The George Hotel

The hotel was very clean and staff very friendly.Really looked after well . On two nights couldn’t use the car park

The shower was broken and the toilet didn’t flush. The room itself was fine but I wouldn’t expect much from the George.

Excellent hotel and service. Highly recommend to everyone.

The property is very convenient for National Trust visits, and onsite parking behind the premises is very convenient. Check in until 10pm is handy too as we arrived at 21:59 due to traffic conditions. I already knew that if we were in the attic that our room would likely be sub-par. We were, and it was. The attic landing is musty, doors and ceilings very low, very much feeling like servants quarters. the hotel management are making an effort with redecoration, but this cannot hide the fact that fixtures and fittings need replacing too. Water pressure is so low in the attic that showering is impossible, so set the bath running ahead of time if you want to be clean. My booking showed a photo of a four-poster bed - nope, a double pushed up against the wall for no apparent reason is what we had in a room big enough to be laid out better. We paid under £45 on this occasion, and at that price would stay again. The Italian Restaurant on the ground floor serves breakfast nice and early. To check out, simply drop your key in the box outside the building.

Avoid avoid avoid. First a positive.. the guy on reception was pleasant. Room 1... where to start. A vile view of a fire escape ladder that was a hazard in itself. The bathroom floor hadn't been cleaned, it still had toothpaste dribble dried on the floor. The ceiling is tacked up plasterboard with a downlighter dangling dangerously out of it. The bathroom window is cracked and never been cleaned. The sink has a huge crack it in. The shower drain wouldn't drain away. The water sat there for ages. 3 very flat small pillows for 2 people. The whole room had a damp musty smell that the air freshener didn't have a hope of covering. It could be a very beautiful hotel but it needs some serious money spending on it

Perfectly acceptable. The cost was half the other hotels in Battle and the room was as expected. I heard that it is under new ownership and the new owners are aware that the rooms need updating. The carpet was very worn, the bed was squishy, the pillows were sad. But the room was clean and the staff were helpful. Great location.

The hotel was very clean our room was beautiful and well worth the price paid for the duration of our stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful , we had many guest here as we were all there for a wedding The reason I gave it 4 stars is the price does not include breakfast and there are some parts of the hotel that need TLC Overall it is a good place to stay as it is close to everything in battle

This hotel is simply disgusting and should not be open to human stays. - The shower was simply a tickle of lukewarm water - Advertise with a safe, there was no safe - Advertised as soundproof, the walls are paper thin - Our room was actually the fire escape route so on the door anybody could press a emergency exit button to get in - The bathroom was covered in mould and the towels were dirty - The bed had hairs in it - There were nails exposed from the floor and the carpet not joined together - Blood stains on the units - The rooms had the most disgusting smell Please, no not stay here!

It is what it is - a cheap hotel. But, really comfortable bed, great pillows, spacious bedroom and CLEAN. Staff are a bit shy but friendly... and they don’t bite!
