worth noting are as follows: 1. The sunbeds, I think may have mentioned it and it's worth mentioning again - there are nowhere near enough. When you pay and arm and a leg to stay at a beautiful resort it is annoying that they haven't found a way to add more sunbeds. People get there early, throw on their towels and stay or disappear and the seat is gone for the day. This is a solvable issue and the resort should so something about it. 2. Check in is after 3 - could be later - and it's not flexible, so if you are arriving earlier be prepared to sit around waiting for your room. It would be nice if they could flex a little as waiting hours for a room without your bags is not a joy, but it is what it is. 3. Eating - you are on the resort, so you are eating in one of their restaurants - no other options available. There are a few restaurants so not really a problem (we did the hot pot restaurant and it was great), but good to be aware. By far the most expensive places we ate in Malaysia, but I guess given the quality of the resort it wasn't a surprise and the main restaurant is reasonable enough. 4. Activities - my wife and daughter did the cooking class and loved it, we did the night walk - which was fun and me and my son did the coral garden. The Coral garden was fun and I was lucky to see a big old shark. However there is a large amount of plastic floating on the surface of the water that is quite concerning and makes the whole place not feel so clean. The corals and fish look healthy so may be fine, but be prepared to swim through bottles and crisp bags to see the fish. The local resorts and local authorities should really work together to resolve and you pay the tourist tax, so not sure where that's going, but not to plastic clearance by the look of it. Hope that's helpful. all in all, it's a beautiful place to stay, could just do with a tweak here and there to make it even better

JJSTWSituated already Tun Mohd Fuad Road which is the main street in KK, this hotel location is superb, just 100m away from the art n craft market as well as the night seafood market along the promenade.
Hotel is clean n starts always given fantastic service to the hotel guests.
Highly recommended if you plan to stay Kk for few nights.

GGuest UserWhat a great, relaxing place this is! We booked our room by sending them a message in WhatsApp and had no issues. The location is around 15 km south from Kota Kinabalu airport which is great, because you get away from all the traffic noise of the city. You can hear the planes every now and then, but it is nothing like the noise in the KK center. For us the quiet surroundings were the really big thing. There are just a few sea view rooms and even when there were other customers, it was still peaceful and quiet. Sea view rooms have their own pool so most of the time it felt like having an own private pool just for us. The staff is friendly and helpful. They helped us to organise our next destination and also gave a hand when one of us got sick and needed to see a doctor. Their laundry service is great too: we gave a huge bag of laundry to them in the morning and got clean clothes back on the same day. Liza, the owner, is such a great personality and we had a great opportunity to taste a potential new sparkling wine with her. The restaurant is spacious with lovely view to the big yard and to the ocean. We liked their buffet breakfast, but on the last two morning they switched it to à la carte. For us it didn’t make a huge difference, because the food was plenty. It was pretty much the same as the buffet options but served to the table. The dinner menu has more western options than typical Malaysian restaurants. We tried spaghetti, lasagne and fish and enjoyed them all, but at the same time wished more local options. They do have surprisingly good selection of wines from all over the world. In addition to a few glasses of house wine, we ended up enjoying a bottle of Italian pinot grigio on the Valentine’s Day dinner.
The restaurant is relatively expensive compared to typical street food joints. Luckily, there is a really good local restaurant just a short walk away and we ended up eating there our last dinners. The Palm Square shopping area is just a quick Grab drive away and there you can find more local restaurants. Getting there costs 5 ringgits. Sea view rooms are clean and spacious. Shower has warm water, but sometimes it took a while to get it. Water pressure was weak but we managed with it. It is a really nice bonus that the pool is just few meters away from the room. Each room has their own decked terrace with a fan and two sunbeds. Like other have mentioned, there is a beach but it is not very good. They clean it, but the trash from the ocean piles up anyway. Annoying fact that affects so many beaches in Sabah. We spent five nights here and really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended!

JJackyKI stayed at this hotel for 6 days and 5 nights for both business and leisure purposes. The hotel's location is one of the best in Kota Kinabalu. On the first day, I was issued a room that did not match my reservation. However, the front office staff were friendly and very professional, and they assisted me in changing to another room. Unfortunately, the next day, I had to change rooms again due to a leaking air conditioner. It was honestly a very bad experience to have to change rooms twice within the first two days. Despite this, the Duty Manager, Mr. Bryan, was very kind and professional in helping me resolve the issue. I appreciate the Marriott's high standard of service. Overall, the stay was good, and the sunsets were breathtaking.

Day1 stay checked in around 330pm and it was smooth, we were assigned a room in which on my request. Wifi was strong, water pressure was superb, it has a damp(wet) carpet spot till the end of our stay.
Day2 breakfast was below average, unlike before, the variety was below par. Quality of the food wise average.
We asked for room cleaning(tidy) but since 1100am till 4pm when we back from our errands, the room was still untidy. But we called the passer by cleaning team for towels change and other amenities replenishment
Day3 breaksfast was like day2, less variety.
Day4 breakfast like same day2 and day3, if it werent included in our booking, i would rather buy outside.
3 nights stay was ok but the question remains, maybe i would recommend but i will come back if the breakfast choices improve

GGuest UserNothing much that i can say. my family and I have amazing stay at Borneo Beach Villa karambunai for 3 days 2 night. The villas is clean, the pool is clean and the beach is so beautiful. My family really enjoy with the stay. However the reason i give. 4 star because our villa has some of broken chair at table outside and the door is very hard to open because of rusty. I think maybe the villa itself is too old. Mybe it just our villa not sure with another. It will be nice if they can check regularly maintenance for each villa Some of things need to remind while you in here: 1. Villas doesnt have WIFI. Only have at receptionist, thus if you want to do work while chilling make sure you bring your own wifi. 2. Make sure to buy any groceries that you want before reach to villa because the distant with mart is far away they didnt have their own mart, only restaurant 3. This villa didnt provide any lobby service. But aboVe all that we are really enjoy staying here.

NNanie Idayu MMy husband and I spent two nights here. The queen room size is suitable for family with 2 children under 10. During our stay the tv channels had problems due to the change from analogue to digital tv. We asked for help from the maintanence and he showed up...3 times but the problem unsolved (my husband was quite upset because he wanted to watch the Malaysia Cup final between JDT and Kedah... lol). We have not tried the food because breakfast was not included in my room rate. Mini bar is not provided in room. The room and bathroom are clean. The hotel provide a newspaper every morning. The location is good even for those who come without transportation...just a few minutes walk to Imago, Craft Market and KK market
