Find the Best Hotels Near Beach in Marseille

I booked this hotel in a rush, seeing a 4.5 rating on Ctrip. Environment: First of all, the hotel's location is very convenient, right in the old port, with a view of the pier from the window – the view is okay. Transportation is convenient, very close to the train station. The staff were very warm and attentive, five-star service. The following is for those who value cleanliness: The hotel's cleanliness was disappointing, which was my top priority for accommodation. The facilities did not match the price and four-star standard. For example, the wall materials in the room clearly needed replacement or renovation; they weren't just old, there was obvious dirt on the walls, which was very unpleasant to see while lying in bed. The hairdryer was heavily dusty. The toilet bowl had a yellowish tinge, making it unusable. The window faces the harbor, but the curtains offered virtually no light blocking. They were single-layered fabric in very bright colors, waking you up immediately.

I think the location is a plus, and the hotel staff provided good service. The breakfast was also good with a nice view, and the staff even helped prepare coffee. The bathroom was spacious, but many things were broken. The drain in my room had issues, sometimes leaking water all over the floor. The metal toilet paper holder next to the toilet suddenly fell off, which startled me. The shower screen had a faulty seal at the bottom, preventing it from closing properly. The bathroom lights also flickered constantly, suggesting unstable voltage. My colleague, who was traveling with me, had a broken AC in their room the first night and had to switch. The second night, the replacement room lost power in the middle of the night, forcing them to grope in the dark to switch rooms again. Compared to their experience, my issues seem minor.

The room was extremely spacious, and the bathroom was also very large. It was very comfortable to stay here. The location is excellent — just a few minutes’ walk to the old port. The only downside was the hot water situation: after one person showered in the evening, there was no hot water left, so the second person could not shower. This might be due to a limited hot water tank or the system stopping at a certain time. There were no staff on duty in the evening, so it was not possible to get assistance, and this issue was not mentioned before check-in.

We stayed for just one night as a family of four. This is a very beautiful and comfortable apartment near the Old Port. We were amazed at how so many amenities could be packed into such a relatively small space—among other things, it had a small oven and a dishwasher! Beautiful design, a wonderful terrace, and a charming dormer window on the second floor. Super-clean bathroom with fragrant toiletries. Our children said this was the best accommodation we had on our trip to the Côte d'Azur. Thank you!

The room was cleaned and the location was excellent, just in the old port. The house has a history of more than 200 years. The soundproofing of the room is average, breakfast is 14 euros, not bad. Except that, it is great. The front desk and customer service are very good and will help with luggage. There is water, orange juice and snacks at the front desk for free.

Cleaning ladies were demonstrating 53 days in front of the hotel when I arrived. The rotating door was covered with mud and confetti, while the black women danced to loud African beats. A complete shock! They continued during my stay… The front desk was super helpful after I contacted their manager. My flight was delayed and I arrived a day late so they managed to modify my reservation without extra payment. My card didn’t work so I gave a cash deposit and they sent me an email when my suitcase that had been delayed arrived (so as not to wake me up). The housekeeping was average- twice they didn’t restock the water. Once they forgot a cleaning chemical. Another time they didn’t restock the decaffeinated capsules. Also they could have been more generous with the toilet paper. It’s the very thin recycled one, that goes fast. Breakfast was delicious and the restaurant spacious, with a garden overlooking the marina. The room was large, modern and quiet, with an amazing view of the harbor, including both sunsets and sunrises! I even saw the incredible half an hour long fireworks for Bastille day right under my window! The bed is big and comfortable, pillows a bit too soft, lighting is good but there are no toiletries (which was initially problematic due to the lost luggage). Room service wasn’t available the only night that I wanted to order it - due to Bastille day celebrations. The QR code don’t work on my phone so I had to call the reception to order. Also there was no alcoholic drinks listed, plus I had no fridge in the room, so I couldn’t fully relax and enjoy my holiday. The hotel doesn’t have a spa, which is a shame. So I made a reservation online and got a massage in the Hammam spa a few minutes from the hotel)very expensive and not great). The closest one to the hotel was closed. The pool is gorgeous but in another building which requires another elevator to be taken at the ground floor. A bit of a hassle…The gym is basic but good. Gets pretty busy and dirty at the end of the day. There are many nice restaurants nearby and even a small Proxi shop. There is a bus stop 1min away, that goes to the Terrace du Port. And the taxi conveniently dropped me off right in front of the hotel. The Mucem and Cosquer caves visible from the hotel, are a bit pleasant 25min walk away and the well worth the visit. Overall, I was satisfied with my stay, and would come again if the above issues were resolved.

During this trip, I was fortunate enough to choose this hotel as my resting place, and it certainly gave me an unforgettable stay. First of all, the check-in process is extremely convenient. I arrived at the hotel a full two hours ahead of the expected check-in time, but the front desk staff did not the slightest inconvenience or evasion, but in a very warm attitude for me to check in quickly. Secondly, the room itself is large and comfortable to live in, and offers a wide variety of kitchenware and cutlery. All in all, convenient check-in, warm service, comfortable room, a perfect experience beyond expectations!

Location is good, close to metro, have restaurants and supermarket nearby. Room is clean and spacious, and there is kitchen facilities that you can prepare meals. Staff are helpful. The downside is, the bed (mattress) is hollow (curved) not comfortable; and our room seems to have some odors (like sewage) from time to time.

This place is very basic and I feel like I overpaid given my experience. First it is close enough to a dance club that you can hear the music and patrons. In my case that was until 5:15 am when I got up for an early morning train. The shower is handheld and not mounted to the wall so it is a bit like bathing with a hose. No working elevator and the stairs were not built evenly so walking up and down them risks a fall or turned ankle. The thing this place has going for it is it’s proximity to the marina and it is a reasonable walk from the train station.
