The hotel is decent overall, but some aspects could use improvement. The setup feels a bit run-down, and the facilities seem outdated. Additionally, the policies are quite rigid, which detracted from the experience. For instance, there’s a RM 30 penalty for a missing room card, which feels a bit excessive. With a bit more flexibility and some upgrades to the premises, not recommended to stay.

Rooms is a good size with amazing view over Tawau and the coastline, but the rooms really are in need of some refurbishment.

GGuan Jiannstayed here for the first time. when lady boss heard i'm a frequent traveler to tawau (at least 2 x 2 days trips per month) she gave me a free upgrade to deluxe room. Room was big and spacious and tv comes with netlfix. the only little imperfection for me was the lacking of water kettle in room. It would be better to either have individual kettle in each room or hot & cold water dispenser at each level. best would be also equiping the rooms with mini bar. over all its a good stay.
GGuest UserGood location. Many restaurants & stores near the hotel. The hotel is located on the 1st floor, reaching there by the staircase. The room was not big & no window although I booked a family room. But it was clean & comfortable👍. The staff is really helpful. 😁
AAJ1569One of the best place to consider if you visiting Tawau. Approx rates start RM 100 per room per night. Walking distance to Tawau market, shops, eateries etc. Down of this hotel building is a 24-hour KFC.
GGuest UserI visited Tawau with some trepidation. It's not a major tourist drawcard and there isn't a lot of Western-style hotels available. So I went with a hunch and chose Vista. I can say it turned out to be a real find. The Tatami King room was comfortable and spotless. The WiFi was fast and the coffee machine was perfect to get the heart started in the morning. The room is pokey but large enough to not fill cramped. The hotel is located in a shoplot district, so there was plenty of food and entertainment options. Everything was at my fingertips. And all for less than $70 per night. The staff are also very helpful and sweet. If you ever visit this hidden gem of a city, look no further than the Vista.
We were passing through from Tawau to Tarakan and slept here for one night. The location is a bit strange because it is outside the center and in the middle of a shopping complex. The hotel and the entrance are on the 3rd floor directly above the KFC. We had a family room that was sparkling clean and very large - with a small staircase to the two children's beds. The bathroom is super clean and western style. The furnishings are modern - we were told that the hotel will open in September 2023. There is a coin laundry a minute away - opposite a mega good bakery that serves croissants etc... - a very nice change from Asian food and a good reminder of home. You can get to the ferry port/waterfront in about 15 minutes with Grab. Grab is there within a few minutes. We won't be coming back to Tawau anytime soon, but we can highly recommend this hotel.
RRozmaClean room. Excellent housekeeping service . suggest to have the phone line repaired ( cracking sound) , unable to have a clear conversation with the receptionist . Other than the small issue, I had an enjoyable stay at the hotel.
HHazel OThe room was pretty big and the lack of window wasn't a problem. There could have been a few more amenities. There was tea/coffee/hot water in the lobby, but not in the room. The bed was comfortable. The air con and shower worked well. My only complaint is that there are swallows nesting nearby and they twittered incessantly.
FFabian Lim Chin WenThe location is great but parking is a pain. Even at night, the parking is crazy.
I love the room deco. It simple yet beautiful. HOwever, i really dislike the bathroom and toilet. There is no real door and it directly open to the room. No privacy and everything just goes to the room, so to speak.
LLily WStay in Deluxe room, spacious, ample solid wood furnishing, bed, sliding wooden door curtain gave a antique warm feel, bathtub was a treat, many newer hotel wouldn't have bathtub for RM150 per night, marble bathroom floor and sinktop, looks wee b it aged but functions well. Personally for environmental friendliness, it is better to maintain quality aged furnishing in hotel rather than continuously dismantling older furnishing to change to new ones which likely to be of less quality, like no longer solid wood or marble. Lobby and breakfast area also have marble floor, lavish chandelier, wood frame walls. Breakfast though limited choice was quite tasty. Just one suggestion: please provide milk for coffee rather than just using creamer pack.
WWolverineXXXHotel: The check in process was a mess. They wanted deposits when checking in that was not listed when we booked the hotel. No one to help us with luggage to our rooms have to carry them ourselves. Luckily there is a elevator/lift to the floors which makes it a bit easier. The hotel is not near any good food stalls, you have to travel quite a distance to get decent food. The only good thing is that it is near the major market where you can purchase fresh seafood and other products that you might want to take home as souvenirs. They are also near a supermarket which allows you to buy almost anything you need a reasonably cheap price. Room: Stuffy when we entered. It's like no one has stayed there for a long time. Turned the air conditioning unit on and it took hours before the room got to a nice temperature. The towels are rough and there is no soap, shampoo or other amenities you would normally find at even the cheapest hotel. The shower is ok with hot water. There is no floor mat so there will be wet floors if you walk out of the bath room wet. The window was not locked when we went in and there is a fire balcony and stairs in front of the window which poses a risk of your room being burglarise at any time. It is better to have a room without window as the view is nothing to shout about. Service: Very very poor. When we ask for soap, extra towels and etc ... the standard answer we don't have extra towels or soap. The reception does not do anything for you except to make sure you pay the deposit and process your checking in/out. Summary: Will never ever stay in this hotel again for my next trip to Tawau. Will NOT recommend anyone to stay here even if the prices are reasonable because the service and rooms are not up to standard. This place should not be called a hotel.
