The location is bit far from the center but the surrounding environment is peaceful. Staffs are helpful and supportive. However, there is no usb charging port so bring Swiss charger!

Very beautiful hostel in Basel. Best quality/value coherence. Super green and stylish design. You have a lot of space where to rest: lobby, terrace or garden. I lived in the quadrille room on the second floor. Shower and toilet are located on a general floor, nor in your private room, but still place is spacious and you have a lot of variants where to go

It is a very worthwhile place to stay. I have recommended it to all my friends. The hotel is beautiful, the surrounding environment is beautiful and quiet, and the breakfast is delicious. It is the best hotel I have stayed in during my trip.

The location is very good, and the ecological environment by the river is also great! The space is large, the restaurant, lobby, etc. are well designed, and the breakfast is very rich! Worth recommending!

good breakfast staff friendly The single room itself is not bad, but the shower room in the room is worse than the shared shower room.

The guys at the reception were very friendly. The breakfast is very varied, and everything was very tasty! The facilities are clean! You can also leave your luggage in a locker for 5 francs! I would go back without a doubt.

Fantastic staff. Our private room was large, very practical (some more hooks for towels and a longer towel rack would be helpful). The hotel is located in St. Alban, close to many of the sights in Basel. Very quiet inside and outside. Highly recommended. Good breakfast until 9:30 a.m.

We slept one night here and I have to say, it may be basic, but we slept really well. Comfortable bed. No noise. Showers and toilets along the corridor. In the morning a truly abundant and good quality continental breakfast. Calculating the Basel average, the price quality was high. Note: they offer the Basl Card for free, a card that allows you to have discounts on museums and access to free public transport

I booked an overnight stay in a single room with a washbasin - the price is currently 95 CHF + 4 tourist tax. I didn't stay in a hotel because I wanted to save money and Switzerland is much more expensive than Germany. The advantage of the youth hostel: the booking includes a Basel Card, which allows you to use all public transport for free. You also only pay 50% of the entrance fee to museums, etc. Another advantage: the location of the youth hostel is very central, but still quiet (only in terms of city life), in the old town very close to the Rhine. You can walk to the center. The area is idyllic. I had a room with windows on the opposite side of the Rhine, where it cooled down pleasantly at night despite it being a hot summer day. Another advantage: the breakfast is quite good, it is available from 6:00 a.m., and the coffee/cappuccino from the machine is of high quality. However, you have to pay CHF 4.00 for a cappuccino outside of breakfast times. A room without a shower/toilet with a washbasin is no problem because there are enough toilets and individual showers on the floor. And a good shower towel could be borrowed for CHF 3. The staff at the youth hostel were very friendly. Most of the other guests were not; my greeting in the hallway was often not returned. Now for the disadvantages, which outweighed the advantages for my needs: Firstly, the relative thin walls. Relative, because the building structure seems normal in this respect, but the behavior of other guests is inconsiderate. At the time I was staying there, there were many families with small children present, some of whom let their children scream uncontrollably (without there being any pain or argument) - the children scream partly because they enjoy screaming in the rooms, but also because the concrete corridors echo so nicely, and probably because the parents thought that everyone could let themselves go in a youth hostel. I didn't say anything to these families because I know from experience that it doesn't help and because I only stayed one night. But I did mention it to the staff, but nothing happened (it's probably pointless for them too). I visited Basel myself to see a lot of art, and I'm the kind of person who needs a guest room as a place to retreat to during the day before heading out again. The impressions of this interesting city are overwhelming. This youth hostel is not suitable for that. I could only sleep with earplugs, and even then it was restless. Unfortunately, you can't move into the room until 3 p.m. - after the long journey on a hot day, I would have liked to have been able to rest and freshen up a little earlier (but it would probably have been too loud to rest anyway). There are no hooks or anything similar in the room to hang up towels or clothes. The toilets are also
