We’ve been staying at this hotel since the first weekend they were open. As Diamond Members, we’ve always been upgraded to a suite, if one was available, as per the standard rewards offered to Diamond members. Our most recent visit was very different. We booked a standard room, as we always do, hoping to get our upgrade. Upon arrival, it was obvious that the hotel wasn’t full, but upon requesting our upgrade at the desk, we were informed that they don’t offer upgrades, but I could buy an upgrade for $80. We opted not to do this since we could have stayed at several other hotels along the coast that are just as nice, for $75 less than we had already paid. The gulf view suites are pretty much the only thing that makes it worth it to stay here, as the hotel is well into Biloxi. Special events like Cruisin’ The Coast have been pushed out of Biloxi, so the location is no longer convenient to that sort of thing. We also were not offered our meal vouchers, as per the standard rewards offered to Diamond Members. So this will be our last stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, and I’m considering shifting all of our future stays over to Marriott. Diamond membership is worthless here. I don’t understand why Hilton keeps their name on the property and offers bookings when the membership isn’t even acknowledged.
