This is a very nice Place to stay, location and building are great. The personal were very friendly only a lady from the kitchen who was annoyed that some guests couldn't hear her low voice in the middle of a crowd of people in the restaurant hall.

The overall location is very convenient. There is a subway station right outside the door. It is also very close to the city center. You can reach any place you want within 3-5 kilometers.

See the criticism below. You buy a room to work on laptops and a group of strangers packs into the room. Give this place a wide berth. Of course I could have had a different room because of this. But then why and why does the reception pack people into our rooms? He could have moved them to another room. I think theft is common there.

Trip with a school class. Hostel is in an old building and has basic, but appropriate comfort. I've been to a lot of German Jugendherbergen with similar or even less comfort... The rooms were quite clean and rather silent, except for car noise from the main street below - and of course some heat (both was to be expected in Berlin during summer...). Note: Linen for dorms is not included. CCTV on all corridors, we felt perfectly secure. Helpfull and friendly staff.

Having paid £180 for a three person room, I was taken aback on arrival to be asked for a further €5 pp in cash “for linen”. As it was 1am, I just paid it as I wasn’t thinking straight. I’ve never heard of such a thing. Would the staff have removed the pillow cases and bedsheets if I hadn’t paid? Complete audacity and barefaced scam. While the bed was fine enough, the breakfast was grim as hell - the sense of being in a bomb proof building with reinforced steel doors and an ancient lift from a horror film failed to add charm. I wouldn’t recommend this place under any circumstances.

This place is actually as bad as all of the reviews say it is. It is dirty and loud. Doors bang all night long. They say there is a quiet rule after 10pm however that is certainly not the case. The food is vile, poor quality and served cold. The bathrooms were not even cleaned. Security bang on doors trying to get guests to be quiet. It is scary and unnerving.

Room was small, picture was on bed but reallity were two beds, limitted space for luggage. Reception people were friendly. Breakfast was good, standard. The area has low restaurants so difficult to have a desent meal.

from the onset there was a grungy horrible vibe but all other hostels were full so I had to stay, and what a bad decision that was!! these people scammed me out of 200 euro saying I smoked in the room when I didnt, made me wait outside all night for my back pack back which they said until I payed the euros I wouldn't be able to have it back at all. the man made a complete scene and carried it throughout the night, avoid at all costs

I have considerable experience staying in hostels but have never felt as unsafe as I did here. Filled with ne’er-do-wells and a general prison-like sense of doom. The bathroom is filthy and dimly lit. One morning we saw blood stains on the floor outside it. We booked an 8-person room and were given a 10-person and made to pay a linen charge, but the linen somehow disappeared off my bed after the first night and my partner found hair on her sheets. Other guests’ linen disappeared entirely and slept on their beds without any sheets, despite having paid the charge. Checkin was a horrific experience. Rude, incompetent staff who tried to rip us off buying bottled water. The rooms have one socket between 8 (or 10) so if you want to charge your phone you must go to the common area where the seats are dirty and crumby and other suspicious-looking ‘guests’ gather at night. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy. Please spare yourself the trauma and frustration and book anywhere else in Berlin. The staff talked about us in front of us in German, but I felt so unsafe there both personally and for my belongings I did not say anything.

Ok a hostel, but in 4 days they don't change your towels, let's not even talk about the sheets. Visual impact of the room, poor, cobwebs in the room, and poor cleanliness. Breakfast?? Let's leave it at that... The only positive note is the location. In front of the metro stop.

The location is prime. Directly at Mehringdamm subway station, several bus connections on the doorstep. Kreuzberg with the Bergmannkiez, the Kreuzberg, the Marheinekehalle more or less right in front of the door, Curry 36, Mustafa right next door, DoldenMädel, beer shop, distillery and much more can be reached in 5 minutes. The hostel is just a hostel. You shouldn't have too many expectations. But they were all fulfilled. We were able to get a 6-bed room with 3 people for ourselves, which was great. It was clean, including the bathroom. Sure, the mirror hangs low, the shower curtain instead of the shower cubicle is more 80s, but: it's just a hostel. There is an elevator, security, it was quiet at night, you don't experience that everywhere. I would book it again at any time.

Overall, youth hostel in the truest sense of the word. We had booked a room in 6-bed mixed dormitories and ended up in an 8-bed room. Fortunately there were only 7 of us and we shared the room with very quiet young girls and a gentleman. So we spent 2 good nights without unexpected awakenings. I think the night can be completely different depending on the people in the room. Comfortable sheets and pillows It was very hot Clean toilet and shower. Well stocked and correct breakfast. We wouldn't stay there for 5 nights but for one or two nights, it's great. Well located: at the entrance to the Merringdam metro and at the bottom is the Durum, the best in Berlin (we confirm, 3 hours of queues are worth it)
