The Crown Inn

We had an excellent stay, thank you very much. Such lovely, friendly staff. Our room was very comfortable, ideal for our small family. Very comfortable room. Dinner and breakfast were fabulous. Best steak pie I have ever had! Nidderdale is a very beautiful location. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed at the crown whilst in Uppingham for work. Couldn’t have been happier. It’s what I would call a ‘proper’ pub where people have conversations whilst enjoying a drink in the relaxed atmosphere. In the heart of Uppingham ( somewhere I have never been before), a beautiful, historic, and interesting town. Evening meal, fabulous. Breakfast, fabulous, served by a young Lady who couldn’t do enough for you. The room was ok, very rustic and charming, and absolutely in keeping with the building and area, a good nights sleep was had, overlooking the pretty much silent high street during the small hours. If I am ever in the area again I will choose the Crown

Just eaten at The Crown, what an improvement the new chef has made! Great menu selection. We had a chicken burger and a beef burger, two fillets of panko coated chicken, thick juicy beef burger, skin on crispy fries, homemade coleslaw and excellent quality relishes. Well worth the price and the service from Dylan was great.

Popped in for an evening meal. The pub was busy and it was a shame as a number of items were not available on the evening. Food was OK ish whilst service was a little slow - in fairness, there were only 2 staff there on the evening. Quite a noisy place.

We stayed for 1 night as a couple with 2 dogs and travelled for 6 hours from Scotland. Room 4 was the room we were given ……. dirty room, broken lock on door, stained carpet and wallpaper peeling off the wall. Outside our room in the hall there were several bags piled to the ceiling full of wet and dirty towels and linen. The smell was awful. Downstairs in the bar and the outside area for sitting could do with being cleaned. Overall the price of £115/night was definitely not worth it and we will not be returning. Definitely not to be recommended.

Awful I went in for dinner my pizza was burnt another one came out raw there was a dark hair on the pizza . The chef had no beard or hair net on and was sat outside smoking . I gave the crown another go and they missed half my order for food and when I spoke to them about it they just said the chef had gone home

We went here for pizzas on the Saturday before Christmas. We had booked a table. Despite it being incredibly busy (there was a band playing later in the evening) all the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Our drinks and pizzas came quite quickly. The food was hot and very tasty - lovely crispy base and delicious toppings.

We visited uppingham last week and took the opportunity to visit the crown for drinks and dinner. We enjoyed the atmosphere in the pub with good service and their revised menu. The food was great and we will definitely be visiting again in our next trip to the area.

The crown had amazing food! My husband had the onion gravy on his sausage and mash and said the best he had ever had! Lovely staff lovey service. We would definitely go back again and next time I will have the sausage and mash. Can’t wait to go again. Would highly recommend to family and friends.
