This place is a dump, and management is extremely rude and inhospitable for a business that is in the hospitality industry. We booked Unit 14 for a Saturday and Sunday night. When we arrived on Saturday afternoon, the unit had a strong odor that was giving us headaches and making my 70 year-old mother-in-law nauseous. We assumed the smell was from extra cleaning because of Covid, opened the windows to ventilate the unit and went out to do some outdoor activities in Big Bear. Wrong! The smell wasn’t from cleaning; it was from bug spray to try to kill the ants that we later discovered all over the kitchen, downstairs bedroom and living room. In addition to the ant problem, the water in the pool was drained (which was not disclosed on their website or Booking.com), multiple light bulbs were out, there were screens missing in several windows, one of the beds had a crater indented into the mattress that made it virtually impossible to sleep in, the TV remote did not work and the air conditioner literally spit out icicles during the night. Overall, the unit was dated (not in a good way) and run down. We weren’t expecting the Ritz Carlton, but we did expect it to be clean, free of bugs, with a working TV and light bulbs, and a beds that could be slept in. We could have dealt with the other issues, but the ants and lingering smell of bug spray were a deal breaker. Unfortunately, because we had been out enjoying ourselves during the afternoon and evening, we did not realize the extent of the ant problem until after 8 p.m. We called the front desk and spoke with Mandy. She was not at all surprised and did not deny that they had sprayed for ants before our arrival. In fact, admitting that there were major issues with our unit, Mandy offered to cancel our reservation for a full refund. She pointed out, however, that because it was a Saturday night, we might have trouble finding somewhere else to stay. She was right. We went online and called around to a few places, but couldn’t find anywhere else to stay on Saturday night (there were 7 of us – me, wife, four kids and grandma – so we would have needed at least two rooms). Because we could not find another hotel, Mandy gave us the option of staying on Saturday but cancelling and getting a refund for our second night. Since we didn’t have any other options, we decided to stay on Saturday and cancel the second night of our reservation. We were expecting to get a refund for at least half the amount we paid, since we had only stayed one night, and because of all of the issues with the unit. Instead, Bear Creek only refunded us $270 out of a $740 booking. So basically, they charged us $470 to stay one night in an ant-infested, bug-spray-smelling, run down dump of a cabin. For the past several days we have been fighting with Bear Creek to get a half refund (we should be asking for a full refund), and can’t believe the way we’ve been treated. On Sunday, Mandy basically told us we we

The lady that checked us in was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. She had also called us earlier in the day to ask when we'd be arriving, just in case we were coming in after the office closed. We were very pleased when we walked into our king room and saw the huge fireplace and cabin decor. We found it to be clean and equipped with a mini frig and microwave. The down side for us was the very high bed which made it difficult to get into for our ”senior” bodies as well as the hard mattress with thin pillows. While some people may like a firm bed, we both woke up with back aches. There was some significant road noise early on, but it did die off to almost nothing by 10pm which ultimately resulted in a peaceful night. We were in room 2 . The shower was pretty small and the drain had a screw that stuck up above the tile floor. It was very difficult to not step on that area while showering and really needs to be fixed before someone rips their foot open.

We spent one night in a lake front room. We had pretty low expectations because so many people wrote horrible reviews, but it was a clean room, looked the same as the pictures. Having a fireplace was awesome. The fridge was great to have. Our balcony looked at the lake and it snowed overnight and it was such a delight to wake up to snow on the balcony. Bathroom was a-ok, except the tub seemed to have stains on it, it should probably be repainted and the shower water pressure was really poor, so the filters probably need to be changed. Beds were comfortable, pillows were fine. The front office was really nice. The coffee and breakfast was fine, pre-packaged pastries, cereal, coffee, OJ, milk, could use more protein so children don't lose their minds after breakfast. Parking was easy. Because of the snow and ice the walkways were pretty slippery, I would recommend for safety that they clear and salt everything so no one risks falling. Overall a really great stay with fine accommodations and a couple of things they could do to improve the overall experience. Thanks!

Big Bear Village
Small hotel 5 minutes walking to the village, right across the bowling Barn, walking distance to the village, a little noisy from the cars on the road but nothing big deal(no that many cars at night time anyways) Room#110: Large cozy room with refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, heater toilet seat, nice size T.V. The front desk has some coffee, tea, granola bars, pancakes maker(no mix), toaster(no bread), massage sofa, small pool table, fireplace, some utensils. For the price, I think is a great place to stay, great location with walking distance to the shops. It is big bear where most of the places are super small and expensive. I will definitely come back. Remember is Big Bear where you go to enjoy the snow, the village or the lake not to stay in your room.

Breakfast is simpler with coffee and desserts. The surrounding environment is very good. This town is a tourist-oriented town, skiing in spring and winter, fishing in summer. Come from Los Angeles, all the way to the mountain road, have the opportunity to see the clouds and wonders

Big Bear Village
I’ve been visiting Big Bear for many years but have always rented houses with friends. When my husband and I decided to go up just the two of us, we took a chance on booking a hotel room for the first time. We expected the accommodations to be somewhat older because much of Big Bear is that way, but our room exceeded our expectations. Our Standard King room with fireplace was spacious, extremely clean, well equipped (microwave, mini fridge, silverware, coffee maker and mugs), and all for a reasonable price. We will be coming here any time we need just a room instead of renting a house.
