QpeipeiChoosing the Past & Present Hotel for my Yangshuo trip was absolutely the right decision! It's right by the Yulong River, so when you open the window, you're greeted by mountains and flowing water, with bamboo rafts drifting past – it's like living inside a traditional Chinese ink painting. The room was clean and comfortable, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering an incredible view. The bedding was soft, the toiletries smelled lovely, and the Dyson hairdryer was a definite plus.
The housekeeper was attentive and always available when needed, without being intrusive. The breakfast was varied and delicious, especially the Guilin rice noodles. In the evening, they even offer a complimentary sweet soup. The infinity pool and large lawn are perfect for photos. The location is both quiet and convenient, with free parking. My entire stay was relaxing and rejuvenating. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit to Yangshuo. Highly recommend!

Out of the three boutique guesthouses I stayed at in Yangshuo, this one was by far the best. The environment, service, views, and comfort were all impeccable. The aesthetic appeal is evident in every corner of the guesthouse. It's a shame I only stayed here on my last night; if I had booked it for my first night, I definitely would have extended my stay for three days. You can truly feel that this is a guesthouse dedicated to providing excellent service and caring for its guests' experience.
First off, the location is fantastic, very close to the Yulong River bamboo rafts and the Ten-Mile Gallery.
The beds here are incredibly comfortable; I slept wonderfully. There's a bathtub (and it fills up super fast!), and the butler brought me rose petals for a relaxing soak. All the toiletries are L'Occitane, and the guesthouse features smart home technology. Even the hairdryer is a Dyson, and the overall hygiene is excellent. The butler service is incredibly responsive; they get back to you quickly on WeChat. It's the kind of service I appreciate – available when you need it, but not overly intrusive or overwhelming.
The afternoon tea, welcome fruit, minibar, late-night snack, and breakfast were all very generous. The complimentary late-night snack was the most thoughtful I've ever received at any guesthouse.
The overall environment is incredibly photogenic, with a swimming pool and a stunning rooftop floating pavilion (a must-visit for sisters who love taking photos – remember to book a time with the butler in advance!). There's also a pasture with complimentary deer feeding; the sika deer make for beautiful photos, and there's a white horse too.
There are so many more details I can't even list them all. I highly, highly recommend this place! If they open another guesthouse elsewhere, I'd definitely stay again (though currently, this is their only location).

Ling ིིྀI stayed at Julong Town for two nights and I really want to recommend this hidden gem of a hotel in the heart of Yangshuo's landscapes to everyone. The room had massive floor-to-ceiling windows, and as soon as you opened the door, you were greeted by an entire wall of karst peaks. Lying in bed in the morning, watching the clouds slowly weave around the mountains, it truly felt like living inside an ink wash painting.
The hotel's location is absolutely incredible. The back exit leads directly to the Yulong River, and the lotus pond was in full bloom. You absolutely *must* visit the 'Sky Mirror' on the top floor; the mountains reflected in the mirror create stunning photo opportunities. If you're traveling with kids, the children's playground, DIY lacquer fan and bead crafts, and feeding the bunnies can keep them entertained for half a day.
Service was simply perfect. Our butler proactively set up a group chat and sent thoughtful reminders about breakfast times, afternoon tea, and when the complimentary late-night noodles would be delivered. The freshly cooked Guilin rice noodles for breakfast were even more authentic than outside, and there were exquisite desserts every afternoon. When we returned in the evenings, warm late-night snacks were delivered directly to our room.
The facilities are also incredibly comprehensive, with a pool, gym, and tea room. The room even came with a washer-dryer combo, which was such a lifesaver when traveling with a child. For that window view and this level of service, I'll definitely choose this place again on my next trip to Yangshuo.

🏔️😱 Don’t know how it was possible, but this hotel was even more beautiful in real life than the photos. Built inside a renovated historic sugar factory, Yangshuo Sugar House combines the refined aesthetics of the mountain landscape with historical architectural elegance. ✨
🚙🌾 The hotel offers various free and at-cost activities you can book through their concierge. We wanted to go see the Longji Rice Steps during our stay, which is about an 2.5 hour drive away from Yangshuo by car. I messaged the hotel the day before we arrived and they were able to arrange a private driver to take us there and back over an 8 hour trip. Mr. Qin was amazing and very kind! He took us directly to buy the tickets and then drove us to the entrance point of the cable car. There was pretty extreme rain on the way back and he got us down the mountain very efficiently. It was an extremely memorable day which was only made possible by the hotel’s extraordinary attentive drivers and diligent concierge staff. ⭐️
🍴The room comes with a daily buffet breakfast, free soft drinks, and fruit. The hotel restaurant is good, but breakfast is really where the food shines. So many delicious options to choose from, and there was adorable panda shaped buns 🐼
📸 The hotel also offers free travel photography on the premises, which takes about 30~ minutes and you receive 5 free photos, with additional available to purchase at 50 yuan. It was fun and very efficient!
🌸 Overall, a major highlight of our China trip & we wish we had stayed longer. Thank you again!

The hot spring pools on the mountainside, coupled with the distant green peaks, are absolutely stunning. The rooftop infinity pool and Moon Mountain create a picturesque scene. The 270-degree panoramic mountain and water views are incredible! Plus, there's a free shuttle service to the pier for bamboo rafting, which was a fantastic experience. I'll definitely be back! The hotel also offered a complimentary travel photography session, and the service was excellent, producing some truly beautiful photos. Ten out of ten!

One of the best home stays I’ve stayed in for a while! The owners are so welcoming and the wife went out of her way to make me lovely food, drive me down to the ferry crossing and offer me advice for local hikes.
This is perfect for people who want to get away from the busy and touristy old town. It’s tucked away on the side of a mountain with gorgeous views of the Li river.
There is also an incredible hike up Damian mountain, built by the owners themselves! The owners will give you really easy instructions to reach the steps that take you up to the platform at the top. It’s also on the correct side of the river for the much busier Xianggong sightseeing platform.
Here are a few things to note:
- This is not close to anything else and will require you to get a ferry from Xingping old town for 5 yuan and pay someone to drive you up the mountain to the home stay
- Alternatively you can walk up in about 40 mins which is a very peaceful.
- They have some really friendly pets, a cat and 2 dogs. But just be aware if you’re not an animal person, but the dog will lead you up part of the path for the hike up Damian mountain!
