GGuest UserPerfect 3-Day Business Stay during NIFF 2026 – Tulsi Kathmandu Hotel 🇳🇵 Stayed 3 days at Tulsi Kathmandu Hotel during the Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF 2026), and it turned out to be an excellent base for a business-focused trip. Location Very central in Thamel, within walking distance to key areas, restaurants, and festival venues. Ideal when the city is busy due to events like NIFF (held April 2–6, 2026 in Kathmandu). (The Film Nepal) Rooms & Facilities The hotel is brand new (opened 2026), with modern, clean, and well-designed rooms. Strong Wi-Fi, desk space, and quiet environment made it suitable for work between meetings. (Tripadvisor) Service Staff is consistently described as very friendly, attentive, and professional. Check-in and support were smooth, even during high-traffic festival days. (Tripadvisor) Business Suitability - Reliable internet - Comfortable workspace in-room - Central access to venues - Calm atmosphere despite busy surroundings Food & Amenities Good mix of Nepali and international cuisine, rooftop terrace, and convenient airport transfer options. (***********) Overall A strong choice for short business stays during major events like NIFF. Combines boutique comfort with practical functionality. Rating: 5/5 Best for: Business travelers, short stays, festival visits Would recommend and would book again.

FFishtail7Located within walking distance to the Buddha Stupa, this hotel is in a convenient location yet in a quiet corner near the stupa. The service is great and the staff are very helpful and hospitable. The highlight is there’s a ******* Buddhism Monastery right in the hotel’s yard, and guests can do free yoga course every morning inside the monastery which is a big plus.

GGuest UserA fantastic hotel with beautiful architecture and wooden detailing. Incredibly friendly and accommodating staff. Free yoga in the morning on the rooftop and a walking tour is provided upon request. The rooms are large with lots of light. The bathroom is functional with good water pressure. For winter, an electric blanket, portable heater and hot water bottles are supplied. Delicious and well priced breakfast. Amazing value for money.

GGuest UserThe Hotel Barahi Kathmandu is in a great location, walking distance to great souvenirs in Thamal, tourist sites like the Garden of Dreams and the former Royal Palace. The hotel staff were so friendly, engaging and helpful. The hotel has a pool up on level 7 with great views of Kathmandu. The only flaw with the pool is it is surrounded by the restaurant, so no one swims in it. I had a suite the room was beautiful, very happy with the cleanliness and room service. The only flaw with the room is that it backed on to the service area for staff who were all working very hard, but there was banging and clanging all night and morning.

小苏在努力This hotel is quite good, very new, and has a swimming pool with an excellent environment. The room service is great, always available when called. However, the breakfast is very average, comparable to what you'd find in a basic domestic setting. But for just over 500 RMB, it's not expensive, so I recommend staying here. There aren't many food options nearby, and it's mostly a local residential area, but the overall environment is still very pleasant. There's also a gym, and the rooftop bar is particularly relaxing, being an open-air terrace.

NNenanMy flight arrived in Kathmandu at 10 PM, and immigration took forever, so I didn't get out of the airport until almost 11 PM. I had emailed the hotel in advance to request an airport pick-up. I honestly thought no one would be there given how late it was and the lack of a contact number, but I saw my name card among the crowd waiting for cars at the exit. As a first-time visitor, this was such a pleasant and heartwarming surprise! The car took me to the hotel, which is located in the bustling, central Thamel area. Right downstairs, there's a 'Chengdu Skewers' restaurant. The hotel itself is one of the tallest buildings in the vicinity and boasts a glass-enclosed restaurant on the 12th-floor rooftop, with a pool and spa on the 11th floor – quite a bold design! Breakfast was good, and the service was attentive. The location is convenient; a rickshaw takes just 6 minutes to Durbar Square. The room size was adequate, but I was a bit disappointed to only get a room on the 4th floor after requesting a high-floor room. Also, the bathroom had a strong, foul odor that permeated the room even with the bathroom door closed. This backflow smell seems to be related to the plumbing and hygiene and definitely needs improvement. Other than that, everything else was great!

GGuest UserThe room made a decent first impression and did the bare minimum. But, it quickly became clear that it’s best suited for a very short stay. The bed was comfortable enough. Overall, the room is fine if you’re just passing through, but anything longer starts to feel like stretching it. Staff presence around the hotel was limited. They clearly run on a lean operation, which can go either way. The guard in front of the elevator stood out in the best possible way and added a genuinely warm, human touch, which helped balance things out. At check-in, I was given two complimentary cocktail coupons for the upstairs bar, which immediately lifted my spirits. This was a place I had enjoyed many times before and often recommended to friends and family. I had good memories of the atmosphere, the food, and the general vibe, so I went in with high hopes. In the past I had written raving 5-star reviews of their restaurant food and amazing service! Unfortunately, the experience that followed didn’t live up to those expectations. What should have been a simple, enjoyable night out unraveled into confusion and unwelcoming interactions. Small moments piled up, the mood shifted, and it became clear that the experience had gone off the rails. Rather than force it, my group and I decided to take our time and money elsewhere. Sometimes you read the room and move on. I returned to the hotel later that night and stayed over. Took a hot shower in the morning, loved the smell of their body wash, btw! Another brief interaction during checkout reinforced the same theme: rigid, abrupt, and lacking the kind of hospitality that makes guests feel welcome. All in all, it’s disappointing to see a place I once enjoyed and freely recommended lose its consistency and warmth. I’m no longer comfortable recommending it, and I’m not sure I would choose to return. As for the unused cocktail coupon, I still have it. Any takers?

AAnonymous UserLocation is alright, there’s occasional cockroaches running past you when you are in the room, cleanliness has a lot to improve on. Worst part is that I booked a single room and was given a room next to the elevator with a window without curtain, anyone tall enough would be able to look into my room and everything in it, to add on to that, the room was next to the elevator and you can hear every footstep and noise/chat coming from the corridor, and when the elevator moves, there’s this super unnecessary music that runs with it so you would get a sense of that throughout the day and night. When I went to the receptionist to ask for a different room, she told me there’s no other rooms available and I have to pay an extra 1500 rupee to upgrade to a different room, that amount, adding with the original I paid for- would already be much higher than a standard deluxe room. Obviously she and the hotel was trying to scam me by leveraging on giving a super lousy room at first. Even though they eventually agreed to change room for me at no charge, I was honestly traumatised by this hotel and was uncomfortable through the stay. Then at check-out in the next morning, the guy was reluctant to let me go asking if I had already paid and making calls to confirm about it. Overall there’s surely better rooms for similar price in Thamel, so do try to skip this hotel unless you like some good memorable reasons to spoil your trip.

MMatthew1122The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and the service, as well as the food is excellent. The rooms however, are very old and small (we were able to change rooms after bringing this up with reception). The location is in Thamel and getting to nearby attractions is convenient

GGuest UserI stayed for 2 nights, it didn't feel safe for me as a solo woman traveller. One the first night around 11pm there were 3-4 men shouting and laughing and knocked my door. I was scared and called the reception. The phone wire was not connected to the phone, i have to hold it tight to the phone while i was speaking. It was a terrifying experience. When in emergency even the phone wasn't working! the receptionist took 30 min to for the men to calm down. The next day morning the receptionist told me they men moved out. But i saw them in the evening in the hotel. Didn't feel safe. Again, the men, shouting and aloud. Still i couldn't sleep there, awake whole two nights i stayed there, didn't feel safe. The place was clean. Location was good.
