Le Castel Guesthouse

We were 2 couples, two rooms. The home was very clean and spacious. We were able to park our car in the hotel grounds. Location was amazing with views of the cathedral from the bedroom. Lovely communal breakfast with plenty of variety from local products. Two nights stay and would definitely return

The pros: Great location as it is just two blocks away from the Place du Quebec (where the tours leave) Nice hostess Easy parking Rooms are big The cons: Breakfast is at 8 (though the tours leave at the same time). The hostess was gracious and opened the breakfast area earlier Third floor with no elevator, glad we are still able to carry Luggage upstairs Check in is from 5-8 PM. The bathroom shower didn’t drain well

We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed a wonderful stay. The room was well equipped and had a very large bathroom. Our hostess, Severine, was gracious and extremely welcoming. There are many restaurants very close by. It's a great location to visit D Day sites. Highly recommend this lovely place!

This is a charming B&B. I'm so glad we found it! The home is old but that's part of its charm. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. The host is charming and makes everyone welcome. The breakfast has a variety of options. It is across from the cathedral and a few blocks from the tapestry and the main street with cafes and shops. It was also a good starting point for visiting the D-day sites. There is no elevator which could be an issue for some. This should not be overlooked!

We stayed in the apartments they operate down the road. Our apt was on the 3rd floor and was very spacious. It was nice to finally have a large room to stay in while visiting France. We did not mind the walk up and down the stairs. We walked to Le Castel for breakfast in the main house. The breakfast was simple, but good. The location was perfect for getting around Bayuex - close to the cathedral, restaurants , shops, and the bus stop for the Normandy tour.

Severin is very welcoming and friendly (as is her mom that does the breakfast some mornings). Guesthouse is very clean. Severin even made us a birthday dinner booking for Honfleur, and made it clear it should be a nice table(which it was). Will easily stay again

Although the apartment I was assigned to was fine, it is not what I actually thought I signed up for. The website was a bit misleading as I looked at rooms listed under Guesthouse Le Castel and picked a room listed there. Apparently, all rooms - whether in Le Castle or their other property, were in this same area of the website. This may have become more apparent if the communication from the property was better. I had asked about parking and never got a reply (with my initial reservation). The confirmation did not mention that I was specifically going to be in Au Loup - it just said the address of both properties and since I selected my room under the Le Castel rooms section, I had no doubt that was were I would be staying. The morning of my arrival, I again asked about parking and maybe checking in before 3pm - no response; well, not until after 3pm and that was when the confirmation said Au loup (which I thought was located behind Le Castel). It was not where I wanted to be and I was very disappointed. And, the email said I could park on the street - but the street was filled with cars and I had to park about 2 blocks away. At this point, it was getting dark and I was alone so not happy to have to drag my suitcase that far. The apartment was hot with no instructions on how the thermostat worked. The window in the bathroom opened to the front of the building - so not secure if I left it open all night (and same with kitchen window). I didn't realize that I would have to cleaning, take out trash, etc. I thought I was going to get breakfast (as I thought I was in Le Castel). Also, wifi was horrible. If you want a self-contained apartment with poor wifi - then I'm sure Au Loup will work for your needs. It was NOT what I wanted or expected.

Le Castel Guesthouse is located in Bayeux downtown, few steps from the major attractions. The B&B is in a villa in Art Decò Style. The rooms are large and comfortable. We had the opportunity to park the car in the villa's parking lot for 11€ that was quite convenient. Breakfast served in the dining room at a common table for all guests was delicious. Bread , cheese , eggs . The landlady and her mother are welcoming and friendly. A single negative aspect the stairs. bring the suitcases to the second floor is quite tiring, The
