2-Star Hotels in Calgary

Very clean hostel with great, helpful staff. It's in a really good location close to downtown and has a supermarket across the road. It's great for solo travellers as it allows you to meet lots of new people from all over the globe. Breakfast was good for a hostel but if you didn't want the free breakfast there's a Tim Hortons across the street.

A really unwelcoming receptionist was on duty when I checked in. Grumpy and used unfriendly tone when we discussed. The room was quite big, but what an awful filthy floor! The carpet on the floor was full of dog hair and generally smelly. The bed was ok, but it was not evenly leveled between left and right side. I almost fell of the bed on one side. The bathroom was ok with hot water. The wifi was strong. The breakfast was just a sandwich, a donut and a juice. That's all. Cheap stay for a hotel, but not for a demanding guest.

The room and hallways were outdated and retro but still clean. Kitchen had everything we needed. We had a bizarre issue with the check-in where the front desk tried to tell us our reservation had been cancelled months prior, which was not true. We didn't cancel our reservation, and if they did on their end they never notified us of it. In fact, I was still receiving emails about checking in for my reservation the day before we arrived, so it was very stressful and confusing to get there and be told our reservation was cancelled months ago. Luckily they still had rooms for us, but still. Get your reservation and notification system sorted out.

Me and my wife stay here for one nighht for my Calgary half marathon. Staff are nice and friendly.. lots of restaurant around the area room is very cleen.. we can see the calgary tower from our window. Didnt see all the amenities of the hotel. Breakfast is until 10 am which is nice.. i finish my run early and still come bavk to the hotel for breakfast.

Do NOT stay here. Avoid at all costs. The managment at this hotel is absolutely awful. When making my booking it was not made clear that it was non-refundable. I was made aware of this when I called the hotel to remove 1 day from my 3 day booking. They refused despite this change being requesed 3 weeks before my scheduled stay. After many phone calls I was left without any resolution. During my conversations with the owner, which are recorded, he was rude and hung up on me on numerous occasions requiring me to call back relentlesly to try and understand their no refund policy. It is the first time I encoutered a no refund policy when booking a hotel. With the refund for a single night not pausible I called back the following week and asked if they could move my 3 night booking by 1 day as my travel plans had changed. They also refused this request despite it still being 3 nights. After refusing that request, they called me back shortly after and informed me that I was no longer welcome on the property and that they would be keeping my non-refundable $550 payment for my stay. They justified this by telling me that I had called them too many times which they deemed to be harrassment. At the end of the day I am out $550 and they will not allow me to stay in the hotel. Crooks! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL on Trip! Front desk staff did not accept prepaid checkin voucher when I arrived. It took several minutes, a call to Trip and much discussion, showing of documents and receipts, until clerk finally called senior staff. Poor training? Maybe. Rude and unpleasant? Absolutely! Apologetic? Definitely not! Last time I will stay here no matter how I book.

I stayed here for four nights in October, and found it to be comfortable and well put together. The room was clean and not worn or dirty. Beds were comfy with good linens. Towels were quite good. Amenities, meh. Enough, but the smell wasn't to my taste. I had a queen suite on the 6th floor--with views of the transit station and very distant mountain views--at a reasonable price. Quite spacious, and actually would've been good for a family--two queen beds and a sofa bed, plus small fridge/microwave/coffee pod machine. I requested partial housekeeping service--they replaced my towels and took the garbage every day, and I never saw them. I also appreciated that the room had enough LIGHT. So tired of glum-looking hotel rooms with a couple of lamps with weak bulbs. With regard to covid, we were asked for proof of vaccination at check in, and were told that we could then access amenities such as the pool and breakfast room. That's the law at this point, and I was glad to be asked. On the first morning, the breakfast area felt controlled and safe (I saw one small party moving around the room unmasked, but it was quiet and I was able to keep my distance). On the second morning (a Saturday), the place was VERY full, with lots of people not using masks, lots of unmasked and unsupervised kids helping themselves at the food table. Kids gotta eat, but parents should be helping and making sure they do so in a sanitary way (this is not unusual, but covid makes it worse). There was NO ONE controlling the room, no pretense of verifying that the people there were actually the ones who could prove vaccination status. (I actually saw one guest walking around barefoot--which is not a particular covid risk but is just gross.) Could they not code the room cards for access or no access and then code the breakfast room (and pool) to match? Wouldn't be perfect--someone's going to slide in behind someone else at some point--but it would be better. Also I know these places hate to see you carry food back to your room, but under the circumstances, a few trays to make it easier would be appreciated by those of us who prefer not to spend time with those who prefer not to follow the law.

I was in Calgary for the marathon, the start of which was an easy walk from the hotel. The staff were very accommodating, the room was comfortable, and I would recommend the hotel for anyone looking for a room convenient to the Stampede grounds. If you’re travelling light, the walk from the 300 (airport) bus stop is not too far.

Overall not bad, but the breakfast is not that good, they don’t have any meat, neither eggs ….

Very late to the airport, staying on the next day, just 100 meters on the road up the mountain, very convenient. Room facilities are OK, breakfast is the standard of Huanpeng. The front desk is very welcoming. There are many hotels around and it feels safe.
