Ok if it was possible I wouldn’t actually give this hotel any stars. The whole place is an absolute disaster from start to finish and not the cleanest of places we’ve ever stayed in. The first room there was only one small bed and I’d booked a king. The bedding had holes in it. The carpet is disgustingly dirty. There’s no where in the shower to put your shampoo etc, so you have to step outside lather up then back into the shower to rinse off!! The second room (I had to pay to upgrade) wasn’t much better. The pool well it was broken and looked like a bath on top of the garage!!

This boutique hotel met all my needs and more during a recent stay in Ballarat. It was a 5-minute walk down the road to the train station to go to Melbourne, and located in the heart of the town so it was walking distance to restaurants, supermarkets, and many local attractions. I was pleased with the on-site car parking as it was very secure, and the hotel room decor was charming - and looks just like the photos. My room also had bowls & spoons so I could eat my own cereal as well as a smart TV, which were nice touches. Room service is available at dinner which was convenient. Despite being located next to & near many pubs/hotels, it was incredibly quiet. Best of all, all the staff were incredibly friendly and it was a pleasure to see them around the place during my stay. I'll be staying here again next time I'm in Ballarat!

We stayed at this hotel as part of a 50th birthday party. It’s definitely a boutique hotel situated in an old historic building which has been extensively renovated. The rooms have an old worldly feel. The whole place is a bit of a rabbit warren starting with the entry to the undercover garage. It wasn’t a problem at all, just unusual. The hotel is clean, tastefully furnished and in a great location. I would suggest that if you are a light sleeper, ask for a room at the back. The car hoon culture in Ballarat was alive and well the night we stayed (Saturday) - all night.

Overpriced for amenities included, but clean, plenty of hot water, secure and undercover parking. Easy walk to many restaurants. Room was ok, if needing a bit of a refresh (not enough to get really serious about though). We stayed because it was one of the only rooms available over a long weekend without pre booking. Close to the Irish pub, which was where we were heading.

We were largely soooo disappointed with this hotel that I don't quite know where to start. We stayed for two days. Pros: - Location: centrally located and puts you in the middle of the the busiest part of the city where you have access to most of the restaurants and interesting sites on foot, or easy access to public transport. - Car Park: located below the rooms (accessible via a small lane behind the hotel) and behind a locking door at the back of the facility, are better than what is provided by the competing locations nearby. - Wifi : was good, had no problems with it at all. Cons: - Cleanliness of the room: as soon as we entered the room and removed our shoes at the entrance to the door, you could immediately feel the carpet is dirty and REQUIRES A GOOD CLEAN! We quickly had to buy sleepers from the nearby Big W, AND we found a cockroach running across the lower room to hide underneath the queen bed on the morning of our check-out day! - Toilet: we rented a room with one queen bed and two single beds (Room No: 6) where the queen bed is located on the lower part of the room with its own toilet, shower and bath tub, and the two single beds was located on the upper part of the room with it's own toilet and shower. The flashing of the toilet on the lower part was so bad that we had to flash it 4 or 5 times (pressing both flashing buttons!) every time we do either a number 1 or 2. The toilet on the upper part was good, but that is not the point. BOTH toilets should both be functional! I reported this to reception on the second day with the promise that someone will be sent to the room to get it looked at, but disappointingly, I don't think anything was done. When we came back to the hotel after a day of exploring, there was no change to the flashing. - We paid $225 per night for the room, and room sleepers were not included in the price. I must say we have stayed in a lot of hotels all over the world and have never come across this. This is the first I've ever stayed in a hotel where room sleepers are not provided . Seriously??!! At a rate of $225 per night, in a room that is nothing special, and where one toile is not really even functioning that is just outrageous! - Heated Plunge Pool: the description of the hotel on TripAdvisor is that one of the hotel's amenities is their headed plunge pool. Upon check-in I asked reception where the heated plunge pool was located and was told that their pool is not operational and has not been operational for quite some time. She then proceeded to ask where I got the information that they have a pool available for guest use and I told her from TripAdvisor, and nothing further was said. Would we stay there again? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

We chose this place for a weekend in Ballarat and were particularly interested in the central location. The reception staff were most helpful as we extended a further night and they were able to cater for us easily. The car park on site was secure and convenient but appeared to under-cater for the number of booked rooms. The room itself was comfortable and tidy, but not necessarily clean throughout. Some of the furniture had not been dusted for a while. Nice bathroom with great water pressure. However the plumbing in the building was quite old I believe, with loud clunking sounds from time to time. We thought it was somewhat overpriced for what it offered, but I guess you're paying for the location.
