Overall a great experience. My boyfriend and I went here as our first time flying out of the country. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Out of the entire resort we only came across one staff member who wasn’t the best. We would recommend this resort to anyone! The staff here is always happy and having a good time with the guests. The only negative is that the buffet food isn’t my absolute favorite but I am a picky eater and still found things to eat. Another negative is the guests who come to Punta Cana are mostly from Europe so there is a lot of smoking but that will happen at any resort, and the resort is not adults only although the only time children were noticeable to us were at the main pool. If you stay in the swim up bar pool or on the beach children aren’t that noticeable. The night time entertainment is geared towards children earlier on (before 8:30 i’d say) and then after that it becomes more dancing and singing for the adults. The resort was very clean and easy to navigate between the map you’re given upon check in and their app. Through the RIU app we were able to request more towels, room service, sheets changed, etc, all while at the pool or beach. At this resort you get a little bit of everything! I would compare this resort to a cruise on land. It’s very big with lots to do and see and you won’t regret staying here.

Just got back from The Bravaro after travelling with my husband and stepson. The first piece of advice I would give is, depending on your age range, upgrade to adults only ,that section is well worth it, we upgraded at the reception upon arrival and you can have the best of both worlds. The main pool is lively with a DJ and to be totally honest the pool area can get a bit untidy. The monticristo restaurant is the main one and does have a very basic dress code which is basically no wet pool clothes and of an evening, cover up to a respectable level. You don't need to book the a la carte restaurants, it's first come first serve. As for the staff attitude, 20% of them either don't want to be there or don't want you there, we were told under no uncertain terms by the bar tender in the sports bar that he didn't like the British and he made it totally clear that we weren't welcome in his eyes. When my family complained about his discrimination and racism toward us we were told by the bloke on reception ”he can't understand English so couldn't possibly have said it??” Which was a total smoke screen. There is definitely a dislike toward the British. Not all staff have this attitude but it does seem to be a problem amongst some. I think Riu should invest in placing some of their English staff there to see first hand the woeful attitude some of the Bravaro staff have . The rooms are big we never had any problems, the maid only cleaned the room 3 times in a week. I will say check inside you kettle, when I first wanted to use kettle in middle of night I didn't want to put light on incase of waking others so I shone my phone torch into the kettle only to see tiny tiny mites all over the tea area and in the kettle that scurried away from the torch. Needless to say we never used that area for the whole holiday and got tea coffee from the restaurant. I am in two minds if this hotel is 5 star but I think it's higher than a 4 so I reckon its the lower end of 5. As for the work on the hotel nearby being knocked down we never heard anything until the last day but even then it wasn't a problem as not that loud.

Arrived and had a speedy check in, porter took cases to our room which was 8004 slight musty smell on arrival but this soon cleared. Unusual layout with twin sinks in the main room, separate WC and large shower cubicle. Plenty of storage and loads of coat hangers. Drawers were wonky but still usable. Fridge with beer water and soft drinks. The toilet only flushed but would not flush again so a quick call to maintenance and this was sorted. A couple of times during our stay the maid had not been by 4, once we said leave the room and the second time she cleaned the room. Had to ring reception a couple if times for water as none was left. On the last day it looks like the maid took.tje plastic travel cups that we had with our kettle, spoke to reception about this but not resolved. There was the main restaurant and several others on site. We were told that the only restaurant bookable for evening mail was the steak restaurant, someone we spoke to queued nearly one hour to make a reservation we did not want to do this. We tried the Italian one night which seemed the same food at lunch time. We tried the Mexican a couple of times but there were oberv20 people in front of us waiting so we did not try again. The food I thought was adequate but not outstanding. A couple of times I struggled due to my onion allergens allergy to certain fish The complex itself wax very spacious with two storey accommodation. One TUI exclusive pool and bar and several other pools. The TUO pool wax very nice but I felt excluded more than anything. All the daytime entertainment was catered to the Soanish speaking and was not translated to English. A couple we wrote talking to said they were going to play Bingo, the caller asked if anyone wax English and they put their hand up but the Bingo was still not called in English. I spoke to several different people in the airport who stopped t different hotels and advised the same. The drinks were OK but I found very limited choice. After travelling to a RUI resort last year to Jamaica found that the drinks choice and the food a lot better. I found the evening entertainment very poor. Had a duo or a single person singing again in Spanish with the entertainment team getting guests up to dance Salsa, etc, before and after the show for a longer period of time that the main entertainment was on. The main entertainment was enjoyable such as a Michael Jackson show, 60's 70's and 80's show, etc but felt they should have been on for longer. The RUI parties we did not attend but were in a separate area to the hotel. The beach and hotel are spectacular but do not think the English are catered for not only in this hotel but in Porta Cana. We did not do any of the excursions so cannot comment on these. TUI did a couple of free shopping excursions but walking g rouglnd a shopping area in the middle of the day for 2 hours did not interest me.
