More of a stately house experience than a B&B. We didn't appreciate how special this place is until we were welcomed and shown around by the owner's daughter. We felt so privileged to stay here and be able to enjoy the house. Having access to the stunning library in the evening was particularly wonderful. Our room had wonderful views of the gardens and couldn't have been more comfortable. The breakfast with crested porcelain and little silver spoons was an experience in itself (and delicious!). We walked into Bantry from the house a couple of times and enjoyed a tour around the house itself and of course the gardens. Hopefully we can return again in the future.

What a wonderful bed and breakfast! We had a fabulous dinner our first night followed by an actual CHOICE of hot breakfasts each morning, Anne and Rita were most accommodating. Beds were comfy and room were very clean. This is what a Bed & Breakfast should be!!!!!

We spent one night at Bantry House B and B. What fun! Everyone was very welcoming. Loved hearing the history of the house . It was fabulous to spend time, after regular hours, in the library and the gardens. Breakfast was great . Glad we spent a night here - could have spent more!

My husband and I stayed in this lovely B&B for 3 nights last week. Location is very good just outside Bantry, about 15 minutes walk in to town. Our room was lovely and bright and clean. Toiletries were provided. We loved the fact that the breakfast room was available to guests to make a cuppa or have a snack. The best thing about this B&B is most certainly Barbara the hostess. She just goes that extra mile to ensure that everyone is made to feel welcome.

This is one of the most charming, characterful places I have stayed at. Its really amazing when you pull up outside the house, full of old world charm and beauty; we felt really felt privileged to stay. The view across Bantry Bay was beautiful. Its not a five star super slick shiny place its way beyond that and for us it exuded a warmth and welcome beyond our expectations. It was as if you were part of the household or an old friend returning. The rooms were lovely they were full of character and extremely comfortable filled with lovely furniture. The beds were ultra comfortable. The bathroom was very well appointed; the room was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was really good with something for everyone. I took some time after breakfast and read the paper looking over the views from our room; so relaxing. The staff were all really nice and accommodating. Sam who is I believe one of the family is such a nice guy and nothing was too much trouble for him to ensure you enjoyed your stay. Having been there I would recommend you come and stay as you won’t experience something like Bantry House too often in your life.

A wonderful short break experience. Highly recommend an overnight stay in this heritage house. The family are welcoming and this adds to the personal touch. I would recommend the house guided tour to appreciate the history of the house and family. Breakfast was fabulous. The Library room open to guests after hours, as is the snooker room, made the whole experience memorable.

Great place. Peaceful. Outstanding views over the bay. Very friendly. Possible to drink tea indoor and outdoors . When visiting Cork we always drop by. The gardena are really beautiful. The starecase outside is steep.

I loved this place because it was so romantic! The big historic house, which needs saving and the family running a B&B to try and do so. If you love old houses, history and are a bit romantic this is the place for you. If you like everything to be new with fast internet, you might not be so well suited. Bantry House is a proper Georgian mansion, open to the public during the day. We stayed two nights so that we would have time to tour the house and gardens. Both were well worth seeing. The house tour was very informative and given, I think, by a family member. We arrived in the rain, and Sam (family member) helped get our bags up to our room. Our room was big, with fabulous views across Bantry Bay. It was spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed and 2 armchairs positioned to look at the sea. It was traditionally decorated. We were too lazy to walk the 10 minutes down into Bantry town for a meal so ordered the cheese board for two, with a glass of wine, on both nights. I really enjoyed this option; sitting looking at the view eating good Irish cheese, cracks, tomatoes, chutney etc. We could have had our cheeseboad in the amazing and enormous library, complete with marble columns and antique bookcases if we had wanted. Sam offered to light the fire for us, a real fire, with logs! Guests have the run of the library after public opening hours with or without a cheeseboard. Amazing. Breakfast was delicious and charming. There was a small cold buffet of home made scones, quality irish cheese, fruit, yoghurt, juice, nice bread .... and the traditional cooked options too. We sat at individual tables dressed in white table clothes and pretty china. Julia, family again, cooked our second breakfast. I loved staying at Bantry House. I'd stay again with no hesitation and thoroughly recommend it. Wonderful place.
