Trail Lodge is a nice location which has obviously had a lot of money spent on it, but it is let down by attention to detail. We observed a pile of used towels that remained in the corridor for 3 days. The kitchen sink tap was broken and required jamming with a sponge to make it usable. Food that was in the communal kitchen that had been left by previous guests had not been removed. Had these points been addressed, then a much higher score would have been awarded. That said, I would stay here again as the location was just what we wanted and nice and quiet.

I spent 2000 on a room over a year ago. 2:00 checkin. Ferry arrived and showed at 5:30 and LOCKED OUT. My room was sold out from me and 5 of us crammed in a room. I look at this as STEALING. 5 of us were crammed in a room. Be thankful there was some type of lodging, if not I e we old have contacted head administrator of TT, head administrator of IOM, local press and then I’d sic my attorneys on you. Never in my life has sometime this happen.

All the rooms have extremely heavy doors that slam shut. This happens all night and day. Completely rattled the entire building. There was also no coffee or tea in the room. We did not see any staff, besides the cafe workers in 4 days.

Great lodge for anyone who loves the outdoors. Cosy rooms with very comfy beds. Anyone around 6ft and over needs to take care underneath the wooden beams (but low ceilings are common in these old farm type buildings).

Very good standard of equipment, reminded me of a shared ski chalet. In a quiet pretty setting with plenty of parking and with local shops within walking distance.

This is basically a youth hostel, and a very expensive one. Kicking myself that I didn’t check the Google reviews first. Came here with my 6yr old and 8yr old. Each room has its own dedicated toilet/tiny bathroom but it is NOT en-suite, it’s too far away to be practical. You cannot expect small children to find and unlock the toilet (yup it needs a key) down a corridor three doors away if they need to go in the middle of the night. Even in the daytime, the walk from the bedroom to the kitchen and lounge is too far to let young kids do it on their own. It’s pointless having a plush bedroom when all the other facilities are too far away for small children to safely go on their own. Absolute disaster of a place. The opposite of kid-friendly. I don’t give a hoot if it’s got a nice lake. I just want a safe environment for my kids to navigate without all three of us having to go everywhere together. If I need to shower or go to the toilet, is it okay to leave my 6yr old three communal doors away? No.

Just spent the weekend at Trail lodge. We are a family of 4, beautiful setting, the lodge itself was clean, warm and really comfortable. Showers are good and the whole place is quite new and really well presented. Silverdale is great for the kids, lovely walks around the place. Would highly recommend. 👍

Love the location, rooms are beautiful and setting is idyllic. The only thing I could say is you have a designated bathroom for each room and our bathroom kept being used by other people staying in the property. Men who don’t clean up after themselves! The room key doesn’t lock the bathroom and all the other bathrooms were being used too for bathroom and showers never a dry/clean bathroom in the morning but not all rooms were occupied so I think both the other guest were just using any tbh not a big deal but we would of preferred to have our own which could be locked? Also found some items under the bunk bed that weren’t from us but not a big deal. All in all fabulous place and location would recommend and definitely return. Please just maybe sort the bathroom situation out but I don’t think this is a reflection on the property owner but the guest using it as each bathroom is named after your room so common sense and respect for other guests.

3 adults, 1 child and 1 infant in our party and we had the best stay here. Facilties are lovely and you feel really at home. We stayed for a wedding and it was located just few minutes away from the venue. The park at the back was perfect for the children to play and if you had older children you could watch from the window. We will be coming back for sure.
