Hotels near Mittelalterliche Stadtmauern, Basel

I was confused before I arrived in person, so I will clarify the situation for you. There is an elevator that goes up to the fourth floor. The wheelchair accessible rooms have roll-in showers. There are bathtubs in two rooms on the fifth floor, which requires going up a flight of stairs. We stayed in a room on the fifth floor because it was more important to us to have a bathtub than to have a wheelchair-accessible room. Bonus: the rooms on the fifth floor have air conditioning! There is a shower in the bathroom. There is also a separate bathtub, which is surrounded by rocks. (Why?) The bathtub sides are steep. We found the mattress to be comfortable. The room has a sloped ceiling because the roof is sloped. There are hardwood floors and sky lights. There is also a glass table and a couple of chairs in room 550. We found the front desk staff to be very friendly and helpful. There are various free drinks and fruits (espresso drinks you make, water, and tea; apricots, apples, plums) and other drinks for purchase. The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch (closing at 13:30). The garden is nice.

I booked a night in a single room with Lavabo - the price is currently at 95,- CHF + 4,- courtage. I am not in a hotel because I wanted to save money and Switzerland is much more expensive than Germany. Benefits of youth hostels: The booking includes a Basel card that allows you to use all the public service free of charge. Furthermore, you pay only 50% of the entry at museums etc. Another advantage: the location of the youth heritage very central, but still quiet (only with regard to the city event), in the old town very close to the Rhine. You can walk to the center. The neighborhood is idyllic. I had a room with windows on the opposite side of the Rhine, there cooled it in spite of a hot summer day in the night nicely from another advantage: breakfast is quite good, it is already ready from 6:00, and the coffee/cappucino from the machine is of high quality. However, one must pay for a cappucino outside the breakfast hours CHF 4.00. A room without shower/WC with Lavabo is easy because there are enough toilets and single showers available on the floor. And a good shower bathtub was to be borrowed for 3,- CHF. The staff of the youth hostels were very friendly. Most other guests do not, often my greeting was not answered on the hall. Now to the disadvantages that weigh more seriously for my needs than the benefits: first of all the relative brightness. Relatively because the construction substance appears normal in this respect, but the behaviour of other guests is ignorant. At the time of my stay, many families with small children were present, some of which let their children cry unremittingly (without pain or dispute) - the children cry partly for fun at crying, in the rooms, but also, Because it is so beautiful in the concrete halls, and well because the parents thought that all could be left in a youth hostel. I didn't say anything to these families because I know from experience that it doesn't bring anything and because I just stayed a night. But I have spoken to the staff, but nothing has been done (that is probably also useless for them). I myself visited Basel to look at a lot of art, and I am a guy who needs a guest room as a place of withdrawal even daily to get back. The impressions in this interesting city are overwhelming. This youth hostel is not suitable for this. I could only sleep with earstops, and that's only uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the room can only be obtained from 15:00 - I would have wished to be able to rest a little before and make me fresh after the long arrival of a hot day (but probably it would have been too loud to rest). Very close to the conference center, many buses are here. There are coop and many restaurants nearby. At the peak of the conference, I placed two orders for three nights. The staff was very intimate to become three consecutive nights. There was no need to check in and check out repeatedly. The staff are very warm and friendly and will choose here next time you come to Basel.

I have stayed in many Ibis budget hotels and this was by far one of the best ones. The ladies at reception were extremely friendly and helpful and the gentleman who was in charge of breakfast provided first class service. All hotel staff spoke German, French and English and were very approachable. The room was nice and tidy. I was given a Basel card at the hotel, which allowed me to use public transport free of charge and provided access to various museums with half price entry. Although this hotel is a 15-minute walk from the train station Basel SBB, there are 2 trams that one can take from Basel SBB that lead to a tram stop, which is a 2-minute walk from the hotel. I had a great time here and can highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Basel. Thanks to the Ibis team for a great time there!

Good location if you are traveling on public transport. We came from Colmar by train and the hotel is only a short taxi ride from the station. It is not an area for cafes, restaurants etc. as there is nothing around. There is a tram just up from the hotel and you can take this into the heart if the city. We didn’t as it was only an overnight stay and we were too tired. We contented ourselves with a snack from a machine in the lobby. The room was small but for one or two nights not a problem. Bed was comfortable, water hot and WiFi good. We left too early for breakfast so can’t comment on the food. The young lady on reception was very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend for short stays. Great value for the price we paid, AU$97.

It was not bad to stay in a youth hostel for the first time. There is a young lady at the front desk during the day who is very enthusiastic. But when I returned to the hostel at ten o'clock in the evening, there was no one at the front desk. I called the service call and was answered by a man. The man's service attitude was not very good, he was very impatient, and he had no sense of service. The four-person all-female room I chose was pretty good, but there was only one USB plug on the bedside, which was not very convenient for charging. But overall it's quite clean and the equipment is relatively new.

Chose the hotel as it was in an excellent location for us as we love to travel. I wanted to see the Rhein again in Germany my son wanted Switzerland so the perfect compromise. Everything was great. The rooms were clean and spacious, staff on reception were helpful especially the male member of staff. Very polite and helpful even when very busy. I didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment. There’s supermarkets/shopping centres/ buses and trams on the doorstep and the nicest views on the Rhein.

Came during Basel art period, Everything else was full so I chose this one. The hotel is quite new. There was no problem with the service either. The hotel was quite full. A small problem is that the hotel is in Germany. Taking a taxi can only be done in the most primitive way: Ask the front desk to call or hail a car on the road. And you can only pay cash when renting a car. A little inconvenient. The tram station is only a 3-minute walk away.

I travel a lot and usually dont care about the exterior of the Hotels but the inside and staff is important. Worker at the desk was very polite and skilled when i checked in. When i entered the room... abt 300 Euro a night! To say its old to say nothing - like in the old good USSR times in Moscow, Sankt Petersburg, DDR side of Berlin! 40 years ago, what a nostalgic feeling, smell of old carpet, never cleaned AC. First evening at the Restaurant i choose Wiener Schnitzel with salad and French fries 🍟. My first Wiener Schnitzel ever and never ever if this piece of smashed to 3 mm dry pork was the real Wiener Schnitzel then sorry... Only good thing was the salad. Asked in the morning if they do laundry the answer was - no, but whae i asked again at the desk in an hotel for 300 Euro a night the lady called someone and repeated what he heard on the other side of the line - laundry is the responsibility of the guests. Means do your self At the hotel For 300 Euro a night! Finally me and the lady on the desk figured out that the hotel does outsource the laundry to a third party company. Duration - few days, At the hotel For 300 Euro a night! Complimentary water only upon arrival, At the hotel For 300 Euro a night! Kettle, tea in room? Deam on! At the hotel For 300 Euro a night!
