We stayed here overnight on a road trip to Brisbane. Check-in was just after the office closed, but we received instructions via text message, allowing us to collect our key from the security safe with a code. There was plenty of undercover parking, with internal stair and lift access to our ground floor unit, which opened out on to the pool area at the rear. The day was hot and humid, but the air conditioning was running when we arrived, giving a welcome respite as we brought our luggage in. The unit was sparkling clean, and well equipped for an overnight stay, or for a week or more. The location was excellent, with a short walk to the beach, and the town centre. In the evening, we walked to the ex Services Club for dinner. The next morning, we took the opportunity to walk up to the lighthouse in the cool of the morning. It was a great 2 1/2 hour round trip, walking up through bushland and along the headland ridge top with great views to the north and south, and back by the shorter route along the beach. After the walk, we had a late breakfast in our kitchenette equipped unit before hitting the road again. Overall, a great location for a stopover.

After wanting to visit Elements of Byron for a long time, it definitely did not disappoint! Check in/out was a very smooth process, with fantastic communication from the friendly staff. We stayed in a 2 bedroom Villa, which was very spacious yet cosy, with king beds and 2 large bathrooms. Perfect for families, particularly with teenagers! The layout of the resort is everything if your looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday, with the villas offering so much privacy from other guests. We visited outside of school holidays, and often felt like we had the whole resort to ourselves! There is plenty to do without having to even leave the resort however, the solar train is only a short walk down the road, heading directly into town, saving the worry of finding parking ect. The restaurant, cafe and bars on site are fabulous, again, with friendly staff and delicious snacks and cocktails. The buffet breakfast has a huge variety of food, great coffee and fresh juices! Both the lagoon pool and the adults only pool are dreamy, with plenty of space and cabanas to relax in the sunshine. Everything is thought of with plenty of pool towels and easy ordering of snacks and refreshments. Thank you for having us Elements, we will be back for longer next time!

We spent 3 nights in the villa Yarrawarra that had everything you might need. The pool itself could be cleaner because there were a lot of leaves and even a crab in the pool. It's a bathroom after all. We've been happy to remove the crab and we'd have removed the leaves but there was no net to do it. This should be done daily but it was not hit within 3 days. The hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable and it is very comfortable and very comfortable. I don't expect this for the price I paid for accommodation. As our transport would not recover us before 12 hours. 30 hours we asked if we could store our baggage until we were recovered. We were informed that this was not possible because other customers had arrived and the property needed cleaning. There is no baggage. I think that could be integrated into the villas. We had to walk for 2.5 hours under the burning sun with 2 small bags only to go home and sit out on the ground while waiting for our transport. This just took the edge of a very relaxing stay.

We were really looking forward to our time at Byron and thought we'd booked a lovely place. WRONG, it started with basic items not being available when we arrived, like tea bags and cutlery. A minor issue we thought and we overlooked it. Unfortunately, our room backed onto the managers on-site accommodation so her late night chores list made our first nights stay a nightmare. The 'delicious continental breakfast' was a joke. This establishment is child free and the three cereal options available for breakfast included coco pops and corn flakes!! Not to mention the 'fresh French imported croissants' that were noted on the web, in room and even a text; all we saw was a Helga's sliced loaf. The next day our room was not serviced and when we asked why, the manager said ”she forgot”. Then to top it off, at 9:25pm on our final night we receive a text message saying that due to the site being sold, and the new owners were no longer offering B&B, we couldn't have any breakfast the next morning. What a joke except...I'm not laughing.
Wollongbar Motel

Booked the Wollongbar motel based on the location, price and good reviews. A quick easy two minute walk into town. Also, with private beach access through a gate at the back of the property, you can walk across the train tracks, down the path to Belongil beach and up to Main beach. While located on busy Shirley St, I didn’t notice any traffic noise, just the sounds of the ocean. We stayed in a Double Balcony room, upstairs towards the back of the building. The room was very spacious, comfortable and clean. It is an older style motel but has been updated and while basic has everything you need (fan, aircon). The room felt a little dark due to the aspect and older style security windows but you could open the balcony door to let in light and air (the navy blue accents contributed to the darker feel). If styled with sandy creams or earthy tones, the room would feel a little lighter and more Byron, and flow better with the cream and white exterior. Same with the pool, a few simple updates, with a coat of white paint, a couple of new lounge chairs and some pot plants or landscaping would really lift the pool area. The pool was lovely and warm, we had a swim everyday day after the beach. Overall our stay was quiet and relaxing, being located close to but just outside the busy town. We were talking to someone who has been coming to Byron for the last 16 years and always stays at the Wollongbar, doesn’t even look elsewhere. The ‘affordable for Byron’ price is a step up from a private room in a hostel. We didn’t have a car and while a bus stop was located right out front of the motel, we never saw a bus go by. Byron isn’t well set up for public transport, so it’s harder to get around town without a car, we did a lot of walking. I just wish they had adult and kids bikes available at the motel! Most bike rental places were closed after COVID. The Byron Bus interchange is less than a 10 minute walk, we caught the public bus direct to Ballina airport on the way home about an hour’s trip (cash only $4.50 Adult / $2.20 Child). The reception staff were lovely and helpful. While the room was not serviced during our stay you could get fresh towels and toiletries from reception. And there was an on-site laundry $3 wash $3 dry.

Overall this was a really good stay and felt different from other trips to Byron. What we liked: - Beach houses were great - spacious and away from the pool area. Also very clean. - beds and bedrooms were a good size. Aircon in all major areas. - kitchen was well appointed (maybe consider adding pod coffee machines, given it can be difficult to score a coffee in the first half of the week?) - pool area was really nice. We spent a few hours lounging here. - location was a big selling point. We did not want to stay in Byron central again. An easy 16-20 min walk in to town and a $10 Uber in either direction. Also being over the road from the beach was fantastic. Also near the Treehouse and a really nice Italian restaurant. - was able,e to receive deliveries from Coles and restaurants. What can improve: - Sliding door on the beach house was a royal pain to shut and lock successfully. Needs to be looked at. - Internet stability. It was bad on Day 1 but then improved. Degraded a bit later on, but we figured out it could be resolved by rebooting the router. Speed was fine when it was working well though. - Maybe consider an additional set of bins for the other side of the complex, was a bit of a walk otherwise. Probably our nicest stay in Byron yet - good digs and good location, enabling us to hang out in the central byron when we wanted a beer at the Northern. Thanks!
