For some context we are young family of 4 that travel often on all inclusive. We usually go 4 star, however for special occasions would do 5 star. We chose Tonga due to its 4 star plus rating and 4.5 stars rating on trip advisor. To summarise this hotel falls significantly below any hotel we have stayed at previously and in my opinions merits a down grade to 3 star by Jet 2 and significant reduction in prices being charged. Everything felt an effort from the 3 hour transfer arranged by Jet 2, not Tonga Towers fault, to constantly queuing for food at breakfast lunch dinner. All the small things weren’t there. Examples would be sound proofed rooms, fusing sounds of water coming through pipes every hour during the night, no shower gel soap in shower and finally staff being unpleasant across all levels in particular bar, cleaners and management. There were bigger issues. The design of the hotel is extremely poor - it’s essentially a high rise tower with rooms stacked to 14 floors and cafeteria at the bottom. It not only lacks character but practical issues. When the hotel is busy it’s really busy and stressful to stay in and the dinner hall at the bottom you couldn’t swing a cat round. With young kids it was a nightmare and felt we were living in a high rise block of flats which essentially is what it was, eating out of a council kitchen run by lacklustre management staff. This would be fine, unfortunately we had paid £3k to stay there for 10 nights. Please don’t waste your hard earned cash. We have learnt a hard lesson from our stay here and most certainly wont be back.
