This is the first time I write a review while still being a guest at the hotel, lets start with the good things. The hotel has an excellent location, nice and newly renovated rooms and friendly staff. Breakfast was fine and had good variety as well. However, the upsetting part is that the bad things exceed the good ones. The hotel has a very loud bar/club on the ground floor and plays loud music even on weekdays until late at night, the loud music can be heard in the room. The bed isn’t comfortable, the one I had was used a lot probably and had an inside curve in the middle. The room service menu says that it’s available until 11 pm. However, if you try calling them after 10 pm nobody answers as the kitchen closes at 10 pm but its not written anywhere. They also charge for getting you tap water!! The reception desk, although they say its a 24hours desk, they wouldn’t pick up the phone if you call them after 10 pm. Once I asked for a fork at 10:15 pm the receptionist had to check if room service team would accept as the kitchen had already closed. And had to call the reception twice to get hold of them. The parking garage is operated by a third party, its very small and has probably spaces for 20-25 cars. So most probably it always full, in my case, the hotel staff asked me to go park my car in another public parking garage and walk back to the hotel. The housekeeping team doesn’t clean the room properly, I had hair in the bathroom and the shower drainage is blocked. I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights, this night is my last and I keep getting disappointed every night. I think the hotel has to offer better services and quality. You even have to greet the receptionist as they would answer by hello rather than “good evening” or “how can we help?” But that’s not important anyways. For the price I paid, I expected much better services from this hotel. I would definitely come back to Bergen, but never to this hotel, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Its not a 5 star hotel according to the global standards. I wouldn’t even give it 3 stars.

I recently enjoyed a 3-night stay at Hotel No.13 in Bergen. While my room lacked windows, it was comfortable and cleaned daily, making it a pleasant place to return to after a day of travel. The absence of a window didn't bother me much, as I spent most of my time exploring the city. The check-in and check-out staff were notably friendly and helpful, which added to the overall positive experience. The daily breakfast included in my rate was basic.
What truly stands out is the hotel's convenient location which is near Byparken Station and walkable distance to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Bryggen one of the most popular tourist attractions in Norway. It is a historic wharf with colorful wooden houses dating back to the 14th century.

Things are different! We found a two bed room is really more like a room with a king bed. Well, OK, but not what we expected. The room was quite small, but worked pretty well. There is a metal frame that serves as a place to hang clothing, several shelves so you can put clothing out, but no drawer storage. There was a TV, you could make coffee/tea in the room (if you wanted). Biggest surprise: the bathroom was fully suitable for an RV. I could touch wall to wall with my outstretched arms. The shower was the size of half a phone booth. The sink was about 10X14 inches. Tiny, but it worked. The room was overlooking the Bergen Visitor Info Center and Fish Market. One night there were a lot of revelers. Otherwise it was quiet. Breakfast was a buffet, with some hot items, and the usual cold cuts, cheese, breads. Some fruit. The coffee machines are fine when they work, but it seems that guests are pretty hard on them and they were not always available. We were joining a cruise, but at the last minute learned we had to delay our arrival several hours due to harbor congestion. We spent the extra time, with our luggage and kindles in the hotel's small lobby. The staff made us welcome, and assisted us with a taxi when we were finally able to depart.

Stayed when: August 2022 - 5 nights, party of 4 (booked a corner suite which comprised 2 rooms with a common entrance) Location: Excellent; key areas/attractions were walking distance (10 minute walk from train station) Rooms: The first room was large whereas the 2nd room was quite small. Not sure if the bed in the 2nd room would qualify as a double bed. The rooms are nicely done up. Breakfast: Good breakfast. However hot beverages such as cappuccino etc not part of the breakfast package. Have to be paid for separately. Not an issue but found it strange/petty for a hotel like this. Gym: Small but functional. Gives the impression that not much thought has gone into it. Two issues - first was lack of ventilation and second was no drinking water available Service: While the staff was polite and helpful, we faced some service issues. The lock on the main door to the corner suite (leading up to the 2 rooms) was not working. Despite requesting the reception staff several times to have it fixed, the problem was not solved. In the end, we gave up and just kept the doors to the two rooms locked (which somewhat defeated the objective of getting a corner suite). Also, were surprised to see the rooms hadn’t been cleaned one day. Found out the rooms are not serviced daily unless one puts up the room service sign on the door. We should have been informed of this at the time of check-in. Other: We had the windows open for ventilation during the night. As a result, our sleep was disturbed all the nights because of noise from outside (saw lots of college students all over Bergen who would be partying late into the night / early morning). Overall: Nice, charming hotel. While we had no major complaints, unlikely we will consider this hotel again because of the above service/small issues.

The service at this hotel is topnotch. We ended up staying in one of the cheaper rooms which was on the smaller side of things, but everything was a great experience. Everyone has mentioned the great breakfast (and it is), but they also have fantastic comfortable beds, Chromecast, wifi, and very clean bedrooms/bathrooms. Again, I'd like to commend the service again. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, packed an early morning breakfast for us when we were going to leave early, and had recommendations on the best things to do (and how to save a couple of bucks if needed). Location is fantastic! You are a very short walk from the fish market and the tourist area. Additionally, there is a grocery store right across the street (eating out in Norway can be pricey) along with a small shopping center about a block away. The funicular to the top of the surrounding mountains is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. If you're looking for affordable bites to eat there is a gyro cafe not far from there and a great Burmese restaurant. If you're trying to get there from the airport, it will cost you between $50-$70 via taxi (approx. 25 mins) or $8-10 via train (approx. 45 - 55 mins from what I could tell). The buses in town and the surrounding areas are clean, very timely, and easy to use. However, you'll want to have downloaded the app ahead of time to make using them easier.

Facilities: Very new. Connecting family rooms, usually two single rooms, combined into a family room with two bedrooms and a small living room when needed, so there are two bathrooms, very convenient.
Hygiene: Clean
Environment: Very close to Bergen Fish Market and hot dog stand, only a few minutes away
Service: Very good
Remember the appearance of the hotel. When we were looking for the hotel with our luggage on the first day, we passed by the hotel several times and thought it was a Japanese restaurant because the hotel sign at the door was too small. And when I booked the hotel a month ago, there were no photos of the hotel's appearance on Ctrip because the hotel was under renovation.
Rich breakfast.

I like this place where I can cook. I eat a lot and eating in restaurants in Norway is too expensive. Supermarkets are nearby so buying foods is convenient. Room has a dish washer but I don’t know how to use. Near a lake and near train station. Cleanliness is so so. Price is good. Bed is next to the heater and curtains are on the heater. Not sure if it will burn so I put curtains on the wall. Good hot shower. They only provide a hand washing liquid bottle in the bathroom. Bring your own toiletries.

We arrived late evening and had to wait in the lobby for a good 40 minutes because the key system did not work. I felt bad for the receptionist that became so stressed he was swearing and saying sorry to us multiple times. He offered my man a bottle of water as it was included in the membership but we would have appreciated Mabe a glass of water for me as vell. After getting another employe to help out they got us to the room. Both very helpful and stressed. These things can happen we understand. The room had a view over the harbor and was clearly at the old part of the hotel not like the pictures of the hotel. Very high ceilings, but very dark. Not a lot of lighting in the room. The glasses in the room was dirty with lipstick stains so we had to take another trip down to the front desk. The bed was inviting even tho it was two single beds and not a double witch we expectedly have booked. Plus for robes and slippers. The bathroom was also old and it was very hard to find a livable temperature in the shower. Eigther super warm or freezing. Wee needed to sleep with the window open because of the room was quite warm and not well conditioned. The breakfast was ok, not really what I expected for a clarion hotel but I found options to my likings. The breakfast staff was nice. The best thing about the hotel was the location but all in all we will be choosing one of the other hotels in the city center the next time.

The key is excellent, in the middle of the mountain, the traffic is very convenient, the breakfast is very good, the staff is very warm, the facilities are complete, the public space is large, the only problem is that the sheets and quilts are charged, even in Norway, it is not common, and the other city is not charged, but there is a saying, The environment and breakfast are really good.

Excellent
GGuest UserSuper friendly pre-coming staff and check in at 13:00. nearly family atmosphere. The beds are OK and the rooms are simple and not too warm. The hotel is not even 2 minutes from arrival. With the tram you get every 10 minutes for just 3.90 euros per journey to the city centre. Please return immediately. Mountain is great!
BBikThe location is average, but the breakfast is excellent for 10 minutes. There are a variety of salmon, freshly baked bread, and even a dessert (sweet). A rare mushroom to eat, different hot drinks are available! Praise Light dinner can, because there is no need to pay extra, don't have great expectations, it is absolutely acceptable! In summary, the price is 10 points high.
GGuest UserWas greeted by a very nice receptionist when I checked in. He saw that I was a member of their chain and offered me the benefits it provides. Then gave the information I needed and explained the way to the elevator. All with kindness and a big smile. It gave a very good start to a good stay. Asked at check in for room with view and high up. I got it in room 616 which had a balcony. I think most rooms do not have a balcony or that view. So a tip is to ask and if they are available, you will get enough. The room was clean. And that's the most important thing for me. Not very big and the bathroom was even smaller. But it is more than enough for two people visiting this city. Even though the room is clean, it appears to be somewhat worn over time. You can see it on the scraped panel stove, scraper and other things on the walls, the bedding has some smaller holes and is worn (but comfortable to sleep in). When there are better times for the hotel industry, it would not cost much to raise the standard a little. Breakfast has everything you need, but does not appear very exciting. You can see there are some measures taken that raise it from basic, and there is a lot of staff at work. But it's a long way up to the city's best breakfast and there is constantly empty for some products during the breakfast. Then it is important to know that the Comfort hotels at Nordic Choice Hotels are the most affordable. I have often stayed in Quality hotels in the past and the standard is one notch or two up. So for what you pay here for the rooms with breakfast it is very good value! And the very best value here is those who work here. Whether it is night guards, cleaners or others. There are always positive answers if you want something. And accompanying smile. Otherwise there is a bar here if you wish. And from Bybanen it may be around 10-15 minutes to walk. So it is centrally located in Bergen. Can definitely recommend this hotel for the price against the standard one gets.
GGuest UserI have not had the opportunity to stay in this hotel booked through trip .com: I contacted them this morning to get information about the size of the bed in the room and the operator who answered me did not find my reservation even though I communicated the number booking form and my name and surname I informed her that I would cancel the reservation as I could not risk arriving in Bergen and finding myself without accommodation and she told me to do so and make a new reservation through Booking.com Too bad that on Booking the price was exactly double: perhaps they wanted to sell the room at a higher price to the detriment of the customer I would say bad
GGuest UserWe stayed one night. Staff are all very helpful. The rooms comfortable and breakfast was all we needed. A good quiet atmosphere and well situated but not at the correct harbour for our cruise, but good for wandering around and just near the funicular railway for excellent views of this area. Taxi fares like everything here in Norway 2-3 times typical UK price.
GGuest UserStayed for a weekend at this hotel with my family. My wife, myself and a 2 year-old. First impression was excellent. Nice standard, spacy rooms, well equipped, and so on. Nothing to complain about regarding the room standard. Breakfast was also fine, plenty of things to choose between. It was only when we returned the next night our complaints arose. We arrived by car in the hotel garage, with a sleeping child. Already in the garage we heard the noise from the party/event upstairs. The only route from the garage to the hotel rooms was to make our way through the bar and the ongoing party. That is poor planning of infrastructure in my opinion. Of course our sleeping child awoke to the excess loudness of the music, and we had to «snake our way» through the crowd of loud and drunk people. We eventually made our way to the room, and even though it was situated at the third floor, the noise was ever present in our room (our room was even facing outward, not toward the core of the hotel). Don’t know if that’s because of ventilation or because of the architecture of the building (which leaves the roof open over the reception/bar area all the way up to the top floor). So even though a lot of things at this hotel is done adequately, this second night experience (and thereof lack of sleep) ruined our stay. We certainly feel that it was not worth the money, and wouldn’t recommend it to families (at least not when the hotel is having events / during weekends). (In all fairness: we didn’t make a formal complaint to the reception as it was not an option to opt for a new room (arrived late, and packing and moving with a tired toddler is not optimal). And neither did we see any chance of the hotel shutting down an event due to a single complaining customer.)
GGuest UserAmazing location, great for seeing very touristy attractions in Bergen, but also local houses and hiking trails as well. The hotel was simple and very clean. This hotel provided a nice and quiet place to sleep. There's a grocery store right across the street, stop in and get some Freia chocolate before bed!
VVeraViktogood hotel close to the city center and next to the train and bus station, walking distance to all major attractions. also a 3-minute walk to public transport stops. The rooms are small but clean and have everything you need. especially want to write about breakfast - very good breakfast. and pastries and yoghurts, cheeses, meats, fish, fresh vegetables and fruits. dishes from eggs, a hot breakfast is being prepared. rating 5+. I recommend the hotel.
XXiang he heThe breakfast are so delicious!!Also, the survey are very great ,we are from the UK and need the transfer charge line, they are happy to help us and when I got sick they helped me to find the medicines shop!!It gives me a very great impression about the city!I love the people lived here and I enjoy here so much! Thanks for give me wonderful memories ❤️
GGuest UserThe hotel was located right in the center of Bergen.
Although there was reception staff we had to pick up the hotel key in a box another time (went well but was a bit strange I think).
In the hallway itself there was a slightly strange smell. But the room itself was perfectly fine.
There is a lot to do in the center of Bergen if you want it. Lots of dining areas / bars etc.
We did not get breakfast there due to. we woke up today (May 17), which in Norway is considered a Sunday. Then they did not have breakfast there. So we had to take another place.
What was minus it was that they did NOT have luggage storage there. So there the hotel has something they need to fix right away.
